NBFL Superbowl tonight!!
The NBFL will be previewing the probable *actual* NFL Superbowl this coming season, as the happygrue's Green Ball Attackers try to defend their title against licker's New Angryland Paintriots. Should be a great matchup to watch both of them get diced :D

9:30pm EST / 6:30pm PST

Bring rocks to throw at frogs and bulls!!

(oh... and I guess good luck to both coaches ;)

I don't see how the NBFL Super Bowl will possibly be a preview of the actual one, especially since Brady will be missing the first 4 games of the season. Also, don't think Green Bay is that solid this season, in spite of Aaron Rodgers possibly being the greatest active QB in the league.

Speaking of Brady's suspension, think we can suspend Brady from New Angryland for 4 games, to match the real world? :-p

Actually we're the Bulltrots, but Paintriots is nice too.

Brady was already killed early this season, or late last season, the current Brady is basically a gigantic poser just holding down a roster spot until we can draft some other 7th rounder.

But yeah, come throw your rocks and enjoy what should be an interesting game. Bulltrots are in pretty good shape, just missing Cory Killin who died in the AFCCG, but the Attackers are very light on skilled players, and lost their all timer Woodson earlier in the season.

Can a bunch of rookie frogs with a couple stars get enough mileage out of their inducements to win another superbowl? Or will the Bulltrots finally break through and claim their first title?

I know who I'm betting on. But without ex-cons prediction all will be for naught anyway.

happygrue will somehow luck his way into another win. I'm just rooting for lots and lots of dead players.

Brady will come back and oust the bumbling AFC LEast'ers... and the Steelers will be too beat up by the Cincy Bengali to put up a fight. Meanwhile, the Pack with a healthy Jordy, trim Lacy and new weapon Cook will dominate.

Oh yeah... sorry, licker... Bull trots. ;D

Hey, I already lost the all time best blitzer in any division (R, B, or L) just before the playoffs, and the rest of the roster is pretty thin... a bit more death and there won't be anyone left. ;)

Both teams a bit banged up, as licker says, but NA has the better roster. We'll be aiming for higher leaps and higher rolls. ;)

Better roster came through!

It was a tight game in spite of the poor results Grues slann were managing with their block dice. But that's the thing about Slann and a wizard, nothing is ever really safe.

NA managed to survive the one leap on the ball, and the Attackers didn't pop a 1st half wizard to try to prevent a score as they had no chance to recover and score themselves.

1-0 at the half, but the Slann still had 12 players and the wizard for the 2nd half. Perfect defense on the kick allowed NA to really gum up the Slann position, and more mediocre block dice didn't give Green Bay any relief. The turns passed with both sides trying to establish some kind of advantage, Green Bay held the ball back out of blitz range, and NA just kept on exchanging blocks around the LoS, not allowing for any meaningful frog break outs.

Eventually the Bulltrots block dice and mighty blow began to take a toll though, and the frogs had to make a risky play. The ball was advanced, a lighting bolt zapped the only in range dwarf, and there was a chance.

NA countered by knocking down a frog in scoring range, and fouling out another, while pressuring the ball and basically forcing the frogs to go for a low odds scoring play. But it wasn't completely unreasonable. The blitz pushed off the marking player, and the ball was advanced with a couple gfis for a 4+ roll. However the dwarf blocker came up with a 6! to intercept it and seal away the match.

I hope you enjoyed it even through the struggles your team had grue. I never felt confident about anything up until that interception.

It was a good game! Never really hit our stride, a combo of lack of some stars that made the regular season easier and good blocking from the CDs. Once down players it becomes a gamble: play for the ball or play for the next half. Hard to know if I made the right calls or might have had better chances with another direction. Surely a JU leaping Frenzy/Jugger blitzer was sorely missed.

Last play: My gut said 30% chance, Samba action calculator says 32% with RR (and it's a bit better than that since with a pow instead of a push on the 1d then there wouldn't have been an int chance, which is the bit that failed).

Still, hardly a good sign that my chances to tie for OT hinged on using the wiz on offense and then throwing a 4+ pass (though no GFI, I had been calculating avoiding that). :D

Well done shutting the frogs down!

It is always hard to know. I think I played much more 'safely' than I would have normally, but I figured that making you decide when to 'roll the dice' was better than just offering up positions where it made sense to roll them.

I eschewed a couple 1st half fouls to try and keep the positions worse for you to attempt the steals. Had I gone for them and been successful? Would have made my game much easier.

Had I gone for them and failed? Would have allowed you better chances at the ball, or forced me to score early.

Since it worked for me, I can say they were the right decisions, but I'm not even so sure about that. You still got the opportunity to hit the ball carrier, and still had the chance for the scatter to favor you.

That it didn't well, that's just how the dice rolled :)

I was actually quite disappointed that I only took out 4 frogs in the 1st half, and only one of them 'mattered', though at least that catcher stayed KOed for the duration anyway. I guess it was 5, but you did apo the 44 niggler, and I didn't get him until turn 6 I think.

I confused the gfis with the leap/dodge, it was 3+ blitz (where a knock down mattered to avoid a later 2+) 2+ leap, 2+ dodge 4+ pass 2+ intercept 3+ catch. With reroll. Certainly not hopeless, but 'unlikely'.

Depending on KOs back at that point I would have had 2 turns to score, and you were down the Juggs blitzer and the 44 niggler (and other assorted rookies). Of course OT would have still given you a fair chance if you received, again, depending on KOs. Part of me was actually hoping for you to make that TD, so that I could have won with my vaunted CD 2 turn strike capability :) Would have been more dramatic than some dumb dwarf lucking his way to a 6 on an interception :)

would have been tense, that is for sure!

It's also kind of fun to see the stat breakdown that is now available, confirming what I was feeling in game that I was getting *some* pows but you had me pretty solidly beat on that, with stuns all over while I had lots more pushes and both downs. I just couldn't make the space I was hoping for and started running out of time.

specifically: looking at total blocks, successful 2d and then the number of armor rolls those generated as a result... that had me tearing my hair out as I couldn't get anyone down (let alone injured) so I ended up having to blitz with the wrestler who I wanted to save to go after the ball, just to try to use some of those mighty both downs I had plenty of. :D

Maybe I should have just gone after the ball every turn, then those would have been useful! ;)

Yes, I imagine you were frustrated with the block dice. Especially in the 1st half.

In the second half you had some 'annoying' 1ds that allowed you to stabilize the position over a couple of turns though, else I would have likely been able to get someone down to threaten the ball and force your hand earlier.

Though to be sure, my AV9 (and the one AV8) did it's job. You really never were able to get any blitzes on my hobbers because the positions never really allowed you that luxury. I'm sure you were planning on 'hunting' them to some degree.

You also were never able to set up any fouls of import. I can't really claim any great brilliance in that, though I was trying to play 'around' it, but the numbers, and the positions were in my favor to the point where you were wise to not try and force anything, and I didn't really have to be too careful.

I've had a slew of BB2 games recently where I take a bribe against some high TV Chaos kill team, but just never get a chance to foul anything because they are grinding me too much and I cannot afford to give up position to set anything useful up.
