NBFL Season 27 NFC playoff race with 3 weeks left!

Current standings

NFC South
1 Atlatl Flechettes 6-3-2 51 pts
2 Carolina Pythoness 6-2-3 48 pts
3 Nawlins Lost Saints 1-2-8 13 pts
3 Warpstone Bay Ratscallions 1-2-7 13 pts

NFC West
1 Los Angeles Glams 5-4-2 47 pts
2 Arizona Redbulls 6-0-5 42 pts
3 Seattle Battle Krhawx 5-2-4 41 pts
4 San Foulcisco 69'ers 5-0-6 35 pts

NFC East
1 Woodington Barkskins 5-2-4 41 pts
2 Dallas Crowbar 4-4-3 40 pts
3 New York Kroaks 3-5-3 36 pts
4 Philadelphia Regal Eagles 1-0-10 07 pts

NFC North
1 Chicago PallBearers 7-1-3 52 pts
2 Green Baynana Grabbers 6-3-2 51 pts
3 Destroit Lynels 3-5-3 36 pts
4 Mangledsota Many-Men 2-1-8 17 pts

The race for the #1 seed

Chicago PallBearers 7-1-3 52 pts
Green Baynana Grabbers 6-3-2 51 pts
Atlatl Flechettes 6-3-2 51 pts

It’s unlikely anything can keep one of these three teams from being the 1 overall, but if upsets happen along the way it’s possible the Glams could swoop in. Chicago plays both Green Baynana and Atlalt, while Atlatl already has a win against the Grabbers.

Prediction: Atlatl is likely to take the top spot if they can get by Chicago with a win, and might survive a tie, if the two teams tie in the battle for the North.

The South:
The most boring NFC race, it’s Atlatl’s to win, but Carolina can win out and steal it if Atlatl doesn’t get past Chicago or stumbles against the Ratscallions.
Prediction: Atlatl

The West:

We all know this is the Glams division to lose… and they have every chance to do just that. Arizona and Seattle are in a great spot to win and steal this one away if the Glams slip up. With the Arizona and Glams matchup here in week 12 being the most important game to see who wins it.
Prediction: Glams

The East:

Three teams at or above .500 and somehow favorites for the division winner to be the 4th seed. The West will get to decide the winner for them as the Barkskins only have the “looking at the draft” Eagles within their division. New York and Dallas in week 12 feels like a win or get out game for them.
Prediction: Woodington

The North:

A two team race and these two teams are clearly two of the top teams in the NBFL.. Chicago and Green Baynana play week 13 and a clear winner is a clear division winner.
Prediction: Stupid ^$#!%^# Monkeys

What’s left is wild:

The wild card race will be a fun one. 3 spots left. It’s safe to say that if any teams mentioned below win the division, the division winner is probably in a wild card spot. There is 3 weeks and 21 points out there for every team, so who knows.

Wildcard locks
Chicago 52 pts-
if not the division, they don’t have to win another game and they’re likely in but I think they finish week 14 with 1 more win.

For the final 2 spots
Arizona Redbulls 6-0-5 42 pts
Carolina Pythoness 6-2-3 48 pts
Seattle Battle Krhawx 5-2-4 41 pts
Dallas Crowbar 4-4-3 40 pts
New York Kroaks 3-5-3 36 pts
Destroit Lynels 3-5-3 36 pts
San Foulcisco 69'ers 5-0-6 35 pts

Yeah 21 points isn’t going to help

Mangledsota Many-Men
Nawlins Lost Saints
Warpstone Bay Ratscallions
Philadelphia Regal Eagles
Mangledsota Many-Men

Prediction:
I think 57 points gets you in the playoffs. Carolina a game left against the Many-Men should be enough of a headstart for them to coast in to the 6th seed.
Seattle and Dallas play week 14.. .Winner gets the 7…. Sure why not.

NBFL S27 AFC Playoff Picture - Three Weeks Left

1. Houston (9-2-0, 69 points, nice)
2. Doesn't matter

Hope you enjoyed the review!

Whispering in background

What do you mean we have to do the full article? Ugh, fine.

(note: everyone but Miami and Brew More have played 11 games)

AFC East
1. Miami Coronablights (6-3-3, 51 pts in 12 games)
2. New Zigguratland Chariots (5-4-2, 47)
3. Brew More Gents (4-5-3, 43 in 12 games)
4. Buffalo Chill (4-2-5, 34)

The East certainly hasn't been the one-team race that some may have predicted going into the season. Nay, surprising seasons from the Chariots and Brew More (either of whom different pundits foresaw as being the cellar dweller) have them in contention for not only a wildcard, but maybe the division. Miami does hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over New Zigg, while those chaos dwarfs have an extra game left to potentially get more points. Even forgotten Buffalo isn't that far out at 34 points, and even has a week 13 matchup with the Gents to try and overtake them for a wildcard birth.

AFC North
1. Cleaved Land Bedlam (6-3-2, 51 pts)
2. Bleaksburg Stranglers (4-5-2, 43)
3. No-Skincinnati Bungles (3-1-7, 24)
4. B'altimoor Sk'avens (2-3-6, 23)

Meanwhile the North has essentially played out as predicted, with the Bedlam holding a decent lead going into the final stretch. They do lose on H2H tiebreakers against rival Bleaksburg, however, so they can't be content with their current position. There also is, apparently, and non-zero chance of them grabbing the 1-seed if they win out and Houston loses out (including, you know, Cleaveland beating Houston on the field in week 13). The Stranglers currently sit in fifth in the conference, and while a division title is obtainable, another 10 points or so should secure a wildcard birth at worst.

AFC South
1. Houston Treants (9-2-0, 69 pts, nice)
2a. Icelandic Dolts (3-4-4, 33)
2b. Titannesse Kraken's (3-4-4, 33)
4. Jakesonville Jortles (3-3-5, 30)

Houston has wrapped up the South already, and I believe can secure the only AFC bye with one more win. Meanwhile, the trio of other teams in the division will likely need at least two wins to have a shot at the 7th seed, maybe even a third win or a tie as well.

AFC West
1. Tijuana Charros (5-2-4, 41 pts)
2. Denver Brontos (4-1-6, 31 w/ H2H tiebreaker over KC)
3. KC Cows (4-1-6, 31)
4. Las Vegas Gamblers (3-3-5, 30)

The Charros took an important step forward in their quest to make the playoffs when they beat Denver 2-1 last week, giving themselves not only a solid lead at this point, but perhaps a crucial buffer in the H2H tiebreaker over the lizards. They shouldn't feel safe, however, with two of their final three matchups being against tough, playoff-caliber competition in the Chariots and the Coronablights (in weeks 12 and 14, respectively). This could open up a path for any of the other three teams to steal the division, if they can go on a run to close out the regular season.

Seeding Prediction

1. Houston Treants (South Winner)
2. Cleaved Land Bedlam (North Winner)
3. Miami Coronablights (East Winner)
4. Tijuana Charros (West Winner)
5. Bleaksburg Stranglers (North)
6. New Zigguratland Chariots (East)
7. Buffalo Chill (East)

- It was a tough call between Miami and the Bedlam for the 2 seed, but with an extra game, it felt safer to go with the chaos squad.
- I really wanted to pick someone else to win the West, simply because of Tijuana's brutal schedule. But I have absolutely no faith in anyone else's ability to win enough games to take it from them.
- New Zigg currently has a four point lead on Bleaksburg in terms of wildcard positioning, but a tougher schedule led me to flip them in this prediction.
- Finally, I gave Buffalo the nod for the final spot as they face two sub-.500 teams from the West (Denver and KC), sandwiched around a critical game against Brew More, who is directly in front of them.

With all that being said, there is so much unpredictability when fourteen teams in the conference can theoretically gain 21 pts over the next three weeks. It'll be fun to watch things unfold on the field, so be sure to let us know when you're playing! (Especially if its a Monday, hint hint!)

Ex-con Playoff Preview: NBFL Season 27

It is finally that time of year! Fourteen teams have distinguished themselves from the rest and will fight through a gauntlet for the right to win the Super Bowl! Will we see the Houston Treants repeat as champions, or will someone knock them off and claim the title for themselves?

NFC Playoffs

1. Green Baynana Grabbers (8-4-2, 68 pts; North Winner)
2. Los Angeles Glams (7-5-2, 64 pts; West Winner)
3. Atlatl Flechettes (7-4-3, 61 pts; South Winner)
4. Dallas Crowbar (6-4-4, 54 pts; East Winner)
5. Carolina Pythoness (7-3-4, 58 pts)
6. Chicago PallBearers (7-3-4, 58 pts)
7. Destroit Lynels (6-5-3, 57 pts)

The NFC sees a lot of usual suspects, as most of these teams have playoff experience. Thus it will come down to matchups and maybe a little bit of luck to advance through the rounds.

