Context matters...random Ranked game? Score tied? I'll generally stick the ball in the end zone. In league, I'll do stabs and 3db and maybe if a high value target is vulnerable that I'll hit that 2db w/ RR...maybe. League position matters, etc.

As far as I can understand, the issue is more people who take stupid risks instead of scoring? It's a bit annoying tbh, but the day will come when they get 4 skulls.

There are two valid reasons for not blocking in turn 8.

1) You don't want to risk it before scoring a TD

2) You feel really sorry for your opponent

The general rule is that you should optimize SPP and even more importantly if you have not won the game, then you should make your opponent pay in blood for robbing you of victory. Not to get revenge but to not make it too easy for people to risk their players in an effort to snatch the win.
The idea that you can just put your Wardancers etc. in the pit and then expect them not to get hurt just because you have secured the win and the hurt is "pointless" is really silly.
Managing the risk of getting hurt is part of the riskmanagement in blood bowl. This is also the reason that fouling in turn 16 is often the right thing to do.

This thread might be older than some of our coaches.

I try not to block on any turn, physical contact is weird and icky.

If you blocked me in turn15, then no moral basis for complain. If you left free blocks for me, then no practical basis for complain. Same for fouling.

P.S. Turn 16 should be treated almost like turn8.

I think we are onto something here.
Let us try to exchange arguments to construct one objectively true theory on why the only ethically acceptable behavior is how I do it.
Should be solved quickly, and the subject is worthwhile.

I will always block in T16. I will even blitz with a legend for fun. From time to time I will drop a T16 gang foul.

It is part of the game. I don't play to build teams. First I play to have fun. Second I play to win. Hearing a sploosh sound is a lot of fun.

Blocking turn 16 is a-okay by me.

So why do you reply to a 15 year old thread?

I need this guy for my undead team. I reckon he could raise at least two zombies per game instead of my current necromancer who only gets me one.

Hahaha brilliant, got to be one of the largest necros of a thread I have ever seen. I'm trying to think what the hell I was doing in 2003? Probably playing cricket or painting Tau, or painting Tau whilst playing cricket Very Happy

Some coaches don't seem to like it any more than being fouled in the last turn. What is the general attitude?

I think one of the biggest problems I have with turn 16 blocking is people aiming for more difficult casualties on better players. Like taking a 2d on a blodge legend instead of a 3d on a rookie lino.
