Yes, I think it is viable, alhough Hail Mary Pass got worse than it used to be (because now Very Sunny and Tackle zones affect the roll).

And Disturbing Presence.

But, yeah, I agree with you, in my opinion Hail Mary Pass remains a good skill for bombers even if it has been nerfed in some circumstances.

So after following the kerfuffle around Wildly Inaccurate on the tabletop I was curious as to how Wildly Inaccurate works in the new BB3 Beta. A pass is Wildly Inaccurate on a modified 1 or less (as per book/FAQ), however in BB3 it deviates from the targeted square. Unclear as to whether this is how it was intended (and I would have expected it to have been errata'd if so) or whether Cyanide have misread the rules.

"If, when making the Passing Ability test, the dice roll is a
1 after modifiers have been applied, the ball will deviate
from the square occupied by the player performing the
Pass action before landing."

BB 2020 rule book, p.49.

Yes, the BB3 behaviour is clearly wrong RAW as it doesn't deviate from the player performing the pass action. However, I know some players have wondered whether this was a mistake.

It would make more sense and be less punishing that way, so here's hoping...