Green Baynana assumes their usual spot at the top of the pack, perhaps looking to make one final push for a trophy before the injuries start to catch up to them. They came up just short in the big game last season, and will be looking to finish the job this time.

The Glams quietly put together another impressive campaign, dropping a mere two games during the season. While the dropout of Cattle may have helped, they won the West again and have a favorable seed to get the lowest wildcard seed while also avoiding Grue during the divisional round.

The ATL won the South yet again, but they failed to secure the #1 seed and will have a more difficult path through the playoffs now. Still, they have a healthy roster and all the tools they need to compete for the title...except for that whole "Playoff Nelphine" thing.

Dallas makes the playoff for the second season in a row, and looks to follow up last year's wildcard upset with a deeper run this time around.

Carolina gets in for the first time in their second season after seven wins, including ones over fellow playoff teams Chicago and Atlatal. Whether or not they can do it again will be entertaining to see.

Chicago gets back to the playoffs after a hiatus from the league, and then returning mid-season last year. They battled for the North title for much of the season, but couldn't quite keep up their impressive first half throughout the second.

Finally, we have...wait, no, this can't be right. I'm very positive the Destroit was near the bottom of the standings for most of the year. Can someone double check the math for me?

NFC Wildcard

(2) Los Angeles Glams vs (7) Destroit Lynels

The math was double checked and apparently the Lynels did somehow legitimately earn their way into the playoffs. Well, congratulations Dash: your reward is a first round matchup with Stimme!

Destroit won't be getting their normal inducements in this matchup, and Stimme doesn't heavily rely on Dodge, potentially thwarting another edge that the CDs usually have. Expect both teams to throw a fair amount of blocks, and the Apo's to be used early.

Prediction- Los Angeles 2 : 1 Destroit (OT)

While Dash certainly likes his chances in this style of game, the Glams simply know how to win and will find a way to get it done.

(3) Atlatl Flechettes vs (6) Chicago PallBearers

Both of these teams were in the running for the top NFC seed late in the year, but stumbled in games against a division rival to settle into their current spots.

Chicago had an impressive roster to start the season, but it has slowly been chipped away at, resulting in a young Mummy and only one St4 Zombie being available for this game. Atlatl comes into the game fairly healthy, though not especially deep with just 13 players currently. This game will likely be a battle of attrition more than anything; can the Saurii armor hold out long enough to beat down waves of regenerating undead?

Prediction- Atlatl 2 : 1 Chicago

Both teams control the field at various times, but the difference will be the little stunty bastards that can slip through the cracks.

(4) Dallas Crowbar vs (5) Carolina Pythoness

Carolina secured a wildcard spot with a Week 14 upset over aforementioned Atlatl, who was attempting to gain the top seed with a win. However, this Dallas squad will be an equally challenging foe, but a far different puzzle to solve.

The Crowbar are built to grind down opponents, armed with tons of bothersome skills like Standfirm, Diving Tackle, and Guard to really make each turn difficult. Plus, with their dynamic duo of runners (one being +MA/+AG, the other +ST/+AG), they are equipped to deal with any situation that arises. Can Vin Riddick [CLE] and the boys crack the dwarven code to advance to the Divisional round?

Prediction- Dallas 2 : 1 Carolina

Playing against a solid Dwarf team is like pulling teeth; eventually the reality of starting every turn with sub-optimal moves breaks you, and sloppy moves play right into their hands. Without the aid of a wizard, it seems like that Carolina won't be able to deal with this bearded battalion.

NFC Divisional Round

Boring chalk predictions so far; surely things will get shaken up soon?

(1) Green Baynana Grabbers vs (4) Dallas Crowbar

The Grabbers await the lowest remaining seed, and after the division winners sweep the three wildcard games, they get matched up with Dallas.

The game will be an interesting tactical affair, as dwarfs have some tools to neutralize the monkies somewhat (ex: dauntless, standfirm vs grab). Can the two runners avoid the clutches of the infamous Davante Adams?

Prediction- Green Baynana 1 : 0 Dallas

Dallas gave the Grabbers a run for their money last season in this very spot (score is a bit misleading), and they will be a tough out again.

(2) Los Angeles Glams vs (3) Atlatl Flechettes

A classic battle of Good vs Evil, the dastardly High Elves seek to thwart the efforts of the gentle Lizards in this divisional game.

At this point, everyone knows about "Playoff Nelphine" and his lack of success in big games; in fact, some of you may be surprised that he wasn't predicted to be knocked out already! But surely he won't be able to compete with the mighty Glams with so much at stake?

Prediction- Los Angeles 2 : 3 Atlatl (OT)

[spanish accent] ¡No es posible!

[regular accent] Only having two Tacklers doesn't hurt as much when the elves only have three Dodge players (at present, respectively). And Nelphine certainly wouldn't mind the elves staying in contact, considering that he has seven Mighty Blow. Can this really be happening?

NFC Championship Game

(1) Green Baynana Grabbers vs (3) Atlatl Flechettes

What a story we have for this game: the coach who has won the 'Big One' the most (albeit not with Simyin...yet) vs the coach who has yet to win any sort of playoff game ever (probably not accurate but let's run with it).

After getting jilted last season in the Super Bowl, Grue and the Grabbers are looking to redeem themselves against Nelphine and the ATL, who are on their own redemption mission! Two may enter, but only one can emerge!

Prediction- Green Baynana 1 : 2 Atlatl

OH NO HE'S DOING IT!!!

AFC Playoffs

1. Houston Treants (9-4-1, 75 pts; South Winner)
2. New Zigguratland Chariots (7-5-2, 64; East Winner)
3. Cleaved Land Bedlam (6-6-2, 60 pts; North Winner)
4. Tijuana Charros (7-2-5, 55 pts; West Winner)
5. Miami Coronablights (7-3-4, 58 pts)
6. Bleaksburg Stranglers (6-5-3, 57 pts)
7. Brew More Gents (5-6-3, 53 pts)

The AFC side of the bracket has a clear favorite, as defending champion Houston surged to an early lead and then coasted down the stretch of the season. But there are several intriguing teams that all would love to take their shot at the Treants, and it will be fun to see which of them, if any, can dethrone the champ.

Speaking of the champs, Houston has been on cruise control for a few weeks now and will have the bye as well. One can (probably) assume that they'll be ready when the lights are on again, and with players like Stan Jones {MD} and Veronica Surehands [USC], Baz and the bois will continue towards their goal.

New Ziggy was counted out, belittled, and even laughed at when the season started. Surely they couldn't do much with not one, but two project Bull Centaurs on their roster, right? Well, joke's on us, as both players now have Block and carried the team all the way to the #2 seed.

Cleaved Land emerged from the north despite stiff competition from a team we'll cover later, and the practice twice a season against the elves can't hurt when the playoffs roll around. Plus, with some claw Warriors and agility Beastmen, the Bedlam should have the tools to deal with any type of opponent.

The Charros were counted out by some pundits as recently as three weeks ago, but they have stayed the course and won the West. They have a rookie Bloater and a block Bloater as a handicap, but the rest of the key players are excellent and won't be an easy out.

Miami entered the season as heavy favorites in the AFC East, and looked to be out in front early in the season while also attempting to shatter various touchdown records. But some stumbles along the way caught up with them, and they fell to second in the division. Could the spotlight being on others actually play into their advantage?

Bleaksburgh began their inaugural season as arguably one of the best first year rosters that we've ever seen, thanks in part to shrewd drafting and a fair amount of luck with skill rolls. A strong first half slowed down considerably in the second, before a two-game winning streak to end the season secured a wildcard spot for the team. With a relatively healthy squad in tow, can the Stranglers surprise a higher seeded team?

Easily the most surprising playoff participant, the Brew More Gents had little to no expectations coming into the season as a first year dwarf team that checked off as few of the meta dwarf boxes as possible. Legions of guard blockers? Nah. An impenetrable wall of stand firm? Nope. A super stud ball carrier, at least? Not really. But these Gents eschew normal Blood Bowl strategy and constantly go for big swing plays, as well as big boots, and so far, its been working.

AFC Wildcard

(2) New Zigguratland Chariots vs (7) Brew More Gents

We literally just saw this matchup last night (at the time of posting), where the Gents got the tie that they needed to secure the final playoff spot. Now that the stakes are much higher and a tie is not an option, how will these teams approach it?

Can the Gents continue to induce and boot their way to victory? Or will the previously mocked Super Bulls carry the day?

