The White Isle League is FUMBBL’s (and maybe the world’s) premier UK Bloodbowl league. Sadly we have had quite a few coaches leave the league recently and worse PeteW has been crowned champion twice in a row now.

We are always looking to recruit reliable coaches and I run the WIL Fringe which acts as a feeder league. This means you can play games whilst you wait for a spot to open, win glory and keep the Fringe team when a spot opens up.

We are looking for coaches able to play at key Euro times (18:00 – 0:00 server time) and that can commit to a 1 game per 9 day schedule. You should also be British, British based or from a country that doesn’t have its own league, (though that last rule has been waived in the past).

So if you fit those criteria and are interested in joining or finding out more, then please drop me a PM with a list of teams you’d like to play in order of preference.

Only you can stop the decline of a great FUMBBL institution and you might get a chance to foul the Norse team of the site’s biggest lucker back to the stone age!


The norse dwarfs are all done now, I’ve added ice bases to them all and numbers to the linemen.



I decided the apoth was looking a little clean for the Bloodbowl world so added a suitable amount of blood and viscera to his apron, surgical implements and facemask.



All the rest of the team look very much the same so I won’t repeat pics here, but I haven’t shown the filler model yet. This is designed for take the spot in the display base when the snow troll/deathroller is not being used. I went for 2 drunken fans made from a dwarf warrior and AoW berserker. I wanted them to fit in with the team but not look like players so went with more muted colours for their clothing. I did add some of the team colours in the shape of blue sleeves for the warrior and blue and white hair for the berserker.
I see the warrior helping with the cheering fans, expert coaching side of things whilst the berserker represents the hooligan element and will be rioting, invading the pitch and throwing rocks at elves.


The orcs are progressing well and I will hopefully receive the varag model next month meaning I have everything required to complete the team. I’ve been working on Black Orcs, but with the amount of armour on them they will be a time consuming part so have taken a break to finish the goblins since they are nice and quick.



The goblins are mostly skin with only a few bits of armour or clothing so were much quicker to complete. In keeping with following the old positional colours I gave them yellow loin cloths since catcher is their closest position in the Orc team.
Since they are weedy gobbos they didn’t get many tattoos either.



With the Dwarfs out the way I can now make more progress with the Nurgle team. I have assembled the warriors but they still need some greenstuff to fill gaps and nurgle up the parts that came from other sources. I pick one of the warriors and paint him in basic colours to see how he looks. Green, brown, black and rusty metal are traditional but a little dull and I’m considering using a dark, bruised purple as a change.


I’ve also been giving more thought to what other projects I can do, I still wish to do all 24 teams and will hopefully complete flings and gobbos sometime in 2014. This just leaves Slann, Vamps and Ogres.

I had already come up with a concept for mixing kroot with genestealers but was struggling on how to differentiate the 3 positionals. I was dissatisfied with the stealer head as well since it was not a great fit at the back.

But whilst working on the slann rotter I saw that plaguebearers had a rather toad-like appearance and would only need the horns removed and single eye replaced with 2 bulging ones and a few BB bits added.



This got me thinking that the kroot would still work well as representing catchers being slim and agile to represent AG4, ST2 and AV7 with the pleaguebearers are linemen. That meant I just needed to find a more aggressive set of models to use as the Blitzers. I didn’t have to look far as Bloodletters were an ideal choice. They just needed the Plaguebearer heads with the same eyes.
One thing I was not sure about was the lack of noses, so have been considering chopping the mouth parts from the stealers off and sticking these to the pleaguebearer heads, it has the added incentive of coming with frog-like tongues.



Another bonus of using different body types was that it made things easier when it comes to designing the elusive slann stars Lottabottol and Quetzal Leap. I have bought the khorne herald to use as Lottabottol, though he may need to be de-khorned a bit by removing some of the symbols and skulls still. But he will certainly stand out as a star but tie in with the normal blitzers.
