A phrase that still sends Cabalvision reporters into a Frenzy, and one that is still synonymous with Nut-based scandal controversy.

On the 17th of Vorgeheim, 2172, the Delectable Nut Committee (DNC) Headquarters was broken into, and the walnuts planned for the next day's Nut Feast were stolen.

Moot government and constables alike claimed ignorance of the affair, and the media had a field day with stories about 'giant, mutant squirrels' on the loose - it was one particularly clever reporter who dubbed the affair 'WalnutGate' (When asked about this afterwards, the reporter could not give a satisfactory explanation for the name, and in the end simply claimed that it 'sounded right'.)

The Scandal grew when it was evident that the Moot Governor at the time, AND his staff, were heavily involved in a massive coverup - the Sheriff Walnutgate Committee found traces of nuts in the Governors desk; these nutty crumbs were later analysed by independent Gastronomic Experts and determined to be, in fact, Walnut crumbs.

The media were in a large part responsible for the investigation into the Governor, as two reporters at the Mootington Post had been tipped off by an anonymous source within the Moot Constabulary (the eponymous 'Deep Root'.)

As the list of 'conspirators' grew, the media once again clamoured at a new, bizarre scandal - every one of the persons responsible for the theft and consumption of the DNC Walnuts had ancestors who claimed dalliance with Tree-folk!
