Shhhhhh!

On one of the larger islands in the Southern waters of The Sea of Dread is the legendary Library of Indra. The island is part of a larger group of islands ruled over by the Gorilla King Indra.

There has been a library on this site for aeons. The young Simyin race discovered it’s treasures and learnt from the secret knowledge held there. The original ancient scrolls have since been joined by newer texts, either written by the Simyin scholars or taken as gifts or prizes from visitors and explorers. The library grew until it filled almost the whole island. The Simyin who dwell here all work in some fashion for the venerated Librarians.

A young Orangutan named Watang was an acolyte working under the famed old Librarian Korah. He was content with his work and studies but always thought there was something more to his existence, something big he was meant to do.

One day Watang was at one of the sacred pools washing his masters writing utensils when he saw an object in the water. He plucked it out and inspected it closely, clucking with excitement when he saw it was a scroll case. He knew not how long it had been submerged here or what circumstances had led it to be here in this place at this time. He clung to the precious cargo until later when he retreated to his nest for the evening's rest. Once settled he cracked the scroll case and his eyes widened as he began to read. What he saw would change his life and the fortunes of his beloved Library forever for inside the scroll case were perfectly preserved programmes sold at various Blood Bowl games across the Old World.

Watang pored over these manuscripts every spare moment he had, learning the rules and regulations of this fascinating game. His only regret was that he would never see this beautiful endeavour in real life because he was bound to become a Librarian and would never leave the island. Watang sulked and moaned so much that his friend, the Chimpanzee Jaya, became concerned and asked what had caused this malaise. Watang explained that he had learnt of this amazing game but would never see it played. Jaya was resolved and got together a ragtag bunch of Simyin’s willing to try Watang’s Blood Bowl.

They practiced and learnt the theories but never played a competitive game until the King Indra found out. His Highness knew that his subjects would excel and so allowed Watang and his team to enter a league that was taking place between other nearby Kingdoms.

Seasons
Rookie Season:
Winter Friendlies were tough. Jaya the Chimp, best friend and confidant of Coach Watang was killed trying to Blitz! a Vampire known as Oswiu of Morrfenn. The team have however learnt a lot from their first 3 competitive games of Blood Bowl.

Here's what Crunch Zones own Quingin Tonec and Nigel Likely had to say:
NL
"Not many teams within Ind, Lumbria and Khuresh are known for their fighting prowess, with some exceptions"
QT
"That said, I would not want to end up in the clutches of one of the apes from the Library of Indra."
NL
"Ah yes one of our new Winter Newbie teams!"
"The problem with that sort of thing is that it makes trying to predict their chances in something like this a lot harder, the coach is new, the team is new, and no one on it has more than 7 SPP right now"
"This is a developing team in every sense of the word, hence the lack of outward support for it"
QT
"I bet they'll develop a fan base in no time. I mean, apes in a library? It's just a natural fit."

Spring Season started well with the teams first ever win! However, defeat in the final 2 games, both by 2-0 margins meant the Library of Indra finished 3rd.

Summer brought the Cup of Ancient Knowledge. A draw followed by 2 losses meant that the Library of Indra had to finish strong, and they did. The win against arch rivals - Offa's Hearthweru, including the Vampire which killed beloved Chimp Jaya, was celebrated with gusto. The last game of the cup was a tight 1-0 victory meaning the team finished 4th, missing out on 3rd due to TD difference.

Autumn found the Library of Indra drafted into the Marble Division against some tricky teams. A brutal match against the Slayers ended in a draw but the Apes suffered 6 CAS. 2nd up was the up-and-coming Gardeners of Nurgle where victory was earned thanks to 2 TD's and 2 dead Gardeners. Next was a turbulent game which ended 3-2 to Londinium's Lunatics. Then the Leicheberg Lycans visited the Library ground leaving victorious. 2 losses on the bounce meant the next match was a must win and win we did, beating Norscan Curse by 2-1. Confidence was high going into the penultimate game against Thirteenth Circle Abominations but the combination of 6 Rat Ogres AND Fezglitch was too much to handle. The last game was against regional rivals the Bear Clutchers. 1-1 at half time and a great kick in the 2nd half meant the Apes had the ball for most of the drive, however they couldn't quite get it into the Clutchers territory and the game ended a draw. A disappointing 6th place finish.

Seasons

2nd Season:
The PR team were trying to set up a Winter friendly fixture against the sharks of Crimson Fins but schedules just didn't match. A friendly played against the Water Elementals Tsunami Terrors was a defeat, but with no casualties it was a nice work out to get set up for the Spring regionals.

There's a new team in the region and K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss (quite the tongue twister!) were first up. A CAS heavy turn midway through the 1st half CAS (3 CAS and a KO) turned the tide for us and the Snakemen were unable to score in reply.

