The final touches to the stadium - his stadium, the very first 'Dehomonion' -were being made, and only the impressive (and expensive) sign awaited placement. Teams of slaves hauled on ropes, straw bosses guiding the pull and slack, and the sign settled slowly, inexorably, into position.
This was a far better idea than attending that piddling tournament. Let the other warlords squabble over trifling trophies. Dehomon would host his OWN tournament, and revel in the spoils and adulation of the masses in a far more dignified manner.

Dehomon watched with an indulgent grin on his cracked-viasge, as the sign dropped ever lower. A sudden gust of wind sprang up, leaving Dehomon with narrowed eyes. Sure enough, the sign skewed wildly to the left. Another gust, this time from a completely different direction had him running towards the teams of slaves, eldritch power already coruscating down his gauntleted arms. A third gust hit, and the Warlord had to leap aside, cursing, as a guy rope snapped, cracking down to strike a nearby slave who fell, bloodied, into the dust. His team-mates at once sent up a great wailing, and despite the shouts of their boss, could not retain their grip. The sign, once again aided by a capricious breeze, swung dangerously low, and now other slave-teams let go their ropes, or were forcibly pulled hither-and-thither.

Dehomon stood up, anger radiating, eyes aflame, and watched as the sign came pin-wheeling down into the nearest wall of the stadium, which crumpled under the assault like tissue-paper. The sounds of snapping wood and screeching metal echoed across the dustbowl, intermingled with a mocking, hissing, disembodied laughter. Dehomon cursed again, and spun on his heel, stalking away to find his lieutenants. If the Lord of Change wanted him at the tournament, then so be it.

The Seraphim will play, and the Seraphim will WIN!