Prediction- New Zigguratland 2 : 1 Brew More

Although he will be fouling just as frequently, it is possible that Fitz won't be able to remove three Blockers in the first half again, and may struggle a bit more in this rematch.

(3) Cleaved Land Bedlam vs (6) Bleaksburg Stranglers

These division rivals meet again, as the Bedlam seek to get over their second-round hump while Bleaksburg wants to see how far their rookie team can go.

Will the Bedlam struggles against elves in the playoffs continue, or will their past experiences help them in this battle?

Prediction- Cleaved Land 1 : 2 Bleaksburg

When you've lost in the second round to High Elves (mrt) and Wood Elves (Baz) the last two times you made the playoffs, it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence!

(4) Tijuana Charros vs (5) Miami Coronablights

An ironic battle between the servants of the Chaos God of Pestilence and a team named after a global pandemic, this game is actually also a rematch from a season finale.

But this time, Miami has something to gain, though they don't appear to have the services of a wizard for this game!

Prediction- Tijuana 1 : 2 Miami

While the Charros have some Tents and Disturbing Presence to potentially mess with the Rats' gameplans, having two Leaping Ma10 Gutters will probably be the difference.

AFC Divisional Round

Only one upset so far, but that leaves us with three agility teams out of the four! Can New Ziggy possibly keep up?

(1) Houston Treants vs (6) Bleaksburg Stranglers

The Treants dominated the early portion of the season, and then throttled down after they secured the top seed (indeed, they didn't lose until the finale).

The Stranglers did force a tie against the Woodies back in Week 9, however; can they repeat that formula again and find a way to pull the upset?

Prediction- Houston 2 : 1 Bleaksburg

They cannot, however, as Baz has the team refreshed and refocused on their ultimate goal: repeating as Super Bowl champions to prove that the Season 25 Super Bowl never happened.

(2) New Zigguratland Chariots vs (4) Miami Coronablights

A fitting divisional round rematch between two division foes, New Ziggy won the East despite losing the head-to-head with Miami. Their first half matchup saw a crazy 6:4 game, while their rematch was a slightly more tame 4:4 tie.

Expect scoring aplenty again, as both teams have the freaks to constantly put the ball in the endzone.

Prediction- New Zigguratland 3 : 4 Miami

Trying to beat rats at their own game seems a tad fool-hearty, unfortunately.

AFC Championship Game

(1) Houston Treants vs (5) Miami Coronablights

A rematch from last season's epic 5:4 battle in this very same AFC Championship, the teams appear (at present) to be remarkably similar to that contest.

Will we get the same result as before? Or will the sneaky Skaven scheme their way to a victory?

Prediction- Houston 2 : 3 Miami

This time the teams are more patient (though if memory serves it was 1:0 at the half last time? I swear I'll upload my backlog of game commentaries to my youtube page eventually), but the game will be no less entertaining. However the rats will find a way to pull off the upset, thwarting the prospect of Houston going back-to-back!

NBFL Super Bowl 27

Atlatl Flechettes vs Miami Coronablights

This season's Super Bowl features a shocking lizard participant against a frequent pick of mine (surely one of these days I'll get it right)! Atatl fought through a gauntlet to get here, hyper-focused by their failure in the finale. Miami likewise took the long road and even had to knock off the undefeated defending champs to do so!

Both sides will theoretically still have their star stat players to make the critical plays; can the Lizard Legion remove enough rats to expose the key ones to blitzes? Or will the Skaven flummox the reptiles early and pressure them into a mistake?

Prediction- Atlatl 2 : 3 Miami

The game comes down to an OTS at the end of the first half providing the cushion that the rats need, as the lizards are unable to catch up despite a valiant effort late.

NBFL Super Bowl 27 Champions: Miami Coronablights

Furious with rage, Nelphine goes on a massive rant in the chat about how broken MA10 is and swears to never play Blood Bowl again as long as it is allowed!!

Fortunately for him, that means he is only taking a (likely) one season break from the NBFL until we switch to BB2020 rules.

Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs!

NBFL Season 28 Draft Preview

It is once again time to take a look at who each of the NBFL teams could draft, only to watch them go with somebody completely different. With several new franchises and a switch to BB2020 looming in the season after this, it is sure to be an interesting draft!

1. Minnesota TBD / Lorebass / Necromantic

After years of running joke teams and wasting the careers of top NCBB players, coach Lorebass is finally giving himself a decent chance by switching to Necro. While he still plays in a brutal division, merely using a competent roster should give him a fighting chance this season. Who might he make the centerpiece of his new team?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible pick: 28101 Kyle Harmon California Golden Lizards CAL Line/Skilled 91 +MA,+MA,+AG,Block,+AG

With many, many possible stat freaks to choose from, Lorebass likely wants to take the best fit for a Werewolf, which is only from the Skilled category. Thus while not yet a perfect player, Mr Harmon brings championship experience and amazing scoring potential to the table(top).

2. Seattle TBD / knine / Orcs

After joining midseason last year and getting the scraps for a team, coach knine is starting from scratch with an Orc team to try and compete in a physical NFC West division. He will likely be looking for a stud Blitzer to build the team around.

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 28503 Gibson Mz State Bull Dawgz MzSU Blitzer 114 +AG,+MA,Sure Hands,Tackle,Mighty Blow

While there are several good Bobs available, Mr Gibson would be a natural fit since he was an Orc Blitzer in college as well. His ability to play both offense and defense would instantly make him a centerpiece player.

3. Baltimore TBD / Arcayn / Humans

Edit: ok after he was allegedly returning to the NFC East to get his ass kicked again, Arcayn fan-dangled a deal to have the Wrecks return in Philly and instead left town with his middle fingers extended. Taking shelter in Baltimore, he will attempt to use mere mortal men to thwart all the vile races in the AFC North in exchange but hopefully get his team destroyed anyways.

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 28501 Jed Clampit Appalahcian State Hillbillies ASH Blitzer 47 +MA,+MA,Tackle

There are various +St options available, but having a Ma9+Tackle player could be a huge tool to have as well. He's also a mere four spps away from something like MB or Frenzy to become even more interesting. But given that he's Waagh's old player, he's going to die in the season opener.

4. No-Skincinnati Bungles / Dutchlife / Tomb Kings

The Bungles haven't had much success in their first two seasons thusfar, but can still be a pain to play against. Perhaps with another draft class, they can aim for a .500 record.

Draft Needs: Replace both a permed Blitzer and permed Mummy

Possible Pick: 28204 Martín "Big Foot" Gramática Poli Puerkos POLI Line/Blitzer 42 Mighty Blow,+ST,Guard

Lots of different options, but getting another St4 Blitzer who complements the one you drafted last season could be a good way to go.

5. Nawlins Lost Saints / BillBrasky / Chaos Renegade

Bill will draft something weird as he always does, enjoy some drinks, show up for his games, and then finish with like a 4-4-8 record. Or maybe he shows up and then enjoys some drinks; either way, the cycle continues.

Draft Needs: IDK man, I would fire almost every player on the roster

Possible Pick: 28319 Todd Santos Slam Diego State University SDSU Skilled 55 +ST/B/D/G

Bill could upgrade from a one-skill DE Runner, though, and a player like Mr Santos could be intriguing.

6. KC Cows / Garnak / Chaos

KC had a rough inaugural season, though that is usually the case with Chaos rosters. Can they add a few more pieces and get closer to .500 this time?

Draft Needs: Warrior, defensive beastmen

Possible Pick: 28701 Will Craig California Golden Lizards CAL Blitzer/Strength 77 Mighty Blow,Block,Tackle,Guard,Stand Firm

While you could go with a Beastman first and get a serviceable Warrior in the second round, Mr Craig is literally everything you want in a Strength player, and could be hard to pass up.

7. Chicago TBD / Cervus / Human

Another human team attempts to compete in the NBFL, as coach Cervus arrives in Chicago and has his work cut out for him. Can he find the formula to compete in the brutal NFC North?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 28601 Joey Mendis Gallaudet Deaf Bulls GAL Blitzer/Strength 240 +AG,+MA,Block,Dodge,+AG,Sure Hands

Lord only knows what Spps he would drop to (due to losing Block), but Mr Mendis was a game-breaking player in college and can certainly do the same in the pros if used effectively.

8. Las Vegas Evaders(?) / wintergreen13 / Pro Elves

Coach wintergreen arrives in Vegas and is determined to put on a show with some fancy Pro Elves. Will they be able to run circles around the bashy AFC West, or will they get beat to a pulp?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 28407 Crazy C'nor Higheagle Notre Dame ND Blitzer/Skilled 56 +ST, Dodge, Tackle, Frenzy

Las Vegas can look to the Skilled group for both their Catchers and Blitzers, and getting someone like Mr Higheagle as a Blitzer would be a great start.

