This team joined Svenska Ligan (The Swedish League) in July 2011. They played their first match, a friendly, on 1 August 2011 against Skirbo's Amfibiekompaniet (Slann). It was a great game, and very tense, and Pite-Papporna just barely managed to secure the win after overtime. This was my first game with the new ogres, and I liked it. The snotlings dodged very well, the ogres handled the ball remarkably well, and there was even a successful ttm towards the end. The first season in Ligan (season 33) didn't go very well, finishing in 4th place in Division 3, out of six teams, with 1 0 3. However, Ogres are hard to play initially, and the team is improving. After the season the team played a friendly vs CptMofo's IFK Bellevue and won 4-0, in its best match so far! After the game, the fifth ogre on the team, Lars-Axel (nr 8), joined the team. Season 34 went much better. The team finished 2nd in Division 3, with 7 points (2 2 1). During the season the team's sixth ogre, Lars-Ove joined. He quickly got the Block skill! In the end, Pite-papporna got to the play-offs, narrowly missing the chance to be promoted to Division 2. Still, the team isn't all that strong yet, and it will do them good to stay in Division 3. In season 35 the team nevertheless played in Div 2 and performed very badly, finishing last with a 0 1 3 result. But they're finally starting to skill up properly. Season 36 saw the team WIN Division 2 with 11 points (3 2 0)! The team played very well throughout the season, but great tragedy befell them in their fourth game, where the emerging star Bengt was killed by a fairly unskilled orc, after the apo had been used on another ogre with an mng. He was replaced by a new recruit straight away, Göran, who played well in his first game, the last of the season, and got his first skill. The division trophy is dedicated to Bengt, may he rest in peace. Season 37 was the worst in a long time. Playing in Div 1 without Bengt proved impossible, and the team ended up with 2 points (0/2/3), finishing last in the division. They will now be demoted to Division 2. Summer cup 2012. Pite-papporna lost both their games, although they probably should have won both. The first team they met received 400k worth of inducements, including Morg, which made the match difficult. The second match, vs Odium Khan's En annan sida av Söderfors went to overtime, and the team was just one square of ttm away from winning, despite having taken incredibly heavy casualties among the ogres, guaranteeing the first match of next season to be a loss! After the summer cup, the newest ogre recruit, Göran, was fired and replaced by Christer. Göran was hurt during the deadly game vs Khan and got -ag. Not too bad for an ogre, but with only one skill and 11 spp, and with three ogres missing for the next match, firing him was my best option. Season 38 in Div 2. Ended up with 0-2-2 and finished 5th. Were demoted to division 3. Season 39. Finished 4th (with fillers in places 5 and 6!), with 0-1-2. The team is getting bloated. Or rather, ogres automatically become bloated once they skill up a bit, as their skills don't really make them better, unless the get doubles or stat increases. Still, it's a fun team to play, but they suck a bit too much a bit too often. Pite-Papporna took part in the SL summer cup of 2014. They won the first match, and were really close to winning the second match as well, but just failed a ttm and then lost in OT. The thought to bring them back to the league did cross my mind, but there's just not enought time for two leagues. The team once again took part in the SL summer cup in 2015. They lost the first game, and then won the first game of the loser cup. The final of the loser cup could easily have gone a lot better, but I was terribly nuffled and in the end it was a complete thrashing, 4-1. With two ogres mng whatever the team plays next is going to be difficult. |
