I recently put Stand Firm on a Human Blitzer and wow I forgot how amazing that skill is. Sure it got nerfed big time for this edition but it's still great, and imo pretty much on a par with side step. Why doesn't it get the credit it deserves and why does no one seem to take the skill when side step is so common?

Sure it doesn't kill mens but it's great for winning, where is the stand firm love?

Agree.. I'm a fan and take it, so many wasted blocks as a result by the opponent.

I also noticed it's a great skill after taking it for my grind-team. I think that the man reason is that it doesn't kill mens, like you say. Perhaps people don't see the benefits of SF over MBPO etc, ie it's easier to win by CAS than by positioning.

Well I like it in GRIND. But only because I can't get mighty blow, guard etc

Ps play GRIND it's awesome!

SF is great, especially with blodge players. It can draw out unnecessary rerolls as your opponent desperately tries to knock over that guy. Same reason why juggernaut is useful, because often you just need to get that push to clear the way for a score etc. At their peak my ranked dorfs had 7 guard SF guys, it was hilarious to play against non-bashers Very Happy

I find it really useful, it's a great positioning skill. The main problem is when to take it.

I'd love Dwarves to start with is instead of all the Block/Tackle. Would make a really interesting team.

I agree, Garion. I like it on diving tacklers, because sidesteppers are easier to get off the ball carrier (by occupying the 2-3 adjacent squares). The best example are slann blitzers, as they can choose between S and A skills. While I ideally like having both ss and sf ones, I prefer sf. (having both lets you use the one the opponent doesn't have the counterskill for).

SF is better for pure marking, ss is better for getting your guard in position.

The two +ST sf slann blitzers on this team can be a real pain.

Isn't Kick the usual subject of threads like these? Wink

Stand Firm is underrated. But I'm not sure by how much, really. It strikes me as a really good 'unique starter' skill; like a NOS or a Diving Catch that you might one day actually select in a player that doesn't start with it. Do any of the Secret League teams have a Stand Firm gimmick?

I don't know what else would be more underrated than Stand Firm, really. Kick? Diving Tackle? Sure Hands? I suppose much of a muchness. Maybe Piling On. Wink

Why no Christmas Pie!!!

SF is a good skill sure, I haven't taken it much if at all but I rarely get a player 2 or 3 skills up Razz It's an obvious choice for units such as Ogre, Troll and Krox!

@:the_sage: hell, thats a nice team, lots of skills on lots of players!

That's a great idea!

Block, stand firm instead. Is there a such team in Secret League?

Well, to be fair the team came about under unnatural conditions: the Rush and Pass league does not allow bash skills or fouls. Combined with no stalling (many TDs), and now recently free apos and babes on every scheduled game, skilling is fast and attrition is kept to a minimum.

I do really like the guy who made 10 intercepts in his 24 games though. =D

For big guys usually a contest with break tackle as second or third skill (after guard).
For blocker types after Block, guard and maybe mighty blow.
For blitzer types ideally after dodge and guard/diving tackle.
