SWL Team. Joined in season 15 in one of the Regional divisions. The Eternal Rage finished on top of the table in their first season with a 5/2/0 record (one win from a forfeit). <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=group&op=view&at=0&group=647&show=13008">Commissioner Twahn Memorial Regional League XV</a> winners. -------------- Re my forfeit vs OldBugman. Posted 21 November 2006 Some gossip going on, so here is my side of the story. 1) OB and I discussed a possible game time a week and a bit ago. I had an interstate trip for 3 days (returning 16 November), and we did not finalise a day/time. I suggested Monday 20 November as my preferred time. We also discussed the weekend as a possible time to play. 2) Neither of us talked to the other or used Site PMs until the weekend. I sent OB a IRC message at 1 AM my time one night on the weekend asking if he was still good for Monday. No response, but he tells me he got the message later. 3) I send him another IRC message on Monday morning asking if hwe still good for tonight. We discuss times. I wish to play from 7:30 PM Perth time, he says that is too late for him. I am at work, and then have bed/bath time for my 2 kids so cannot play at his latest start time of 6 PM Perth time. 4) OB says that that 7:30 Perth time is past the deadline anyway. I advise that is the approximate time I have played 75% of my SWL games and that is the night I have set aside for SWL. He has to go to bed by 8 PM Perth time, and I cannot start a weekday game till 7:30 PM. I offer to forfeit, because I did not know that 7:30 PM Perth time (9:30 PM AEST until daylight saving started recently) was actually past the official deadline. In summary, I think we were both at fault here. Neither he or I sent the other coach a PM to confirm the date/time after our intial discussion and what LITTLE I know of the SWL rules are that PM is the way to arrange matches. I did send two IRC messages (on on the weekend and one this morning), so I initiated contact twice after returning from my trip. I assumed he could play Monday evening, and maybe he assumed I would message him about playing on the weekend (though I assumed he would message me too). Thinking it over, I am not even sure I am clearly more to blame than OB anymore... he certainly didn't PM me or initiate contact with me following our initial discussion around 11 or 12 November. Whether or not I should be the one who forfeited, I don't really care. Due to the mixup, I could not play OB until this coming weekend. This might have been possible with some discussion with other SWL Admins, but I did not think of this until now, and OB has either forfeited me, or talked to one of the SWL Admins who forfeited me. In hindsight we should have both discussed it with another SWL Admin before I told OB I was willing to forfeit. In hindsight, I think another SWL Admin should have also heard my side of the story and discussed options with me directly before awarding the forfiet in OB's favour. Lack of communication from three parties... Hindsight is wonderful. Did I forfeit on purpose. Hell no, I don't care about my team that much. I was going to hire a Wizard and try to win or draw no matter what the cost as it would have been great to see OB's long term Premier team facing a battle to avoid relegation. I have never dodged a Tournament game before, even my Woodies vs killer Chaos teams, and I am not going to start with SWL which is very low on my list of priorities and the team has very little sentimental value to me. -------------- |
