Some people have asked me to do fumbbl dice again this year. To gauge interest a forum thread has been created with poll to pick colours. Only 26 responses so far, which would not be enough to go ahead with it as it stands.

If you are interested makes sure to vote and maybe reply to bump the thread up, the poll is open for the rest of April.



Pearl dice are also possible, but they now cost more than the opaque ones to get made. Also all 6 possible colours have been done in previous years.

If you want those then make sure to post in the thread and if there’s enough interest I’ll include them too. Bear in mind the company I use have a minimum order amount of each colour which means I would need each individual type to have a minimum of 10 sets. Black opaque will easily reach that but can see the others struggling and would only do the most popular in that poll.



I was also asked about my photography set up and thought this would be a good place to show that here.

Many years ago I built a lightbox from cardboard and muslin following an online guide. It is pretty old now and barely held together with gaffer tape, but it is still what I use for virtually all the model pics I take.

The lighting is provided by 2 lamps I use for normal painting along with a spare lamp as the 3rd light source to the rear, though it doesn’t really add much. There’s also a daylight bulb in the ceiling light.




Even with this and the camera set to brighten the image the initial pics still turn out quite dark. This images need to be run through software to adjust the levels and make it look better.




I recently bought a proper lightbox for £60 with its own built in lighting. However I have not been very happy with the pics that have come out of it, even when using the lamps to provide additional lighting the initial images look better but I don’t like the final versions as much. It may be the case that experimenting with different settings on the camera or trying out different options on the software would produce better results.
