This forum thread is for anything relating to Season 44 of the SWL.
Links:
Announcements:
- Divisional Structure
We are holding tight on numbers, with some coaches parking (hopefully to return) and some fresh meat that looks quite juicy. Don't salivate too much!
- Season Commencement
First round will be due by Monday 9th April. Divisional draws will be up over the next few days.
- Axing
Remember that we are no longer using the email, so PM to the swladmin FUMBBL account by 10pm Monday Sydney time if your game has not yet been played. Check out the Guide for more information, although in essence the process has remained the same. This is also the method for advising of parking at the end of a season.
- General
Please be aware that we rely on individual coaches to be active in checking this forum, arranging games against opponents (especially if not on east coast of Australia) and in communicating with Admins. The responsibility is on the coach to enquire, not the Admins to inform. Please feel free to ask any questions, anytime.
Organise a definite time with your opponent. Do not settle for a rough organisation of "i will be on a lot" or "sometime sunday". If your opponent won't give a specific time, add me to the PM thread.
Rules Changes
As introduced last season, drafting teams play Trial of Blood matches against other coaches' Fringe teams. Only one game per coach. Any number of games to a TW limit of 120. |

Tomay’s Season Preview
Well it’s time once again for my season preview. With another two months to bask in the glory of my premiership title win, I will surely be enjoying this season’s action – its set to be an absolute cracker!
Prem
Can I go back to back? I doubt it! This is looking like a great prem season with some classic matchups. I think the bookies have the Falcons as favourites with the Woodies and LHC close behind. Watch out for the skinks 300th!!! SWL game, in round 1 vs Clay’s Dorfs, its going to be quite an achievement.
Chaingang Conference
This is certain to be a hotly contested conference, with a lot of strong coaches looking to break into Prem. I think this will be a fairly tight division with a few teams around the 20 point mark coming into the final round. We’ll probably see a lot of draws (*cough* BBQ *cough*) and position changes. A lot will depend on how the Slann perform on their day, being capable of causing an upset in any given game. I’m going to tip:
1st: Dark Swans: Irgy continues to impress me with the swans. They were unlucky to miss out on a prem spot this season in a tough conference, but I think they can pull it off this season.
2nd: Intoxicated Mayhem: Erickan’s Orc’s are looking great. If those BOB’s can keep getting skills they’re a team that can win all by themselves and Erickan’s form at the end of last season could see them fighting for the division title.
3rd: Financial Meltdown: I think this team will come home strong in the last part of the season. They are getting the roster together and Grod’s no slouch of a coach. I still think the elves might give them a bit of trouble though.
Bouilloires De Chaux Conference
A fairly interesting distribution of teams in this conference is going to make it interesting. Although I think any team is capable of beating another, I think it will come down to consistency. In that case I think it will be between redgum and OB battling it out. Saying that, any of the other teams are capable of putting on a good run. I’m not giving the ninjahs or the sting the kiss of death this season
1st: Mort Volente: OB won’t be staying in conferences another season. He has the weapons now, it’s just a matter of time before he goes on a big run.
2nd: Ruffians: Redgum has a strong dwarf team and he’s a proven conference winning coach. Questions remain over his ability to step up his game and push to a premiership winning level, but his match against OB will be an indicator, and probably the decider of this conference.
3rd: Boogaloo: what a team name! They performed solidly last season but I think the inconsistencies of slann will prevent them from winning the conference.
Sinister Duskriders Conference
The winner of this conference is anyone’s guess. In this division we have a lot of coaches who have won conference titles, only to have a shocking run the next season in prem. This division is basically a lottery, and a lot of it will come down to luck and consistency. The Quotable Folks are the key team here I believe, they would be favourites, but they need to recover from the prem pounding they took last season. I’m going to pull out of my hat:
1st: High Street Dandies: The Dandies made it to the prem playoff last season for a reason. Expect them to be leading from the front during this one.
2nd: Wonga Wonga: Balle’s norse have a fairly good record and you can expect them to perform well this season as well. I’m loving the fluff of the team and watching its development, but they really need a few strike players.
3rd: Psych Lab: Eganra has been there abouts in the middle of the table with his rats each season. Anyone who takes them lightly will regret it. The match vs the folks will be a great high scoring affair, as enigma comes against his favourite race.
Reggies
I’d like to welcome our new and returning coaches. It’s hard to judge how they will handle the league at the moment, but i’ll be sure to keep a close eye on their performances as they settle in. It’s another bashy looking reggies this season and its going to be hard to predict. The team’s i’d watch out for are PianoDan’s Rickety Rats, Rangey’s Messrs Understood and ItchyCrotch’s Helf Harlequins. Anything could happen, but leading into the season these are the teams I think will be leading the way for promotion. Look out for Bobs with elves again, I think he’s a threat to be the first helf coach to win a prem title, but it might take him a season to get going. PianoDan’s return brings another premiership calibre coach back into the mix, having won previously with Undead and Nurgle in LRB4. |

Our conference isn't the bad... 2 elves, 2 humans, zons - and a slann team, they're as soft as shit. |

I have posted last seasons awards in last seasons thread and on channel bb for those who are interested.
In future seasons, the touchstone heart tiebreaker will be determined by the lowest av. |

An interesting point brought up by Tomay in his preview.

From a brief look, I can see a few races that have never won a flag.
High Elf (Although ALL other elf races have won it, including pro's...)
Orc (!)
Gobbos
Halflings
Khemri
Necro
Nurgle...sort of -> lrb4 Rotters won it 3 times (in consecutive seasons!), but CRP Nurgle are enough of a different beast. Aren't they?
and obviously:
Chaos Pact
Underworld
Slann
Also of note are Humans, who haven't featured heavily since the legendary Carlton United won the first and only human Prem pennant in season 2.
Something for coaches of those races to aim for, anyway. And maybe something for those coaches who ride the easy train to Prem championships, and could use the challenge... |

Sounds like the problem isn't the division. Though you do have about as bad of a schedule as you can get considering the division.
Surely you can easily beat humans and chavo! |