9. Tampa Bay Swamp Monsters(?) / Xelron / Nurgle

A new regime in Tampa has the franchise returning to its (relatively recent) roots of Nurgle, before some dummy showed up and ruined a successful franchise by turning them into rats. Will coach Xelron embrace the defensive-themed Tentacle style that Frshmn once used to success, or will he be seduced by that lame Claw stuff?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 288.102 Jackie Simpson Ole Miss Reb-tiles MISS Blitz/Str 50 +ST, Block, Mighty Blow

This pick is really influenced by how the expan draft goes for Coach Xelron, but slapping Guard or Tentacles on this Bloater ASAP will be a good start.

10. Titannesse Kraken's / GotrekSlayer / Nurgle

The Krakens have been stuck in a stupidly tough division, with all three other franchises having been to the Super Bowl in the past five seasons (plus, you know, two of them winning at least one). But with a healthy roster in hand, can they find the one last piece to overtake their rivals?

Draft Needs: Literally just one Pestigor; everything else is covered

Possible Pick: 28302 Priscilla Berea Bleeding Angels BER Skilled 61 Block,+ST,Diving Tackle,Side Step

An interesting defensive piece to deal with those pesky elves, Mrs Priscilla would be a welcome addition to the squad.

11. Jakesonville Jortles / mrt1212 / High Elf

The last few seasons have taken their toll on the Jortles, as they have cycled through lots of players after their run of success was over. Can they find a new core to help them return to glory?

Draft needs: Healthy catchers, more catchers

Possible Pick: 28318 Danny Quan Oregon O Skilled 102 +MA,+AG, Wrestle, Dodge, Guard

Two stats, wrodge, AND a double? What's not to like?

12. Denver Brontos / jmonforton / Lizardmen

Denver fell back down to earth a bit after several seasons of progressing further into the playoffs each time; can they return to their winning ways?

Draft Needs: Cut some skink bloat, upgrade on two Saurii

Possible Pick: 28508 Darius Anderson TCU TCU Blitzer 78 Mighty Blow, Tackle, Frenzy, Juggernaut, [skill]

A support Saurus with Guard is certainly an option, but adding a Frenzy piece could be a useful tool to have as well.

13. New York Kroaks / ex-convict / Slann

The frogs are trending in the wrong direction, missing the playoffs a season after making the wildcard and damn near making it the first season. Will they add the pieces required to make it back to the playoffs?

Draft needs: Two Blitzers with some much needed stats

Possible Pick: 28315 Lavon "Swole" Coleman U-Dub UDUB Skilled 86 +MA, Block, Dodge, Side Step, Guard

Not as sexy as some other draftees, but a very functional support Blitzer who can contribute from day 1.

14. Buffalo Chill / Jeffro / Dark Elf

A respectable inaugural season saw the Chill almost finish with a .500 record, but also somehow finish fourth place in the division. With the core of the team still intact, can Jeffro add the tools he needs to catch his division rivals?

Draft Needs: One Witch, Guard Linos

Possible Pick: 28313 Jordan Kitna TCU TCU Skilled 45 +ST, Block, Tackle

Slap sidestep on this Witch at 51 and you've got yourself a hell of a player!

15. Indianapolis TBD / asteflix / Orcs

From winning the Super Bowl to switching races two seasons later; life comes at you fast in the NBFL. But maybe the extra armor will make us all wish that coach Aste was still using a glass cannon team!

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 28505 Bob "Southern" Breitenstein Poli Puerkos POLI Blitzer 60 Tackle,Mighty Blow,Stand Firm,Guard

Perhaps the least sexy pick so far, but literally the blueprint for the ideal Orc Blitzer.

16. Woodington Barkskins / Garcangel / Wood Elf

The Barkskins haven't quiet had the success they wanted so far, but they still (somehow) have their key players on the roster. Will another draft class bring the team to the next level?

Draft Needs: +Agility

Possible Pick: 28303 Jason Armstrong Fayetteville Bronchospasms FAY Skilled 129 +AG,+AG,+MA,+MA,+ST

Beggars can't be choosers, right? Coach Garc gets his old college stud and knows exactly what to do with him: get the ball into the endzone until he finally gets block!

17. San Foulcisco 69'ers / Nicodemus1 / Necromantic

The 69'ers haven't been quite able to get over the hump in the competitive NFC West; will the season-long absence of Meno and C'attle give them the opportunity that they need?

Draft Needs: One Werewolf

Possible Pick: 28314 Eduardo Flojo UNAM Pumas Malditas UNAM Skilled 117 Block, Dodge, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Juggernaut

Not a bad replacement, I would say.

18. Philadelphia Wrecks / robocoyote / Chaos

The Wrecks return and move locales to do so! Now in the NFC East, can legendary Broadway Joe Bryant [HAW] and co. recapture the magic from their Super Bowl season a few years ago?

Draft Needs: One Warrior, Guard Beastmen

Possible Pick: 28405 Walter J. Ong Saint Louis Billikens StL Blitzer/Skilled 35 Guard,Dodge,+MA

Coach Robo has always viewed the draft a bit differently than the "experts", and taking a project Beastman with both a double and a stat seems very on-brand.

19. Arizona Redbulls / Klazam / Chaos Dwarf

Inching closer and closer to the playoffs, is this the season that the Redbulls finally make the tournament? And if so, how far can they go?

Draft Needs: Replace one permed Blocker

Possible Pick: 288.101 Jordan Kent State Stashes KEN Blitz/Str 36 Mighty Blow, Guard, Stand Firm

Basically just clearing an injury, Mr Jordan is a plug-and-play Blocker who you hope to get doubles at either 51 or 76.

20. Brew More Gents / ryanfitz / Dwarf

The Gents shocked the pundits last season and made a playoff appearance with one of the stranger rosters that we've seen in some time. Can they continue to drink and boot their way to wins?

Draft Needs: One Runner, more Dirty Player

Possible Pick: 28312 El Rond UNAM Pumas Malditas UNAM Skilled 79 Block,+MA,Sure Hands,Side Step,Tackle

A couple different Runner options, but snagging the +Ma and dropping some Spp (due to duplicate Sure Hands) leaves some room for growth as well.

21. Dallas Crowbar / OTS / Dwarf

Making the playoffs in back to back seasons has set a standard in Dallas, but now it's time to make a deeper push once they get there. Will adding a Deathroller make the difference?

Draft Needs: Obviously a Death Roller

Possible Pick: Hopefully a Death Roller, or maybe 28203 Xeterog, Jr Karak University KAMU Line/Blitzer 46 Guard,Mighty Blow,Grab

Without a clear need (besides the, well, you know), coach OTS can potentially move up for a specific player or wait for the board to come to him.

22. Destroit Lynels / dashergeaux / Chaos Dwarf

The Lynels made a late season push to make the playoffs; can they get off to a better start and not sweat things out this time?

Draft Needs: Replace the permed Bull and the permed Blocker

Possible Pick: 28602 Everett Polzin Gallaudet Deaf Bulls GAL Blitzer/Strength 81 Block,Break Tackle,+ST,+MA,Tackle

Because of course we would let the overshadowed Bull at Gallaudet fall to the perfect spot for him.

23. Miami Coronablights / Relezite / Skaven

Perhaps a season spent on chasing the league touchdown records caught up to the team, as Miami was upset in a thrilling overtime playoff game (although unfortunately the video was lost, damn incompetent unpaid interns). Will it refocus the team on the ultimate goal of winning a championship?

Draft Needs: One Gutter

Possible Pick: 28317 28402 Joey Arias Fayetteville Bronchospasms FAY Blitzer/Skilled 59 Tackle,Side Step,Wrestle,Dauntless

With many different options on the board, coach Rel could draft a defensive sacker-Gutter, which the team currently lacks (but apparently hasn't really needed so far).

24. Cleaved Land Bedlam / captainmalkor / Chaos

The Bedlam are a perennial playoff contender at this point, but they keep getting knocked out by different elven teams in the playoffs. Will the draft provide some pieces to deal with the problem?

Draft Needs: Anti-elf Beastmen

Possible Pick: 28401 Javonte Jean-Baptiste Bro-hio State Buckeyes BRO Blitzer/Skilled 61 Strip Ball,Tackle,Jump Up,Wrestle

A bit out-of-the-box, but Jean-Baptiste certainly qualifies as an interesting tool against elves.

25. Tijuana Charros / Amon242 / Nurgle

The Charros won the West and a playoff game, but have two clear needs at Bloater. Will they be able to fill the gaps in the roster and have the same success?

