#8 Rainyday Nostarstonight – Dead (RIP)
#14 Nottoohot Nottoocold – Smashed Hand (MNG)
An uneventful match, this one, in which two elfy teams basically did a bunch of elfy stuff and one side won in the end.

It began with the wood elves receiving the kick and our traditional two-turn offensive drive was carried out in typical style, although we were helped by Kalos86 rolling some bad blocking dice. I know this because he told me, and he's a better coach than me so I guess he would know.

On the high elves offensive drive we were also helped by bad dice on Kalos86's part, as he again pointed out - although to be honest, I didn't really need to have it pointed out as I could plainly see the prone catcher in my endzone (the one who had been carrying the ball until very recently). Well, making hay while the sun shone (although for once the sun wasn't actually shining, it was just perfect Bloodbowl weather), I collected the ball and threw a very pleasant long bomb to the MA9 wardancer, who ran it in for the second score.

I then messed up, not realising we'd rolled a riot and lost a turn, so I set up for a typical two-turn score and then realised I didn't have a second turn! Still, I got in another long pass, and the wardancer I'd sent downfield on a fool's errand survived the gang foul which closed out the half.

The first half of the second half (or third quarter, for all you mathematicians out there) was a slow advance upfield by the high elves, who kept the ball reasonably safe in a guard-cornered cage until their zippy catcher could make a break for freedom . I could have caught him (just) but I failed my go for it and reroll trying to get myself an extra tackle zone and this left the catcher free to score.

As Kalos86 had been so careful to point out all the bad dice in the first half, I thought he might have mentioned the failed go for it and reroll, but he didn't say anything so I guess it wasn't so much a case of bad dice as bad positioning on my part, making me have to go for it in the first place. And Kalos86 is a better coach than me, so I guess he would know.

But strange than he didn't mention the automatic kill on one of my players either, or my twice-failed throw which ended up in the arms of a high elf and allowed him to score his third TD - I guess these were also cases of bad play rather than bad dice.

I gave Kalos86 one last opportunity to comment on my bad dice, during my one-turn touchdown attempt, where I again failed a go for it and the following sure feet roll, but instead Kalos86 helpfully pointed out that there had perhaps an easier way of carrying out the one-turn attempt. So again, by not playing better I was simply being my own worst enemy and should never have expected to succeed with such foolishly risky play. And who am I to argue? Kalos86 is clearly a better coach than me, so I guess he would know best.

The passing game was pretty reasonable though.
