Found a PB bug
https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3470870
Half 2 turn 2.
high elf catcher usues pass block, leaps and the pass is resolved without the intercept roll. He was standing next to my catcher so he is allowed to intercept.

That's not a bug. He's using Pass Block to make the pass more difficult by putting TZs on the thrower (and the catcher, but he has NoS so it doesn't make any difference), but the HE isn't in a position where he could intercept. So the pass was a 4+ instead of a 3+, it worked perfectly.
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 08:31:12
really? I thought the range ruler also touched players to the side of the target?
Posted by bananaman on 2013-08-09 08:32:03
Specifically an interceptor is required to be 1) closer to the thrower than the catcher is, and 2) closer to the catcher than the thrower is. Neither applies here.
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 08:36:14
wait, I think I get it...
*reading rules of interceptions*

aha, my catcher is closer to the thrower... that's why, right?
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 08:36:48
well, he's closer to the catcher, but not to the thrower...
Posted by xnoelx on 2013-08-09 08:44:05
He isn't closer to either of them. He's an equal distance from them both, everybody is 1 square from everybody else. So no interception.
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 08:48:12
yeah, you're right. They're equally close to the catcher.
But the distance to the thrower is greater right? (sqrt(2)-1)
Posted by Dan-Da-Man on 2013-08-09 08:53:42
am i missing some thing here? i thought as long as the range ruler passes over part of a player they can have the chance to intercept no matter how close you are to the thrower or the catcher
Posted by cameronhawkins on 2013-08-09 08:59:32
Yeah, I'd agree with Roland, here.

The range ruler is applied from the center of the thrower's square to the center of the catcher's square. Since it's also wider than 1 square, part of it would pass over the interceptor, so the intercept should have been allowed.

IF the range ruler was drawn from edge to edge, then it shouldn't be allowed, but this is not the case.

I thougth so too, but then I read the rules :P
Posted by Dan-Da-Man on 2013-08-09 09:05:40
Yes sorry i just read the rules you do have to be between the passer and the catcher being be side him dont put you between them even though the range ruler would pass over your player like in this case
Posted by xnoelx on 2013-08-09 09:41:06
Yeah, actually, you're right on that point Roland; I was measuring distance in squares, but that was wrong. You use the range ruler to measure the distance, so he was further from the thrower than the catcher was, but equally as distant from the catcher as the thrower was.

A little sidenote that amused me; the interception rules state "See page 5 for rules on how to measure distance with the Range Ruler to determine who is closer". But there is no page 5 in the CRP. There's the title/contents page, then page 6...
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 09:48:31
lol
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 09:57:09
there's a page 5 in lrb 5 where it says how to measure passing range.
but it doesn't tell how to determine who's closer...
Posted by Dan-Da-Man on 2013-08-09 10:18:04
It does in CRP why you looking at LRB5?

Page 22

plus in your case you can easy tell you are not between the passer and the catcher
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 10:27:41
It does? where? All I can see is that page 22 refers to page 5 and there's no page 5 in CRP, but there is in LRB 5, which doesn't tell anything anyway :D
GW trolling ^^

Im looking at it now with a picture and every thing will PM you lol

k :)
Posted by Dan-Da-Man on 2013-08-09 11:12:46
It dont matter who your player is closer to as long as he is inbetween the passer and catcherand the range ruler passes over your player
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 11:20:52
yes that's right, the rules just makes it sound more complex :P

my point on measuring with the range ruler:
most of the time I think it's obvoius who's closer, but in the paragraph under the interception rules it refers to page 5 for "measuring who is closer with the range ruler" :)

I don't think it's possible to measure distance with the range ruler anyway (other than passing range).
should there be any questions who's closer I think it's easier to use a normal ruler or just count squares (and pythagorean theorem).

Finds bug.

Posts blog instead of bug report or in FFB bugs forum.

Clever stuff.
Posted by xnoelx on 2013-08-09 18:44:09
No, Chainsaw; the blog originally included a link to the bug report he also submitted (https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=bugs&op=view&id=1667). I would assume the blog was added to help others by informing them about what was believed to be a new bug. However, after it was pointed out that this isn't a bug, that was removed.
Posted by Roland on 2013-08-09 22:45:20
correct noel.

deected "bug"
searched reported bugs for pass block and did not find any.
reported "bug"
wrote blog and learned that I don't know all the rules yet, doh!

Chainsaw wonders why people dislike him.

Chainsaw insults out of turn.

Chainsaw doesn't apologize after he has been shown his errors.

Gets Stuffed.