Draft Needs: Two aforementioned Bloaters

Possible Pick: 288.104 LaMont Jordan Maryland Killer Turtles MD Blitz/Str 52 Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Guard

I may have overlooked this player for a few prior teams, but hopefully for Amon the rest of you do as well!

26. Bleaksburg Stranglers / Kzarik / Dark Elf

The Stranglers were a few mere different rolls away from making the AFC Championship in their inaugural season. Surely we won't hand them amazing players in the draft for a second straight season?

Draft Needs: One Blitzer, maybe replace one of two permed positionals

Possible Pick: 28504 Fabio Variola Ottawa Bee-Bees OTT Blitzer 52 Tackle,Mighty Blow,Guard,Fend

Moar Guard could certainly make coach Kzarik happy.

27. Carolina Pythoness / Waagh / Dark Elf

A successful second season landed Carolina in the playoffs, though they may have to make some tough decisions about a few permed players.

Draft Needs: Replace some combination of two of both Witches and one Blitzer

Possible Pick: 28509 Kassim Osgood Slam Diego State University SDSU Blitzer 49 Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle

Certainly can't complain about two doubles and being close to another skill.

28. Atlatl Flechettes / Nelphine / Lizardmen

Despite finally shredding the label of "Playoff Nelphine", it appears that the coach of the ATL is willing to throw away all of his good karma on something as petty as revenge.

Draft Needs: An Eye for an Eye

Guaranteed Pick: 28404 Natal "Starr Killer" Adams Miami BallHawks MIA Blitzer/Skilled 126 Wrestle,Tackle,Mighty Blow,Dodge,Dauntless

Mr Adams will literally be placed on the LoS until he dies in a vain effort to appease the ghost of Julian Starr, RIP.

29. New Ziggland Chariots / Wolvezzz / Chaos Dwarf

A shocking breakthrough campaign saw the Chariots make it all the way to the AFC Championship game. Can their two still-clearly awful Bull Centaurs eventually become playable when they (hopefully) get Tackle at 176?

Draft Needs: Three Blockers

Possible Pick: 28507 Sir William Marshall UNAM Pumas Malditas UNAM Blitzer 68 Mighty Blow,Guard,Dauntless,Dodge

Fairly close to another skill for Standfirm or (Nuffle forbid) Claw, Mr Marshall would be a welcome addition to the team.

30. Los Angeles Glams / Stimme / High Elf

I literally have no idea how this roster made the NFC Championship game, given how beat up it is and how unremarkable it is overall (ex: just two stats). Is it something in the LA water?

Draft Needs: Replace both permed Bliters, add Catchers

Possible Pick: 28301 Gabe L. Ball State Crimson Birds BAL Skilled 51 +ST,Block,Tackle,Pro

Yeah, I think we fucked up.

31. Green Baynana Grabbers / happygrue / Simyin

The Grabbers have been agonizingly close to winning either of the last two Super Bowls (or both). The roster is dinged up in various places, but the pieces are still in place for another run.

Draft Needs: One Gorilla, maybe replace a permed player

Possible Pick: 28403 Penei Pavihi Hawaii Warrielves H Blitzer/Skilled 59 Dodge,Tackle,Frenzy,Jump Up

32. Houston Treants / Bazakastine / Wood Elf

Just like I predicted (probably), Houston won back to back titles thanks in large part to their star players. Will the draft reward them with some hidden treasure that we overlooked?

Draft Needs: A larger trophy case

Possible Pick: 28317 Myles "Ahead" Gaskin II U-Dub UDUB Skilled 80 +MA, Block,Dodge, Side Step, Shadowing

Doesn't have Guard, but it does have Baz's third love: Shadowing.

Stay tuned for the Ex-con Ex-pan Draft Preview!

NBFL Ex-con Ex-pan Draft Preview

The compensation draft for all the new teams can make or break a franchise, as it sets the foundation for seasons to come (probably). Who will find the perfect fits to build their squad around?

Pool I

1. Charm City Treachery / Arcayn / Human

Armed with the first pick in Ex-pan and the third pick in Main, will Arcayn select some absolute studs, or will he look to trade down and accumulate some depth?

Possible Pick: 1.501.28 Smaltimore Bedaines SML 5 Blitzer Jadeveon Clowney Grab, Tackle, +AG, Mighty Blow, Guard 93

Blitzers are obviously the key to Human rosters, and getting a solid one early could be the play.

2. Las Vegas Evaders / wintergreen13 / Pro Elves

With the second pick in Ex-pan and the 8th in Main, coach wintergreen can look for the best available players for either his Blitzers and/or Catchers.

Possible Pick: 1.205.28 Phull-o-s'elfia Egos POS 3 Skilled Paris Campbell[BRO] BRO Block, +MA, +AG, Leap, Dodge 83

It really depends what direction Las Vegas wants to go, but this would be a pretty good Catcher out of the gate.

3. Chicago Bear Arms / Cervus / Humans

Coach Cervus has the third pick in Ex-pan and the 7th pick in Main to build his team around. Will Arcayn (also Humans) steal the best options? Or will Cervus still be able to find some studs?

Possible Pick: 1.202.28 Smaltimore Bedaines SML 2 Line/Blitz IM Fort ST, Mighty Blow, Guard 42

A St4 Blitzer with Guard who is pretty close to the MB+Tackle combo wouldn't be a bad way to start.

4. Seattle Shock Jox / knine / Orc

With both the fourth pick in Ex-pan but the second overall pick in Main, coach knine is in a pretty good position.

Possible Pick: 1.602.27 New York Genocides NYG 6 Blitz/Str Daniel Juarez [CAL] CAL Block, Guard, Tackle, Mighty Blow, Stand Firm 87

Sometimes you just can't so no to the five-skill Strength player.

5. Tampa Bay Swamp Monsters / Xelron / Nurgle

With the fifth pick in Ex-pan and the ninth pick in Main, coach Xelron will look to get his key Bloaters and/or Pestigors early.

Possible Pick: 1.701.28 Decay Bay Bloateneers DB 7 Strength Jerome McDougle [PHI] PHI Block, Guard, +ST, +ST, [skill] 108

While expensive, Mr McDougle can be an amazing Bloater once you slap Tentacles onto him. Good luck dealing with that!

6. Minnesota TBD / Lorebass / Necro

Having earned the first overall pick in Main, coach Lorebass can complement that selection with the sixth selection in Ex-pan.

Possible Pick: 1.403.28 Decay Bay Bloateneers DB 4 Skill/Blitz Jawuan Johnson [TCU] TCU Mighty Blow, Tackle, +AV, Block, [skill] 92

This can be the hitting Wolf to complement a carrying doggo from the Main draft, or maybe even one from Pool II.

7. Indianapolis TBD / Asteflix / Orcs

Coach Asteflix has the fifteenth pick in Main, though he balances out having the 7th (and last) pick of Ex-pan Pool I with the first selection in both Pools II and III later on.

Possible pick: 1.405.28 Witchington BloodBowl Team WTCH 5 Skill/Blitz BBBB Brain [KAR] KAR Mighty Blow, Juggernaut, Tackle, Dodge, Side Step 86

IDK, Aste tried to describe his usual Orc build and I wasn't paying attention. He'll probably take someone else.

Pool II

1. Ind (Aste): 2.402.28 Phull-o-s'elfia Egos POS 4 Skilled/Blitz Dwayne Wallace [CAL] CL Mighty Blow, Juggernaut, Frenzy, Side Step 55

2. Min (Lorebass): 2.401.28 Shytown Leapers SHY 4 Skilled/Blitz Zracht Croyler MA, Block, Dodge, Tackle 67

3. TB (Xelron): 2.101.28 Arizona Quetzalcoatl QUZ 1 Line/Skill Daynz Jentri AG, Block, Kick-Off Return, Sure Hands, Side Step 77

4. Sea (knine): 2.702.28 Noo Squigland Punchdrunx NSP 7 Strength L. Lundy [STL] STL Mighty Blow, Block, Tackle, Guard, Stand Firm 120

5. Chi (Cervus): 2.505.28 Noo Squigland Punchdrunx NSP 5 Blitzer W. Brown Mighty Blow, Guard, Tackle, Stand Firm, Frenzy 137

6. LV (wintergreen): 2.502.25 Dulles Howlboys DUL 5 Blitzer Brandon Marshall [NY Jehtz] Dodge, Dauntless, Tackle, Diving Tackle, Guard 88

7. Balt (Arcayn): 2.502.28 Chicago Beards CHI 5 Blitzer Kimmy Khessler Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Stand Firm, Frenzy 90

