Nuffle moves in mysterious ways
What are Nuffles plans with one of my Wood Elf linemen?

https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=10495467

First he rolls +STR and gets to STR4. Then he gets a -STR injury and moves back to STR3. I decide not to retire him and see what other plans Nuffle has for him. My decision is rewarded: Today he made 4 casualties in a single match! This alone proves that -STR injured players should NOT be retired. They can be very valuable!

I'm betting his next roll will be +STR again...

But really, he should be retired. He adds a lot of TV for no benefit. I mean why would you show up to the game with an anchor tied around your plsyers neck? :)

The team looks like they're held together with string. 2 injured Wardancers? In fact all the positionals bar the tree are injured. Great record considering :)

How does it prove -STR players shouldn't be retired? He's not a real -STR player, he's more of a player with an empty level now.

Okay I should have put some more smileys and comments in the blog :-)

Regarding scientific winning chances it indeed doesn't make sense to keep all those permed players. You are all very right about that.

But, there are several other arguments to keep 'em nonetheless:

Fluff wise I want to keep them and see how their career evolves. Maybe Nuffle really likes those players and gives them awesome rolls in the games. This leads to nice stories to boast about :-)

A STR3 blodge player is actually quite a good LoS guard and he will die soon enough from that duty. The fact that he has a useless 'slot' filled with +STR is only relevant if he lives long enough to become a legend. This won't heppen with wood elf linemen in general, and definately not if you put 'em on the LoS :-) This 50k 'bloat' he has isn't much of a problem in a league either as the matchups are regardless of TV and I actually like to see inducements in action (even on the oppo's side), they add to the fun of a game.

The STR2 wardancer with guard is actually very useful in games. He doesn't do any blocking or blitzing himself anyway. He just uses his leap & guard skills to assist in breaking cages and guarding ball carriers, and also acts as a blitz & block magnet until he's dead. Even in R or B I think I wouldn't fire him. Just make use of him until he's dead and don't give him any SPPs in the meantime.

So: I'll just keep hold of 'em, and replace them once they're dead. But thanks for the tips anyways :-)

Seems to be working judging the team record. On the edge fluff decision however. Kudos for making it work as it seems.

Medon, my advice is to take a dive with your sister in the rain, let her talk about the things you can't explain. To touch is to heal; to hurt is to steal. If you want to kiss the sky you better learn how to kneel.

From personal experience the more you can prove to Nuffle that you don't care about winning - the more you shall be gifted with unbeatable dice!

I understand the fluff reasons. But you are wrong about the +St just being an "empty slot". The TV cost for the +St still applies to the player, meaning that he is way more expensive than a 2 skill player has any sensible right to be.

+St isn't a cheap skill choice to have.

or to put it in perspective, he costs 10k more than a player with 4 regular skill rolls.
