“CIBBL year 4: summer: SCRIBBL Climax Qualifier II: game one

The Meddlers start the new season with a much-needed win.

Secret Cult of Shiamoto decided to receive, but couldn't remove any player from the pitch in the opening turn. Worse, they lost their sole dirty player after a foul. The elves in turn, ko'd an ashigaru on the blitz, so that the Meddlers had a 2-player advantage by turn 2. Timaris Stormwing, the Meddlers' coach, didn't know if that had ever happened before. Despite this, the turn-1 fireball targeting 5 opposing players only hit a single Sumo, and was largely useless.

Timaris had also induced Eldril Sidewinder, not realizing he has lost a point of ST and AG. But he still functioned until he got badly hurt somewhere during the second half.

Trying to use the numbers advantage the Meddlers increased the pressure on the ball, forcing the ball carrier to make a run for it. This opened up an excellent opportunity for a 2d blitz, but alas the elves snaked a dodge. The Cult decided to score in turn 6, leaving 3 turns to the elves for the equalizer. While trying to blitz Morlanna, the Cult snaked a GFI in turn 7, opening the way for the equalizer in turn 8. due to faulty instructions of the wood elf coach, the Meddlers left an opening though and lost the ball in turn 8, but could luckily still recover it: 1-1 at halftime.

The second half started with a Blitz!, ruining the Meddlers' offensive drive. Nuffle helped a hand though, 'cause the elves inflicted two injuries upon the Northen Niponese in turn 1 of the second half. A few turns later the Meddlers broke through the opposition's lines and ko'd a Samurai. This allowed the elves to stall until turn eight: 2-1. Timaris grinned with satisfaction.

After the game Timaris Stormwing reflected on the victory with mixed feelings. Sure, the result is the only thing that counts. But both Beldroth Boombark, the team's treeman, and Thuralin will miss the next game. Not only will this leave the elves short on numbers, but it also means a lot less hitting power. Worse, they'll have to depend on some unrelible yourneymen to fill up the numbers. Still, not a bad day for the Meddlers overall, Timaris concluded. And two nice Niponese hats for the secret collection too. Nope, definitely not a bad after all...