Pool III

1. Ind (Aste): Chicago Beards CHI 5 Blitzer Michelle Singletary Guard, Stand Firm 18

2. Min (Lorebass): Arizona Quetzalcoatl QUZ 6 Blitz/Str Larry Wilson Block, Guard 16

3. TB (Xelron): Shytown Leapers SHY 4 Skilled/Blitz Kerjon Arlen Wrestle, +MA 17

4. Sea (knine): Smaltimore Bedaines SML 2 Line/Blitz Pastis Ricard Guard, Stand Firm 20

5. Chi (Cervus): Carolin' Reapers CAR 5 Blitzer Diana Wargo Guard, Mighty Blow 22

6. LV (wintergreen): Smaltimore Bedaines SML 5 Blitzer Justice Trucker Guard, Dodge 22

7. Balt (Arcayn): 3.003.28 Chicago Beards CHI 0 Lineman Kendra Croak Block, Guard 20

NBFL Season 28 Draft Grades

With another draft completed, it's time to look at who made the right (or wrong) moves heading into the new season. Did any of the seven new franchises set themselves up for early success? Could any playoff contender add a piece they needed to potentially beat Houston and/or Green Baynana? Let's take a look, but this time in reverse alphabetical order:

Woodington Barkskins

Race: Wood Elf
Coach: Garcangel
Division: NFC East
Previous Record: 6-3-5, 51 pts

Draft Needs: +Agility

Draft Picks
Main 9 Danny Quan Oregon O Wood Elf Catcher 51 +MA,+AG, Wrestle, Guard

Draft Notes
Traded 16+48 for #9

Draft Grades
Ex-con: A
Baz: A+
Dash: A (Got what he needed, the team manages to be lean and talented.)

Titannesse Kraken's

Race: Nurgle
Coach: GotrekSlayer
Division: AFC South
Previous Record: 3-5-6, 36 pts

Draft Needs: One Pestigor

Draft Picks
Main 1 Everett Polzin Gallaudet Deaf Bulls GAL Pestigor 81 Block,Break Tackle,+ST,+MA,Tackle

Draft Notes
Traded 10+42 for #1

Dash: A (Got the best guy and certainly didn't need 2 picks for this monster team where every positional is a star or better.)

Tijuana Charros

Race: Nurgle
Coach: Amon242
Division: AFC West
Previous Record: 7-2-5, 55 pts

Draft Needs: Two Bloaters

Draft Picks

Main 57 Gabriel Cherry California Golden Lizards CAL Bloater 47 Block,Guard,Break Tackle

Draft Notes

Draft Grades
Ex-con: B
Baz: C+
Dash: B (Solid draft, needed 2 bloaters, got to bloaters. Boring bloters are better than rookie bloaters and picking late doesn't give you options.)

Tampa Bay Swamp Monsters

Race: Nurgle

Previous Record: N/A (new)

Draft Needs: All

Draft Picks

Draft Notes
-Traded down from #9 for 16+48, then traded #16 for 22+54
-Right Expan picks?

Draft Grades
Ex-con: B
Baz: C+
Dash: B- (When a team that needs everything spends two expansion picks on ball carriers I think mistakes were made. Trading down in the main to get 4 solid picks was a nice move, but the team will have a rookie season with a player other NBFL teams will worry about.)

Seattle Shock Jox

Race: Orcs
Coach: knine
Division: NFC West
Previous Record: 1-2-4, 13 pts (midseason replacement)

Draft Needs: All

Main 34 Shitz Head Grunts of ARMY ARMY Black Orc 43 Guard,Block,Mighty Blow

Draft Notes
knine had to drop the league after the draft

Draft Grades
Ex-con: Eh
Baz: N/A
Dash: B- (solid draft with 3 black orcs, but the thrower is always a debate on orcs. He does have a blitzer that will be a star and can catch anything the thrower slings down the field. It's a good foundation for a new team.)

San Foulcisco 69'ers

Race: Necromantic Horror
Coach: Nicodemus1
Division: NFC West
Previous Record: 6-1-7, 45 pts

Draft Needs: One Werewolf

Draft Picks

Main 49 Eli Cantucky Wildcats CAN Zombie 58 Guard,Mighty Blow,Dauntless,Grab

Draft Notes

Draft Grades
Ex-con: B-
Baz: B
Dash: C+ (He got the prototypical wolf, but he's not a special player but was what was left at 17. The zombie is a bloaty 2nd choice, but the team didn't need much. Could have benefited from trading up.)

Philadelphia Wrecks

Race: Chaos Chosen
Coach: robocoyote
Division: NFC East Sad
Previous Record: N/A (returnee)

Draft Needs: One Warrior, Guard Beastmen

Draft Picks
Main 18 Javonte Jean-Baptiste Bro-hio State Buckeyes BRO Beastman 61 Strip Ball,Tackle,Jump Up,Wrestle
Main 50 Leo "Lionhart" Erickson UTEP Party Minors UTEP Chaos Warrior 26 Block,Guard

Draft Notes
Passed up a five-skill Warrior in Will Craig *praying emoji*

Draft Grades
Ex-con: A++++++
Baz: B-
Dash: A (Just a really good safety for the 18th pick and a warrior that is better than a rookie.)

No-Skincinnati Bungles

Race: Tomb Kings
Coach: Dutchlife
Division: AFC North
Previous Record: 3-3-8, 30 pts

Draft Needs: Replace both a permed Blitzer and permed Mummy

Draft Picks

Draft Notes
Went Blitzer first over Mummy in shallow Strength class?

Draft Grades
Ex-con: B+
Baz: A+
Dash: A- (Another team that got what it needed. Drafting block for a Tomb Guarding is really all you need with a 2nd round pick.)

New Ziggland Chariots

Race: Chaos Dwarf
Coach: Wolvezzz
Division: AFC East
Previous Record: 7-5-2, 64 pts

Draft Needs: Three Blockers

Rain falls in the City of New York... A single subject walks from down the street. Clad in a green jacket the subject is checking his phone for directions. As the subject turns down a dark alley it is revealed to be Coach Robocoyote.

Blast it....... His house is supposed to be right here. Robo looks at the end of the alleyway. There is a door with the Wrecks logo. The doorway is overgrown and doesn't look like it has been opened or cleaned in many months. Robo knocks on the door and there is no answer.

Robo pulls a gold key from his pocket and uses it to unlock the door. He calls down a long dark entryway.... Hello!! are you in here. Again there is no answer.

Robo takes his first step into the house and as his eyes adjust to the darkness, Robo sees the hallway has photos and trophy's all along it.

As he walks down the hallway he takes time to look at them. Among the awards sit a Rolling Stone Award, Two League MVP's, Two League Dirtbag's, a league darling and at the end of the hallway stands a NBFL championship trophy.

As Robo gets to the end of the hallway he sees a dimly lit room with a fireplace. A single chair sits facing the fireplace with a tray of empty beer cans.

A voice comes from the chair. Coach, I told you, my playing days are behind me. My ankle is busted up and I have accomplished everything there is to do.

A single horned subject stands and it is revealed to be the one and only Broadway Joe.

Come on Broadway the team is moving to Philadelphia and we need your leadership and skills. Even with you busted ankle you are still a better player than 90% the league.

Coach, I past my prime, the league doesn't want to see and old goat out there anymore. The league is all about elves, frogs and apes now. Haven't you seen the recent seasons.

Broadway we just got some new guys in town they are already preparing for the season and you have to see the new guys before you turn me down. You are one of the most iconic players in league history. The fans love you, they hate you, and they love to hate you. Don't you think they deserve to see you in all your glory while you can still play.

Coach I told you I am done. I don't care who you got, no random scrub you picked up outta the NCBB is going to convince me to come outta retirement.

Oh we didnt get him outta the draft. Tiny!!! come meet the legend.

Thud... Thud... Thud.... Loud steps can be heard in the darkness.... Into the room walks a massive horned beast. At least 8 ft tall. The beast has to bend under the doorway and turn sideways to squeeze into the room.

Broadway..... meet Clawdner Smashew your new Minotaur.

Broadway looks shocked..... Where did you get this massive beast?

We picked him up in free agency. Those elves down in Jacksonville didn't have a place for him.

Broadway laughs...... Fine coach..... I guess I can put the gear on one more time.

Robo tosses Broadway a new green Wrecks logo... We will see you at practice.

PART ONE THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK
PITCH BLACK ORC

The sun shine was warm on his face. Vindication. Finally all his hard work was paying off. His transformation was like no other in the history of the NBFL. He could say that he was undeniably the best player now and one day he would be the best in history. It had been a long hard road and the sunshine brought back memories of uglier times.

