Regeneration - Trick or treat.
As you all know the undead team has a regeneration skill on almost every player. I play undead myself, as you can see on my profile.
The good stuff.
1. The good thing about Regen is that you have an APO on most players. Even the zombies, and you would never use a normal APO on a zombie, but on the undead team you get a "free" shot at saving a player for the next drive.
2. You can save a player several times during a match. Personally I saved a Mummy 2 times, before he stayed out as BH on the 3rd try late in the 2nd half.
3. If a player is hurt SI or Dead, you can try to save him. And when the next player gets an equaly bad injury, you can try and save him aswell.
4. The other player can make 4 cas, and you still have a full team for the next drive.
The bad stuff.
1. If one of your key players goes out, you rely on a 4+ roll to get him back in the game, even if he is just BH. On other teams you have a 100% succes to get a BH player back on the team.
2. You can't use Regen on a KO player. Late in a match that can be handy.
3. When regen fails you, it really hurts, and the team can really suffer from being down in numbers. other teams can still make some tricks and mybe win the match. (elves, skaven)
Is the regen skill too powerful, or is it too weak? Should the team be allowed more players with av9, instead of av8 on the blitzers?
Should regen be nurfed to only 5+?
I belive the skill to be in balance. It can be really annoing for the opponent, but it can also bite you hard in the behind, when it fails a BH on an important player. This blog gives nothing new, but is just some thoughts on a skill.

Regen teams seem pretty balanced maybe except for Nurgle but they have other skills that unbalance things.

regen teams haven't proved to do better than apo teams so far.
One thing you didn't consider is the effect on team development. Apos can moderate the effect of an injury even if they don't work, turning a perm into a mng. With regen it's all or none, so you don't get that extra protection on your stars

the important thing to keep in mind, is that regen teams can take an Igor in leagues, they dont get this option in Black box or Ranked, and Igors do mean that you get a better chance of saving your better players.

Regen isn't too powerful, it's that the apo is too weak. The balance has been lost, particularly as you can take an Igor.
However by luck or design, none of the regen rosters are that powerful, so there's a balance of sorts.

Don't forget the TV cost on every single player.
Thus regen is pretty decent on valuable players (Mummies/Nurgle) but can be a problem on bulk fodder like zombies.

Regen is perfectly fine. Having killed the same skeleton 3 times in one game i know how annoying regen can be but on the teams that get it, it balances out well.

No igor in B or R because they are TV based MM systems, so you will rarely have enough inducements to make them worthwhile. As jimmy says they arent very good. But if you are a big TV underdog, it is nice to have one to protect one of your good players.

Regen is good, better than apo overall in my opinion. It doesn't need nerfing or buffing though since that was taken into account in the design of the races that have it (though Nurgle does seem to get more mileage out of it).
As for igors, have you never taken a match in Ranked with 100+ TV difference? Also, especially in the box, you can throw money in as the underdog to get better inducements. If you're worried about needing more regen chances, take 100k from your bank account and spend it. It's not like most teams don't pile up the cash like mad.

dont play ranked and never happened in Box when I played regen, and with 100k i would always go for babes anyway.
but yeah regen is fine as it is anyway really.

How is igor crap? You get a total 75% chance of saving compared to 66% on an apo, and half the time you don't need to use him at all.
Of course the igor in itself is only a 50% roll but apo can't be combined with anything so the fact that igor combines to a 75% roll shouldn't be discounted.
