The UI finals are drawn.

See the draw HERE

One team had unpicked skills and could not take their place in the finals.

Only one losing Q finalist applied to the finals and hence takes that place.

Congratulations to BattleLore and Excellence of Execution.

The most picky and nose-in-the-air major event has fired off, and of course not without some controversy. A certain nurgle coach has been threated with the firing squad after he failed to submit formal document 13B2 in time and in triplicate. Cries of outrage at the byzantine high elven bureucracy are heard from scattered nurgle cultists before they submit to coughing and womiting in protest. Some even blame the Great Deceiver for engineering a spot for his favourite team Excellence of Execution after they were humiliated in the surf party of the century by vampires.

Here is a short breakdown of first round matches:

Unpronouncable Dorf team vs Red Corsais
Dwarves dodge the wizard in this match, but the Corsairs are still a hardy and scarred crew, representing the best of humanity. Its a classic speed vs bash matchup, that will hinge on the 3+ dodges and possible fouls.

Nurgle Wasps vs My Elves were killed in F1 and
Tonight is the night vs Excellence of Execution
Very similar matches, where the dwarf coach must be grinding their teeth at being matched up against claws, after being the big bashy dogs in light qualifiers. All teams have lots of guard, so expect a grind fest that will be decided if dwarves leave the pitch too soon or not.

Nuffle can suck it vs Drakensberg Raiders
The Undead Affair, freak vampires meet freak werewolf. Two high class coaches meeting with interesting teams, this should be blast to watch.

Cult of the Scourge vs Big Gob Bashas II
Undead are looking like the underdog in this bash match, but perhaps a big star could turn it around for them. Or just going undead-style with bribes and wizard, hope to overwhelm the orcs in a mob of zombies.

4th Annual Necros vs Amiga Games
The oneturning elf carried his team through the qualifiers, but whether the rest of the team can make it through the rest of the game against this really nasty necro team is the question, while also giving up the wizard. If the oneturner has to play in the actual game there will be no safe haven from a hungry leaping wolf looking to end his career, and the missing st4 catcher is another big blow to elves here.

Lizzy Pride vs Uusiverikulho
This is my own game so again I will refrain from too much comment here. But the nurgle juggernaut that took WO by storm seems to have started showing some cracks and signs of degeneration, after losing their star pestigor in a horrendous prep game. Will the lizards be able to take advantage of that, or will they be swept under a wall of tentacles and claws remains to be seen.

Squadron XXIII vs Wedding cabbage for everyone
The last match, but perhaps the most interesting one of round 1. The high elves are darlings of the home crowd, but they face a brutal dwarf team that looks to end their run along with the career of several players. Being a guard elf in this match is going to be an unenviable position. Still the dwarves lack a monstrous ballcarrier usually seen in these tournaments, so if the elves can force an opening the runners will be in trouble. It only takes one mistake for dwarves to lose against this team.

If I would have applied my witches and been the team instead of Excellence..

..I would have had sissy Witches getting mauled by Dorfs, Yikes!!

Why do we have the same story every major (or almost) except the direct KO tournaments?

Could sth be done to prevent or minimize this? If yes, what? any ideas?

I don't know, if it goes anything like the Corsairs first match against dwarves in the qualifiers, then a one-sided dicing in regards to the ball will help the Corsairs advance, though the dicing they dwarves give them on blocking will be nasty

** Milford from the UI **

Oh, FUMBBL fans, it was a blood bath of the highest order.

Squadron XXIII was blown out of the skies by the evil dwarf Hun.

A game like that reminds us that sometimes Nuffle has his own designs on things.

Breaking news: Reasons are not yet clear but the Dwarves with the unspeakable name had to do the unspeakable and postpone the game on short notice to tomorrow.

Rumours are they are scared from the high elf demolishon just now, or it's some case of Morleys revenge. Some voices also say it's actually the bookies who are not in favor of 4 UI games being played at the same night as rarely more then 2 windows fit on one Screen.

However, the Pirate Crew of Red Corsair is enjoing the pointy eared ladies of Ulthuan one more night before the big game (they like it rough apparently since some recent showing of 50 stabs of grey) and are hoping for perfect blood bowl weather tomorrow.

** Milford from the Ulthuan Invitational **

It has been brought to my attention that the UI competition committee had a midnight meeting last night in one of the high towers over the city.

It seems they are deeply concerned about the dwarfs with the unspeakable name. The team with the unspeakable name must be defeated at any cost.

My informant then told me they talked to a group of low down goblins, who left with a big bag of gold.

Then a group of mercenary skaven assassins showed up out of the shadows and they to left with a large bag of gold.

Then a ninja assassin walked in. He was a handed a large chest of gold.

The team with the unspeakable name is now KOS by the UI.

Red Corsair had the first shot to take them out and missed and then was "rolled" in the opening round and discarded like a used tampon.

These dwarves CANNOT win the UI. The reputation of the UI itself is now at stake. The High Elves will do everything in their power to stop them.