He had been an orc blizer by another name. Frank Reddic had been an orc blitzer for Texas. The pitch there was much different than the one he played on now. Unkempt weeds, stones and a few patches of grass was hardly worthy of the greatness he would become but for Frank it was good enough. As an orc blitzer he thought only of violence. He dreamed of opening skulls on that hardpan pitch.

As the new guy he was on ball duty. And the more touchdowns he scored the more he wanted to hit something. But the more he scored the better he got at scoring and the less the coach was willing to put him where he wanted to be. In harm's way. The seasons went by and he longed to be a killer but it was never meant to be. Still Frank managed to rack up more casualties than touchdowns over his college career.

On graduation day he stood proud. Ready to go to the NBFL and become a true killer. What ended up happening was beyond his imagination.

PART TWO: DARK FURRY

On draft day he couldn't have been more excited. He would join a team as the centerpiece of the team and start to cement his legacy. His heart sank as he heard the commissioner call out his name as the selection for Cleavland. Elves… why did it have to be elves. His chances of ever being a killer died that day.

He smiled on the podium like any player chosen first overall should, but inside he was dying. Soon he was sent to the transformation changer to become the thing he set out to destroy when he began his blood bowl career, a wardancer. He stepped inside the cold machine and he could hear the cogs grind and bobbins whir. Suddenly the chamber filled with a white gas and he fell out of consciousness. He awoke and looked at his new long lithe body. The skin was a beautiful tan with the old green hue he had known. Maybe being a wood elf wouldn't be such a bad thing after all. Furthermore he had been given a new name. Henceforth he would be Vin Riddick

The games passed and Riddick got to do what he always had dreamed of. Leaping into cages and knocking the ball out of the opponents hands. He played for the elves for two seasons and his production dropped, he didn't see blood flow, he didn't score touchdowns. He became a stronger player though. Through all his efforts he couldn't seem to make the team win. The playoffs stayed out of reach and soon his coach packed it in and moved on to coach chaos elves and poor Riddick was left behind.

PART THREE: RIDDICK

For two seasons he sat on the shelf plotting his return. He knew his second draft would be a repeat of his first; he knew he would be the first overall choice again. When the bungles passed on him he was shocked. When the Red bulls passed on him he became irate. When the coach of Carolina finally drafted him he scoffed. This guy doesn't know blood bowl. As the draft progressed he began to get excited. This guy might not be able to coach but he did have an eye for talent. Perhaps someone more experienced was guiding him through the draft.

The first season went about like you would expect for a rookie NBFL coach. Nothing remarkable. Riddick was forced to hand the ball off and fill a support role in order to develop the younger players. He wasn't happy about it but knew it was necessary. Soon they had a runner named DAYLIGHT to help them on their quest for glory in the NBFL playoffs.

Season two went excellent. They had won a wild card spot, they had won a playoff game, and they gave the eventual NFC Champion apes all they wanted in a tough game. The dream had come true. Playoffs. Riddick knew he would take his last breaths on the Pythoness in a quest for greatness. To become the GOAT. Redemption was on his mind and in his heart. He may never win a Superbowl but he would be remembered either way.

Nelphine's random rantings! and our pre-season review

We shall rate each team, ordered as posted above based on racial TV.

Each team shall be rated on 2 categories: How the team compares to all other teams of that race for the start of season 28, and how the team compares with the rest of their division. How will we weight these things? Who knows!

Chaos
These are the most mobile bashers; they want to maximize that mobility, but also maximize their mutations to justify their high initial cost and weak starting skills!
Cleaved Land Bedlam 2920 TV, AFC North, A-
Four +AG, one +MA, but not on the same player. Four MB/Claw and a frenzy beastman (ideal); one +ST and seven guard plus two dirty players as a solid smash team. A
Their main divisional rival will be Bleaksburg (Dark Elves); they have a Str 5 tentacles, 2 tackle mb/claw, a third tackle, and a sidestepping diving tackle. Strong, but possibly not strong enough. Against humans and khemri, they should have plenty of smashing power. B+
Philadelphia Wrecks 2820 TV, NFC East, B-
Two +AG and two +MA (Joe doesn't count), not on the same players. Two MB/claw (low for chaos). FIVE +ST but only four guard and no dirty players may leave them lacking. B
Facing Dallas, the lack of guard and claw may find themselves isolated; with wood elves and slann as their other division opposition, they have only two tackle, and may get out-positioned. C+
KC Cows 2290 TV, AFC West, C+
No minotaur can certainly help new teams! However, only one +MA, and no claw, really doesn't capitalize on the team strength. They do have three +ST, 2 guards, and 2 dirty players to aim at outmuscling their opposition. C+
Their nurgle and lizard opposition may outmuscle them; against the lizards and pro elves, they have two wrackle, and may not be able to put the titchy things down. C

Simyin
Green Baynana Grabbers 2920 TV, NFC North, A-
With no other Simyin to compare to (and no other coach crazy enough to try it!), all we can say is that happygrue has always wanted highly specialized players. They still have a blodgeguardstep diving tackle gorilla, and multiple break tackle shenanigans. Davante still exists, and Aaron Jones has literally played 79 games without missing a beat! The team has everything it seems to want. We assume grue knows better than we could possibly guess. A
In their division, they face chaos dwarves, humans and necromantic. With seven guard, three +ST, five tackle and a dirty player, they should be able to handle whatever comes their way. Only their inherent monkiness stands in their way. B+

High Elf
The highest combination of mobility and armor, high elves need to maximize these strengths.
Jakesonville Jortles 2860 TV, AFC South, B
An MA 10 catcher. Two more +MA. Six guards. MB/tackle. Frenzy. All they really need? Lots of +AG. B+.
However, they are against Houston - that missing +AG could hurt. They are against extremely lean orcs, and a very nasty nurgle team - they won't be able to stand up to them. B-
Los Angeles Glams 2530 TV, NFC West, B-
Two +MA, six guards, MB/tackle. Still no +AG! B-.
They have a very bashy division with chaos dwarves, ultra lean orcs, and necromantic dirty players. The lack of agi will hurt, but with numerous wrestlers with unique skills to back them up, they should still do well. B-

Nurgle
Bog them down and kill them. Hold them close and hurt them. Regenerate any damage your opponent does. That is the nurgle way.
Titannesse Kraken's 2860 TV, AFC South, B+
One MB/claw (not enough). One SF Tents, two other tents. Three dirty players, two prehensile tails, and a diving tackle. The utility is very high, but raw killing isn't so great. B
And in their division, wood elves, high elves, and orcs. Five guard and two +ST should keep up with the lean orcs, and five tackle plus multiple +MA +AG (or lots of mutations) as well as +MA +ST should give them options against elves. A-
Tijuana Charros 2550 TV, AFC West, B+
Two MB/Claw (still not enough), two ST 5 SF/Tents, and five dirty players. This team leans heavily into being nurgle. A-
Five tackle, five guard, and a +MA should help, but the pro elves, lizardmen, and chaos in their division may outposition them if they play it right. B
Swampa Bay Bogganeers 2380 TV, NFC South, C+
One MB/claw, one SF/tents, one dirty player, and two prehensile tail. The woes of being a brand new team that wants mutations! C+
Their division rivals are very killy renegades, dark elves, and lizards. Only three guard and two tackle may hurt, but the +AG ball handler helps. C+

Lizardmen
Strong, fast, the ultimate smash and dash.
Atlatl Flechettes 2840 TV, NFC South, A-
6 SF/Guards and four +AG and one +MA (on only 3 skinks) is amazing, but 8 MB (that's super excessive), and only one break tackle can hurt. A-
Against nurgle and renegades, the two +ST and 7 guard should hold well; four tackle and two diving tackle will try to keep up with the dark elves. A-
Denver Brontos 2740 TV, AFC West, B
Two break tackle, four +MA skinks (but two on a chameleon!) and two +AG skinks is very good. No stand firm and a saurus without block hurts. B-
Chaos, nurgle, and pro elves. Only one tackle, but three diving tackle against the elves; and five +ST and five guards will try to keep up with the mutants. B

Dwarf
Lots of innate skills, but very slow, dwarves need immense amounts of guard, some fast players, and the ability to shut down their opponent even more.
Dallas Crowbar 2750 TV, NFC East, B+
Five +MA and four +AG on only five dwarves sounds amazing, but too many of them are blockers. Six stand firm, two sidestep and ten guards is exactly what we want though. However, they only have 14 players and only one has a single skill - they are going to give up a lot of inducements and then have a lot of tv on the bench. B+
Going against a very strong chaos team, wood elves and slann, the dwarves are going to need to make use of their four diving tackle and eight mighty blow to try to control the pitch, but only one +ST if they get seperated. B+
Brew More Gents 2220 TV, AFC East, B
The deathroller probably isn't the best idea yet; and only three +MA and one +AG (at least only one is on a blocker!) may leave them very slow. Two sidestep and three stand firm, as well as six guard is promising. B
Dark elves, skaven and chaos dwarves masquerading as elves are their opposition. One dirty player, one diving tackle, and seven mighty blow are their main tools for the division. B