Having won the first Spring game, it was a tough 2nd game against reigning regional Champions Bhubaneswar Rampage. Without one of their fearsome Rakshaka's it was a great opportunity to get a positive result and such was the case with a fine 2-1 win. It was not without it's setbacks though as the promising Silverback Mekong was killed by Ghaggar-Hakra the Basilisk.

The final game against the Bear Clutchers was a tough match, the Apes went 1-0 down early on in the 1st half but managed to go into the 2nd half tied at 1-1. They took a battering in the 2nd half and went down again 2-1. However, they never gave up and against all odds came back to level it again 2-2!

A draw was enough to crown the Library of Indra as Champions of the region!

Summer Press conference
Player/Coach Watang walks into the press conference grinning from ear-to-ear, the Regional Champions trophy under his long, shaggy arm. He sets it down on the lectern and raises his yellow eyes to the assembled press.

Reporter: Firstly, Watang, congratulations on the Library of Indra being crowned Spring Regional Champions for The Kingdoms of Ind, Lumbria and the Hinterlands of Khuresh. How does it feel to win your first silverware?
Watang: OOooooOOOOoook! It feels great thanks! When we entered this league we never in our wildest dreams thought we'd be winning a tough region like ours at the, ook, 2nd time of asking. I was just back home receiving a special, ook, commendation from King Indra himself!
Reporter: Next up is the qualifiers for the highly anticipated SCRIBBL Climax Cup, how do you rate your chances of topping your group?
Watang: Well, ook, first up is a potential banana skin. Sport Spawning Zlatlan are experienced campaigners and will definitely be, ook, fresher after not playing since Autumn last year!
Reporter: True, they may be fresher, but there's no subsitute for actual competitive games.
Watang: Ook! Indeed! We're unbeaten in our last 4 competitive games so confidence, ook, is up in the tree tops.
Reporter: Is there any injury news you can give us ahead of the match?
Watang: OOK! One of our veteran Gorillas, Svay is, ook, recovering from a nasty broken neck. He's a tough, oook, coconut though and the Ape-othecary assures me he'll be back for the next game. Varman is still being somewhat protected having smashed both his, ook, knees.
Reporter: There are some highly rated teams in your qualifier group, any that you are particularly nervous about facing?
Watang: Fangsnapper's Clawpack seem to have hit the trees swinging with a comprehensive 2-0 victory. Their, ook, heavy armour and heavy hitters will be a concern for us. The Dukes of Earthquake Valley have had a bad run of form, not winning in their last 6 games, but the wounded Chimp is often more, ook, vicious. Then there's the Sabre Mountain Rattlers who have 8 Ogres! OOOOOOOOOK! What's not to be nervous about there?!?
Reporter: You have some previous with a couple of the teams, a word on the rivalry between you and K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss or Thoughts of Thoth?
Watang: Oook, well, ook, we played Thoughts of Thoth very early on in the Cup of Ancient Knowledge last Summer. It was a tight 1-1 draw but Varman felt the full effect of Hack Enslash's, OOK!, chainsaw and has never been the same since. K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss is a regional, ook, rival who we've played just the once. It was the victory that kicked off our, oook, road to becoming Champions!
Reporter: Thanks for your time today Watang and good luck in the upcoming games.
Watang: OOOK! Thanks very much, here's hoping we can add to the trophy, ook, cabinet!

Watang swings off the lectern and grabs his trophy with his feet before heading out the door, still grinning so much it looks as though his head may split in half.

Summer had mixed results but 2 impressive wins, scoring 5 and conceding 0 towards the end of the SCRIBBL Climax Qualifier VI meant that the Library of Indra finished 3rd against some very strong teams.

Autumn saw the Library of Indra inducted into the Tin division, a sign of their recent good form. It was tough and the apes of the Library only managed 2 wins against True Roots of Khaine and Karak Kadrin Slayers. The issue wasn't hitting but with scoring.

During Winter the Library of Indra played just one friendly and it was against the mighty Eye and Arrow. The performance was acceptable and it was a great occasion despite losing 3-1.

Seasons

3rd Season:
Spring - It was time for the Library of Indra to defend their title. The first match was a 0-0 draw with the Snakemen of K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss. A solid 2-0 win against the Bear Clutchers meant that the Library could have topped the league with a win in their last game against their bitter rivals Bhubaneswar Rampage. However, it was not to be and K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss held on to tie and won by 1 point.

Summer - The Sleeper's Gate was an exciting league with some very strong teams. A great start of 2 wins and 2 draws put the apes in a great position. With everything riding on the last game, the Library needed a win to top the group (sound familiar?). Unfortunately they ran into a rampant Ali's Anarchists and lost 3-1 to finish 3rd.

Autumn - Since that thrashing by the Anarchists, the Apes have gone 8 games without a win. Unable to defend and scoring poorly the Autumn Iron Division consisted of dismal performance after dismal performance. Even Surya, Star Player who had never missed a game, took a nasty injury and will never be the same player. Watang needs to get his players back on the training pitch and come up with some new ideas!
