Unicorn Conference


After an unimpressive 1/3/3 debut season, team Captain Hangar Litchen was eaten alive by the rest of the Phalanx as a sacrifice to the Plague God. They took it in turn to use the 'prized' Morien division wooden spoon for their foul meal of diseased Rotterflesh.

The Thirteenth season was another season of mediocrity for the Phalanx, ending up in mid-table obscurity in the Great Albion regional with two wins. However, league dropouts meant the Phalanx obtained a promotion beyond their capacity... which earned Gustav Hartmann another season in his captaincy.

The Fourteenth season was not, however, well-fated. The Phalanx had already trimmed their budget to prepare for a regional season only to find themselves in the conferences playing larger, better-trained teams. Their surviving strength bumbled through the season without a win and scoring only two draws, resulting in a trip back down to the regionals... and without Gustav Hartmann, who had finally succomed to career-ending injury.

Hoster Puukraan took over the captaincy of the Phalanx for season 15. Rejuvinating a tired side with fresh blood and new noxious viruses, he led the Phalanx in a triumpant slug that saw them win games against Grand Designs, Jotunheim Yetis and That Be Bristle which, thanks to the collapse of the Dwarf Team Engineers of Fate (most likely cursed pawns of the God of Change), saw the Bubonic Phalanx rise to take the Great Albion regional trophy.


The sixteenth season saw the Phalanx in the Unicorn conference, breaking even with wins against Tal'kazan Tunnelfighters and Psychedelic Breakfast, whilst losing to the Dutch Disciples and the Wergild Enforcers. However, with two teams (The Nehekharan Incantations and the White Isle Warriors) collapsing entirely, the Phalanx managed to place third for the season.

And then came the seventeenth season. The Dragon Conference fared dissapointingly for the Phalanx from the beginning, with only a win against the Clean Guys Haters (who had been quite mellow when facing filthy diseased disgusting rotters) and with Team Captain Hoster Puukraan putting his back out after a game against Rip Tide; but worse was to come. A dreadful showing against the Seventh Circle Hedonists near the end of the season led to half of the Phalanx's then-current roster being killed or forcably retired from the sport due to crippling injuries. Relegated and with only half a team remaining, the Phalanx disbanded, removing themselves from the league to make way for Some Old Codgers...

Bubonic Phalanx returned in the 21st season! But with all their old Beastmen players hit with a debilitating curse that slowed them, made their horns fall out and increased their rate of decay, the new season was one of re-building out of necessity... despite this, it seemed many other teams were in equally ill or worse shape, and the Phalanx managed to hang on in the Conference, Mid-Table.
