CIBBL Spring Season 1

Don Enrique was rather excited. Finally after the long winter and rather disappointing performance in the friendlies spring season came with the first true test for the Noblemen.
The noble knights of Carcassone visited them. Their trip was long and bothersome, as the passes of the Irrana Mountains were blocked by snow and goblin raids delayed their arrival. They finally arrived in our town with all 8000 fans in their retinue. After they set camp just outside the city limits and rested a couple of days it was finally time to meet them on the field.

Don Enrique watched from his office window on the highest level of the Montetriste Stadium. The wall that was facing the inside of the stadium was replaced by a giant window (it cost a fortune, but he considered worth it).
The game was played in perfect, although a bit chilly Blood Bowl weather. The Bretonnians brought a masked chainsaw wielding Empire madman to the field, hoping to massacre the Noblemen.
The Knights won the coin flip and they decided to receive. A short kick to their right side meant the course of the offense was set. A strong push on the right side by yeomen and knights, coupled with some domination on the line of scrimmage helped the Bretonnians score easily.
1-0 Knights.
Before the kickoff Don Gabriel came up with a brilliant plan for the drive. It was the usual plan with the nimble Bernardo advancing behind the line, then running in for the score. The Noblemen were trying to push on their right flank, but even outnumbered their opponents managed to stop them there. Things were loking bad, so Don Gabriel shouted to the receptors to give the ball to Carlos Dosdaga. This is where history repeated itself, with Bernardo refusing to hand the ball to Carlos and the two starting a heated argument. This gave time for a brave knight to tackle Bernardo from behind. The only thing that saved him was his natural instinct as he stepped aside in the very last moment, so instead of being flattened he was just pushed out of the way. The Brets swarmed the middle, leaving their right side a bit open. After some blocking and a run worthy of an Estalian dancer Bernardo ran to the left side, screened by his teammates. The Bretonnians pushed him to the sideline, blocking his path and it was looking hopeless. Juan came to the rescue, knocking down one knight, while pushing another away from the receptor's way. Bernardo only had to slip through the tackle of a yeomen and ran as fast as he can without falling over. He managed both and ran on for the score.
1-1!

In the halftime broadcast the spectators could see Don Gabriel threating Bernardo and Carlos, then crying, then begging on his knees, then after the players turned their backs display a wide array of obscene gestures.

Second half saw nine Knights players kicking off to a full team of Estalians. Nine quickly became eight, then seven and with their numbers dwindling the Bretonnians' hopes were too. The Noblemen once again pushed on the right side and this time didn't meet any real opposition so they scored in the middle of the second half.
2-1 Noblemen!

The last drive of the game started with eight Knights versus eleven Estalians and it looked grom for the attackers. Soon a peasant landed in the stands amongst their own fans, who escorted him back to the dugout. Against overwhelming numbers the Knights still tried to send receivers downfield, but they fell or were hunted down. The final move from the Estalian side almost made Don Enrique's heart stop. Sancho, the former journeyman, who already had a casualty to his name in the game tried to take down Thiebaut, the lowly peasant. After a violent headbutt both fell and it seemed that Sancho met his end. The strange looking Alberto, the Estalian apothecary ran onto the field in his plague doctor garb and managed to revive him. The whole stadium let out a sigh of relief.

Knights Play of the Game: The almost fatal injury caused by Thiebaut, despite being attacked by another Noblemen player in the dying seconds of the game.
Noblemen Play of the Game: Bernardo's run for the score at the end of the first half, managing to stay on his feet against a knight's tackle, then finding an opening to the right flank, finally breaking through the defense, despite being surrounded. Credit for this goes to Juan Robleduro, who cleared two knights out of the way in one mighty running block.
CabalVision Game Summary: An evenly matched first half was followed by a rather one sided second one as more and more Knights players left the field.
