Thoughts ..
I played my 700th game on here recently, so figured I would put down some random thoughts .. why not? :)

It's been about a year since I came back to FUMBBL after leaving back in 2012. The main reasons I quit before were my dislike of CRP compared with LRB4 and that I just had too much stuff going on in my life at the time, including relocating from the UK to the US. I was lured back in after I got playing BB2 early last year and I thought: 'hang on, if I want to play BB, why don't I just go and play on FUMBBL (which is clearly the best place to play)?'. I'm still on here, so I guess CRP isn't all that bad after all ;)

The site was still pretty much as I remembered it - still one of the best gaming sites on the web, with a great community and so many different ways to play. Some of the old names from before were still around too, along with some new ones. One thing I noticed pretty quick though, is how few players seem to be online in the US timezone, compared to Euro. Some nights during the week , it's very difficult to get a game in the Box and the pool of players seems quite small. It's a shame and it would be great if there were more players in the US timezone, although you can still usually find a game somewhere whenever you want, whether it's in Box or [R]anked.

One of my ambitions when I played on here before was to build up a High Elf team to high-TV and enter a major. For some reason, back then, my HE teams always got trashed and never made it past about 1600 TV. So, I managed to build up my Ranked HE team, Valdimar Eagles and enter a FUMBBL major for the first time (another of my old-time ambitions), although I swiftly got my butt kicked!

Another of my ambitions was to get more involved in [L]. I had played a couple of seasons in the White Isle League back then, although when I returned it seemed that the US equivalent (NWL) had been defunct for a couple of years. However, by a stroke of luck, Painstate decided to reboot the NWL towards the end of last year, which I have been taking part in (also taking the opportunity to try out Vampires for the first time). So far, the league has been good fun and I'd encourage anyone in the American timezone to come and give it a try next season. I haven't been getting much joy with the vamps though so far. They seem very difficult to use, with practically no margin for error, although I think I've been getting some fairly rough dice, which doesn't help. Anyway, it's a challenge! :)

Speaking of challenges, I've also recently discovered the joy of playing flings in the box. Wow, it is so much fun. Going into a low-TV game with no expectations whatsoever and no pressure ... smashing stuff with the trees and seeing the little buggers flying around is hilarious. Any sort of result you can get out of the game is a bonus. A little army of 14 disposable little troops that can foul until their boots fall off .. I don't care if they live or die, just as long as it's funny! Also, 2 Treemen, ST6 with NO LONER. Oh man, they are brutal. And 6 rerolls .. because my guys are so cheap - lol! :D I just want to mention that the ARR in general is brilliant. Great idea and it's doing a wonderful job of making the Box more diverse and interesting. I've got a High Elf team in there too and I'm having a lot of fun with them ..

Ok, so now it's 2017, I guess I need some new goals for this year ..

First probably has to be to build a legend player, as I haven't had one before. The closest I have right now is my ST4 High Elf lineman, Nova. He's on about 120 spp, although he unfortunately got niggled in his last game. I'll keep going with him and if he gets to legend before he dies then I'll use my healing potion on him to celebrate :)

Second goal is to play as much as possible in the Box with ARR teams and try to snag me some silverware. I dunno, whatever I can get - obviously, winning the thing would be great, but getting a racial fAARst would also be a great achievement.

Third goal is probably to win a tourney with elves, especially High Elves if possible, as they are my favorite team. It's going to be tough though, as the competition on here is fierce, but I guess it's something to aim for.

Anyway, I think that's probably enough drivel from me for the moment. Good job if you managed to read it this far. I'll finish by saying a big THANKS! to Christer and all of the admins that do so much to make this site so great and addictive. I hope it stays strong as the #1 place to play Blood Bowl for many years to come!

Also, thanks to everyone that I played last year. It's been a blast and I hope to see you all on the pitch again soon (getting fouled by my flings ..) :D

If you're looking for a good American-time league, check out the NCBB.

Nice plans. My advice if you want to make legend helf player is to concentrate on max. 4 players in the team when scoring/passing/blitzing, the rest should be linefodder. I had thrower and catcher helf legends, I found that blitzers skill very slowly...

Flings must be fun, but Ogres are even more fun in my oppinion. Ogres bash and throw the little guys around, while the little guy foul and fall :)

Thanks for the tip, JR. I'd like to check it out, but probably depends on how much time I can find ..

Thanks for the helf advice, Okostomi. Yeah, making legend with a linelf might be difficult - MA6 isn't great and it's so much more convenient to score with the catchers. I'll give it a try anyway and see how it goes. I always like watching your team in the Box, btw :)

Nice write up dude, and you're seriously tempting me to make a box fling team...
