Sun Devil asked me to go over the icons and give them some more depth. I used modified Gong icons for the gorillas and the King and gave the silverbacks silver backs. The original orangutan icons had looked flat to me, but when I got them in my art program and zoomed in, I could see that whoever did them had put in detail, but it was hard to see. Maybe it's just the orange. I don't know. Hopefully, I did enough to make them pop out more. They look alright to me right now, but they may look different on a green pitch. We'll see. The rest, I just gave some highlights mostly and some little tweaks. Nothing major.

Honestly, I think this is a move away from 'your' style. I prefer the old Kong, than this silver back one. I know a lot of guys think that icon is awesome. The rest I guess are better, but I'd prefer to see your subtle shading over these strong highlights.
The orangutan I think is difficult. I guess you should go with almost brown for the outline. |

After seeing the Silverback a few times now, the red one looks to me like he has bloody stumps or something. What is that? Pads? |

Thanks for tackling this, MisterFurious! And thanks again to cowhead for doing the original Simyin icons!
I agree with harvestmouse that your subtle shading is amazing and if you wanted to go more in that direction, that would be great. But these are also very nice as they are - I'm just super appreciative of your time and effort here! |
