Chat Abuse: offenses and bad netiquette
Hallo everybody,

I already started a campaign against bad behavior in the in game chat, reporting matches with screenshots and copy/paste of the conversations with players who are not using respect in the chat.
I play since 2006 through this site, and I do that for fun because it's a game and this is the sense of the TO PLAY.

Now, the best of this community is that it is small enough that practically we know each others, and wide enough to still have fun games and discover new players and tactics.

Since 2006 I played 900 games, I had a couple of holes for personal life issues, but I never even thought to play without:
a) Respecting my opponent and b) trying to have fun.

If having fun is not always possible, since it is a dice based game and a competition where it's not always you the winner, I can't really stand the loss of respect of the people who is virtually sitting with me to play the game.

First of all, we all have problems in real life, and we try to escape for a match, not to bring frustrations in it.
Second, because you don't dare to say such things if I seat in front of you.

I can't remember how many times it happened to me since 11 years of playing (not many, fortunately) but, since 10 days, I choose to say stop to this aggressive manners, to do so, I already reported 2 people (the first one already said sorry) for offenses, blasphemies and bad behavior against me, immediately stopping the game until they say sorry or until an admin contact me and decide what to do, and I strongly encourage all the community to do so to keep this game clean, sportsmanlike and FUN.

I know the chat optionality is already been discussed, but please keep also in mind that the chat is OPTIONAL, so crash your mouse, but don't offend people, or don't be upset if they start to report you or block your fundamental gaming sessions.

Thank you

firpino

Well said. I agree that sometimes it's possible to forget that the other coach is also a human too (well most of them anyway!)

A little cockiness should be accepted to win the mind game.

But there's no need to be rude at any times. I report those coaches as well.

nice idea, to stop the game and refuse to play further until matters are solved, by opponent or admins, never thought about that, i will consider it if it happens to me too.

...please don't burn up FUMBBL's servers - 2016 had enough shenanigans imho!

I think it's easier for you to just play forward. Have you ever thought that you are the problem with these "abuses?" Maybe it's your lack of empathy during a game that frustrates your opponents. Maybe you don't say a word, and people ramble on about their hatred of Nuffle towards a blank coach? I dont really know.

There is no excuse for cursing. It only proves that one lost his mind.

If you feel that an opponent has stepped over the line then take screenshots, leave the game and submit a ticket. The staff will deal with it.

If no one complains or comments then nothing will improve.

Though, what is offensive or not will be different for different people.

Tbh back in the early years of FUMBBL there were far more people using bad language (including myself) than I experience it in these days. I can't remember the last time when I was insulted apart from the same assumption of the same people steadily pressed for time.

Then again I am ready to defend anyone who mocks about a God who claims to be the judge of every man in afterlife. Blasphemy never again shall be enforced by penalty.

I hate when people blaspheme me. They can go to hell...
Posted by Dominik on 2016-12-04 20:04:20
You wish!
Posted by Jeffro on 2016-12-04 20:15:39
Yar!... wish them to hell. That's all it takes, right? ;)

define "respect"?

but if we're all defining respect for ourselves, next person that takes the Holy Lord's Name in vain, I will stop the game and report them. fun times.

Beezus Heist of the former Orleans Saints; guys.

Make sure you get a screenshot whenever this happens. For windows users theres a cool tool called 'snipping tool' that lets you make a super easy image of whatever you need. then just save it and upload it to your gallery in fumbbl.

I love rock and roll, i also love threatening/going-through-with-the-threats-with nuisance coaches who oughta get their life into a more useful venue... Like cement mixes.

Please report,

Actually, and this is just general screenshot advice that you all should feel free to use for gaming as well, ShareX is an excellent tool that lets you crop and screenshot anything on your desktop instnatly, and then automatically upload it to your imgur/photobucky/vgyme account.

I think "shoot yourself", "fuck you" and when I asked to moderate "don't bust my balls and play because I don't want to lose my time" in a 0 - 0 match where I was playing a 12 men roster Goblin team(I stopped just before start of the 2nd half, so send off the cheaters) against Vampires, in a Ranked match, allows me to say "hey dude, it's just for fun!".
And to stop the game.

Anyway, I'm available to send the screenshots or the copy/paste to whoever interested, games are public and so are the conversations, and since this kind of thing can happen, you can judge yourselves my level of "empaty" or resistance to offenses.
Just PM me and stop this rabbits hiding behind a screen.

Where is chat optionality being discussed? I'd like to get in on that.
Posted by Uedder on 2016-12-05 02:26:09
Agree. Although Goblins and Flings are allowed to be abusive.

Millennials have taken over!

All is lost!

We used to be able to do manly ball-busting in a friendly atmosphere...

Now I guess it hurts feelings...

Sigh.

What about people who consider 'Jesus Christ' and 'God' as words (just words) to use in their expansive vocabulary?
