Hi everyone!

Closely following the ISP issue, we just ran into another problem. This time, it's out of the ISP's hand and in the realm of ageing hardware.

Zara, the server responsible for IRC and the FFB game server, is showing further signs of deteriorating. It essentially stopped functioning this morning and the motherboard was making clicking noises for a while when I tried to power cycle it.

In the end, I managed to get it back up and running (it effectively needed a short rest), but I feel this is serious enough that I really need to replace the hardware as it could simply die on me at any time.

So, in order to be able to do that, I need you guys to help me out with donations to cover the cost of the replacement. Given that the old hardware is so old, I practically can't reuse anything of it other than the case (Zara is from around 2005 or so).

Doing a quick price check on reasonable new hardware to take Zara's place, I'm looking at a cost of just shy of $1000 for the things I want to buy.

In order to give something back to those of you who donate, I will offer sending one of the FUMBBL poker chips (random colour) to those of you who donate $25 or more during this drive as a token of appreciation. In order to get this poker chip, I will need you to make the donation and then contact me (Christer) with a PM on the site with the name and email of your Paypal account (for verification purposes) and the shipping address you want the poker chip sent to. I really don't expect to run out of these poker chips during this donation drive, but there is a limited supply and I may not be able to send one to all of you who donate. If that happens, I'll get back to you and offer a refund on the donation.

I also have a very limited number of the dice from the Kickstarter campaign that I can send to those of you who are interested in donating a bit more (let's say $50 or more, a bit depending on what dice you are interested in). To take advantage of this, you will need to contact me (again through a PM) *before* you make the donation with information on which dice you are interested in, and the amount you intend to donate. Once I have confirmed that there are items remaining, I will reserve them for you and get back to you with a response so you can go ahead with the donation. This more complex process is needed in order to avoid me running out of dice.

Update: The donation drive has been a success and I have placed an order for new parts. I will, however, extend the time for it for another day or so in order to give some people a chance to get their hands on the last couple of sets of dice I have available from the Kickstarter project.
