Kruelty Game 50: "Less" Unbearable
For the Kruelty's 50th game as a pro team, Kingston took to a foreign pitch to play a group of Chaos Dwarfs, dubbed the Black Beards. (who knows why) Assuming it would be underground, the humans did not bring the long cleats for their shoes. Seeing rain in the forecast, the cheeky dwarfs moved the game above ground, expecting the Kingston team to slide around miserably and fail several pick-up attempts and GFI's, as has been their lot in life the past several games. It was not to be though. (well, one failed pick-up, which Nuffle apologized for later) Perhaps Nuffle likes numbers of significance, or just the number 50, but I know for sure that on game day he loved blue arrows, and shelled them out in droves to the dwarfs. What happens to a dwarf team that rolls PUSH-PUSH over 20 times in one game? They lose, that's what. The dwarfs succeeded in retiring another of Kingston's doomed catchers, giving a broken collar bone to Cory 'the Cartwheel', which the team's Apo offered to fix by ripping out his heart and both lungs to make room for a chair. Cory opted for a lower bench press and a cozy retirement. The dwarfs failed to prevent one of Thorhall's trademark 2 yard passing plays which led to the only TD of the first half. The combo of ST4 humans managed to dislodge the ball in the second half which the midgets quickly recovered. It was scooped and hastily run towards the cheering bearded ladies in the dwarf end-zone by some kind of fat horse creature, but a speedy ST4 Brad Brunsen just caught up to it and made the first key 1D block Kingston has seen in games, POW! (re-roll required obviously) The horse fell and the ball went into the bearded human section of the crowd. Kingston's NEXT thrower heaved it clear across the length of the pitch, and the Kruelty's resident acrobat, Brian Bommerman, beat off two Hob grapplers to take it in for the turn 16 score.

All a very long winded way of saying Ogg 'the Unbearable" ogre smashed a Hob for 2 SPP and rolled a 2 for his post game skill-up. Block should make him much less the dimwitt, as he put himself on the pitch 3 times last game and was warned it was doubles or the door when he hit 16 SPP. He hit it, rolled the double, then ate the door.
So the Kruelty will chill here at 50 games until the start of the Human League Premiership on May 20th. The gold trophy for best in pre-season is securely locked up by neophyte's team. I've waited 50 games for an Ogre who doesn't throw blocks with his face and I'm not going to let some Chaos team take him out before he's swung a fist in season 1.

Thanks to koadah for creating a "fair" competition where I can strive to be bashed less than any other human team above 1700 TV. I salute the decision to keep it humans only, as other races are subject to different treatment by the pairing bot, and that immediately removes the level playing field aspect of this competition, which I love. Want me a gold trophy too.

50 games and I'm still making crazy dumb mistakes, as well as feeling pretty sorry for myself when Nuffle deals out the piles of skulls for 3 games in a row. I'm seeing how key it is to have reserve players in a bashy league. So far I think I've boiled things down to a pretty simple truism. Every game you really only have to score once and defend once if you receive, or score twice and defend once if you kick. The scoring only really needs a pair of catchers to have a decent chance, it's that one successful defense per game that is key, and you need 10 or 11 players for it. (assuming no amazing ball dislodger on the roster)
When kicking, the hard part is forcing Chaos to score in 6 turns without getting your team ripped apart. Just.. need to.. make it to.. turn 7 with 10 players.
