This forum thread is for anything relating to Season 45 of the SWL.
Links:
Announcements:
- Divisional Structure
Same same.
- Season Commencement
First round will be due by Monday 18th June. Divisional draws will be up over the next few days.
- Axing
PM to the swladmin FUMBBL account by 10pm Monday Sydney time if your game has not yet been played. Check out the Guide for more information, although in essence the process has remained the same. This is also the method for advising of parking at the end of a season.
- General
Please be aware that we rely on individual coaches to be active in checking this forum, arranging games against opponents (especially if not on east coast of Australia) and in communicating with Admins. The responsibility is on the coach to enquire, not the Admins to inform. Please feel free to ask any questions, anytime.
- Trial of Blood
Play matches against other coaches' Fringe teams. Only one game per opponent coach. Any number of games to a TW limit of 120.
Organise a definite time with your opponent. Do not settle for a rough organisation of "i will be on a lot" or "sometime sunday". If your opponent won't give a specific time, add me to the PM thread.

Tomay’s Season Preview XLV
Welcome to another cracking SWL season. We’ve had a few of our members go travelling and park their teams so the numbers are a little thinner this season, but we’re hoping to get a few back for the next. We’ve seen a lot of reggies promoted, a cluster of “rock” teams in conferences, a prem full of elves and zombies… oh and lolvenom has drafted again – leaving some very unhappy khlowns supporters. Let’s get to my predictions.
Prem
Once again erikekers, Tomay and Faulcon remain in the premiership division along with last season’s champ – the Butchrangers. I expect that the influx of elves and skaven will make this season very interesting and a lot of it will come down to which players survive.
The Blackwater Sting have arguably the best roster in the whole competition, but Chavo has a history of struggling in Prem.
Irgy continues to yo-yo in and out of prem, but has a solid team and we all know he is a solid coach that can go all the way if it ever lines up.
I think its great to see eganra in there with his rats, the last time he made it after all those games he had to go travelling and missed out on his shot at Prem.
DC was lucky to make it, but having moved house and hitting a run of form he has a chance – albeit slim I think with necro in this league. He has a history of struggling with the big games though, so watch out for the pressure.
Erikekers is my tip to take out the season, based on coaching ability and finally getting his team in a good position to start the season.
I think the Skinks will be relegated back to conferences for the first time in ages as they struggle to deal with the elves matching their pace and winning the positional battle.
Tribal had some luck to go along with his coaching last season (albeit due – I just hope he remembers it next time things don’t go so well) and I think his humans have a favorable matchup against the elves and skaven but I suspect he will fall short on dropped matches.
I think my team will struggle based on the troop losses we keep experiencing, but we will see. Everyone loves an underdog – unless its Tomay.
Woodies Double Revenge Conference
Well this is a toughie of a conference. Obviously everyone is going to be focusing on the Volente – Falcons game, but the rematch between Intoxicated Mayhem and Mort Volente shouldn’t be forgotten, it is what kept Volente from Prem last season. I think OB will return to form and dominate this division this season. I expect the battle for 2nd to be fairly tight and probably decided in the final round. The Dandies will win in the battle of the elves and finish in 2nd, with Clay finishing 3rd.
Mort Avaritia Conference
Now this is a mouth watering assortment of teams and coaches. I expect this conference to be the tightest of the lot, probably with the winner being decided in the final round. I think the LHC will take it out narrowly, based on the strength of their roster alone. The Ruffians had a fairly poor season by their standard in XLIV, but I expect they will finish 2nd on their ability to handle the slann.
The most important factor will be whether the Ratmen can survive the bashier games. If they can, I expect they will take out the division on the back of PianoDan’s ability. The battle of the slann will be an interesting one, hopefully we will see many failed leaps turned RIP’s for everyone’s enjoyment! I still think the slann will struggle too much with consistency to make a big splash in the pond.
Good, Bad, Furry Conference
In my mind this is the battle of the big 3. The Whalekillers, Grunts and Ninjahs all have good shots of making the Permiership division. I expect the rest of the division will struggle with their teams lack of development. Almic’s khemri have the perfect starting roster to develop into a proper contending Khemri team with a bit of luck, so keep an eye on their games.
I’m going to say the Grunts will take out the title with the Whalekillers 2nd and Ninjahs 3rd. This could go either way and the head to head matchups here will determine the team’s fate. Ankle Grab United could make a showing but I suspect they will finish mid table unless the fouls come off. Watch out for the smokey – Tribute could recover after the first game and put on a run to become the first slann team in prem.
Reggies
Who knows what will happen here in the smallest reggies for a while. The good news is that new teams will have a good shot to develop against similarly sized teams. Chunky’s Lismore Lingus will probably be the team to beat but I’m going to be rooting for the little guy – Dark Lord’s Reverends to put together some form and crack a reggy title.

This season is going to be awesome. Far more awesome than the last one.
What I'm really looking forward to seeing what sort of excuse I can come up with for failing with my latest draft choice. |

Lords of Toruk (whom my rats failed to beat) will meet my Dwarfs, 2 slann teams - both of whom will be anticipated rematches for my Ruffians, and of course the rock smashing rematch of my noble short guys vs Barre's evil versions, including a showdown between two of the finest players of the CRP era in Faelan and Francois.
Keen for the season! |

You've got 2 different types of elfs, a bunch of zons and plenty of skinks. Tackle works a lot better against those guys than against the frogs I've got.
That said I've noticed a juicy amount of -av and niggle in my opponents |

Finest players?! Biggest spp hogs, you mean.
It's clearly self-evident that there are no finer players than the stars of the Dandies.
Lord Debenham's paisley kilt is a finer player than either of the abovementioned... |
