I'm suspect the pinnacle of Blood Bowl is playing some form of elf team well. VERY well perhaps. Positioning, making the most of bad situations, capatitolizing on the slightest of errors or openings, and defending against the undefendable when required. This is where I think growing and evolving in the game eventually takes you.

And playing against well coached elves can be challenging and often demoralizing. What happens if a league puts them together? Who is the best elf coach? Who wants to try and prove it?

The 'Purple Dolls' would be an elf-only league that runs for 6 months at a time. You can have up to four elf teams in the league, only one of each type. With those four teams, you play as many games against other league teams as you want in 6 months. The league leader is the person with the best wins vs. losses record at any point in the season with all their teams combined. You will not be elligable to win (or place) in the end season results unless you have played at least 10 games.

[Maybe to discourage people from getting to 10-0 and stopping, every 10 games you get in tips your FINAL 'record' up by 1% in the scoring. (ie: 55% wins to losses after 31 games = 58% final score)]

The league winner will have the best and/or most impressive win-loss record. Their will be awards for other feats as well. The season will also end with a tournament between the top 8 coaches using the team of their choice to declare a champion. Oh, the bragging rights! Best of three final perhaps?

Does this sound interesting? I'd love to flesh out the details with at least 7 others. Season duration, scoring, etc. It seems like a pretty simple League to run/manage. Please vote. Thanks.

Elf vs. Elf Blood Bowl as the pinnacle of achievement?

You would have loved it here back in LRB4 Very Happy

I didn't say elf VS. elf was the pinnacle, but playing an elf team might be. And the league would be a great place to practice elf-ball without 'Nuffle bash' getting in the way.

New league teams only, and they would have a league and season identifying suffix at the end of their team name. eg: Kingston Pretty Boys [PD-III]

New seasons would start with new teams.

All other members in the league, as many games as they like.

My woodies against your high elves. Then my darks against your darks. Then blader's MB pumped darks against your Pro elf team. What ever you agree too, when ever you want, as much as you want.

Oh ok, makes sense. I initially thought you meant an E.L.F. style league against other races.

Another quote from the Blader lrb 4 book of bitterness. Blader was a young coach, back in 4, not really understanding the system, he suffered from cherrypickers in ranked, and people abusing the system in box.

Thankfully none of that happens now, and we are saved from the endless blogs and forum topics such actions produce.

If the new gamefinder allows League teams to search, it might be a great way to pick-up an elf v. elf game instead of activating in Box, if you see a friend or good opponent with another [PDI] team searching. Like a CLAWless CRP for fancy boys. Er, fancy coaches. Yeah, that's it. Anyone else fancy?

And with League games not affecting people's Coach Rating or stats, it would be pretty cool to lock horns with an elite elf coach and learn a few things. Maybe even give them a run for their money with nothing to lose.

I'd love to get some League advice from a manager via forum feedback or PM. (or on irc) Any obvious problems stand out in anyone's mind? Has anyone tried something like this before?

It's not exactly what we do in Rush and Pass, but it's close: Limited teams (mainly elves), no bashing skills, no fouling, no stalling.

This would be the ideal time to join, as we'll be starting 3 new seasons this Sunday:

A) rookie teams only
B) 1500 TW cap (you may leave treasury behind)
C) uncapped

Hmm. is it a big League? I'd hate to steal your clientelle. Elf stall is a key thing I'd like to practice, to be honest.

*bump*

Just one more vote for interest? A league, that does not affect your stats or CR, where you have 4 elf teams to choose from and challenge other elf coaches. NO CLAW!

It's all win baby. Learn to elf ball in relative safety.. maybe take home a prize.

Seasons will run from solstice to solstice, meaning you have until 21 Dec to become the greatest elf coach on FUMBBL. Or at least practice, and then take home the season two trophy this time next year. It will be the most beautiful FUMBBL trophy their is. How could it not be? ~The Purple Cup~. Made by a 2000 year old elf.

Banner for league recruiting..

We had 2 parallel leagues with about 45 games played by about 15 coaches over the last few (2? 3?) months.