Chaos Dwarf
Faster than dwarves, they don't have quite as many built in skills, and instead of 6 positionals, they only get 2 bulls. The bulls need to be the stars of the team, and dominating the bash is their goal.
Arizona Redbulls 2740, NFC West, B-
The bulls have +ST, two +AG, and sure hands. These are nasty! The minotaur is.. very bloated. The chorfs have guard and one sidestep and one frenzy (good), but no stand firm, only one claw, and a few wasted skills (bad). B+
For their division, they have high elves, orcs and necromantic. Multiple dirty players and a blodge +S sure hands hobgoblin (why? they have a bull!) will help, but they are giving up entirely too many inducements. C
New Ziggland Chariots 2650, AFC East, B-
These bulls make Arizona look tame; four +AG, two +MA, and a +ST!! Fantastic! But again, a very bloaty minotaur, one claw, and no stand firm or sidestep on the chorfs. They do have six guards! B+
They face off against skaven, dark elves and dwarves. No diving tackle, two dirty players, and another super hobgoblin carrier ensures.. they will give out a ton of inducements without necessarily helping the team out. C
Destroit Lynels 2370, NFC North, A-
No minotaur! The bulls 'only' have one +ST and one +AG though. The team has seven guard, one claw, and four stand firm. A
Their division sees humans, necomantic, and .. simyin. No one knows what you need against simyin (you shouldn't need anything!), but two dirty players and two +S hobgobbos, surprisingly, should be very helpful in this division. B+

Dark Elf
The most consistent of the elves; high av, high starting skills, high movement, but without a dedicated thrower or catcher. Getting some movement 8 or 9, some high agi, and loads of guard is imperative.
Bleaksburg Stranglers 2730 TV, AFC North, A-
One MA9, two MA8, three +AG, MB/tackle and six guard. This team is awesome. A-
Chaos, Khemri, and Humans. Enough guard to handle the punching game, seven blodge/wrodge against teams without inherent tackle, but no strip ball, leap or agi 6 to really make every tiny mistake count. A-
Buffalo Chill 2620 TV, AFC East, A-
Two MA8, four +AG, agi 6/leap, MB/tackle, frenzy/juggernaut, but only 3 guard. This team is also awesome. A-
Dwarves, chaos elves, and skaven. A rough mix. Lack of guard could hurt, and all of their opponents have strong backup carriers, so forcing mistakes will be hard to do to make the agi 6 really get to work. B+
Carolina Pythoness 2550 TV, NFC South, A
Two MA8, four +AG, frenzy/juggernaut, MB/tackle, 4 guard. A-
Lizardmen, nurgle, and renegades. This is an absolutely brutal division, and the dark elves will need to survive more than dish it out. Seven blodge/wrodge will help, and there is plenty to threaten teams that don't inherently have sure hands. A

Chaos Pact
The big guys are a liability for this team as anything more than a roadblock; the team needs everyone to specialize, and killing things is plan A.
Nawlins Lost Saints 2670 TV, NFC South, B
Only two big guys, but both of them have non standard skills that won't see much use. The MA9 AG5 skaven is amazing. Only 3 MB/claw (and for some reason, the orc without MB seems to be the thing that blitzes the most??) Frenzy, juggernaut, and six guard. B-
Facing horrendously bashy lizards, nurgle, and dark elves, four tackle will help, as will the three blodge. No diving tackle or any other utility skills may hurt. B+

Slann
I have to say, I have no idea how to build Slann. I'd say look at Greenbay, but I wasn't here for that era either. So. Do all the things!
New York Kroaks 2670 TV, NFC East, A-
Frenzy sidestep. Six guard. MB/tackle (with pro even!). +ST sure hands. Multiple agi 4 wrestle/strip. Even a dirty player!!! A
Facing dwarves, wood elves, and fat chaos, controlling the tempo will be important. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to build for that, so we'll just arbitrarily the tv is high, and so inducements probably won't be good. B+

Wood Elf
This is the fastest, highest agility team in the game. Hide, and then score from anywhere without giving your opponent a chance to score back.
Houston Treants 2660 TV, AFC North, B+
Stat wardancers. MB/tackle. No good thrower though. MA9/Ag 5, but no MA10. B+
With high elves they may need to one turn, and the nurgle can make scoring at will a pain. The orcs will have a lot of inducements to force early scores. Jump up tree and five guard will help a lot. B+
Woodington Barkskins 2600 TV, NFC East A-
Stat wardancers. MB/tackle. No strip ball though. MA9/AG 5, MA10 sidestep, and an amazing thrower. A
Facing slann, chaos, and dwarves, these wood elves will score at will, if they can survive. Very heavy on dodge, no tree, and only four guard will be trouble at times. B+

Skaven
Skaven have the fastest inherent player, and a lot of cheap crap. This league eats up Skaven and spits them out. Inducements, and.. well, really any skaven team can score fast, so a way to score defensively.
Miami Coronablights 2570 TV, AFC East, B+
Multiple MA10 sprinters, AG7 gutter, ST4 AG5 blitzer.. this team will score whenever they have the ball. No wrestle strip or wrackle, no high agi guard, and a rat ogre may make getting the ball hard on the defense. B+
Facing dark elves, chaos elves, and dwarves, this team will be very hard pressed to spring the ball free, and they will face a lot of tackle to force dice on one turns; nor do they have MB/claw to force attrition while their opponents grind them down. B+

Necromantic
I am apparently terrible with this team. So. There is that. The weaker stronger version of smash and dash.
San Foulcisco 69'ers 2560 TV, NFC West, B+
Four dirty player, two MB/claw, five guard, but a distinct lack of +AG and +MA. B+
They'll be up against High Elves, Chaos and Chaos Dwarves. +AV may be wasted, but they have all the positional skills to control the pace of the game against any of their rivals. B+
Manglesota Lyc'ns 2050 TV, NFC North, B
Three dirty player, no MB/claw, only three guard, and why three frenzy? Again, no +AG, but at least they have an MA9. B-
Facing giant simyin, chaos dwarves, and humans, they are likely to get enough inducements to make up for the low number of players. The massive stand firm S6 without negatrait can also be huge in this division. B

Khemri
Strong. Slow. Pacifist. Slow. Hard mode on literal steroids.
No-Skincinnati Bungles 2500 TV, AFC North, C+
Three +ST, only two MB?? but lots of wrestle and tackle to put people down for the four dirty players. B-
Their division has chaos, humans, and dark elves. They'll need to put things down, but they will probably get outpositioned constantly. C

Pro Elf
Low armor, low speed (for an elf), but they're cheap! Stars and scrubs boys, stars and scrubs!
Las Vegas Evaders 2330 TV, AFC West, B-
MA9/AG5 with leap, MB/tackle, but no good throwers, no wrackle or strip. +AG lino won't do much either. B-
They'll be pitted against Nurgle, Lizardmen and Chaos. They'll have a hard time outmaneuvering them while avoiding catastrophic damage. The lino's could have gone mass dodge in this division. B-

Humans
These guys have no strengths. They're so bad. Everyone loses a letter grade just cuz.
She-Call-Girls Bared 2330 TV, NFC North, C
Two amazing throwers, six guard, a dirty player, but no outstanding catchers. B-
These guys will be pit against.. simyin, necromantic and chaos dwarves. They will be outmuscled at every moment, but they should have the mobility edge. B
Charm City Treachery 2230 TV, AFC North, C
An amazing thrower, an amazing catcher, a dirty player, and six guard. A-
On the other hand these guys will see chaos, khemri, and dark elves. They are also going to be outmuscled constantly, and they often won't have the mobility edge. B-

Orc
Urgh. Me ork. Me strong. Me not die. Me eat rockets in da face for hours and still not die. Urgh. Everyone loses an arbitrary amount just cuz.
Seattle Waaagh!Hawks 2040 TV, NFC West, B-
Fourteen players, five guard, a block troll, and an amazing blitzer.. but they have no dirty players and a +ST goblin. B-
They will vie against high elves, chaos dwarves, and necromantic. They'll be outmuscled, and outmaneuvered, but not at the same time. B
Indiapolorks Dorks 1990 TV, AFC South, B
Fourteen players, six guard, a block troll, their blitzer is great, and they have two dirty players. B+
They're up against high elves, wood elves, and nurgle. They'll have to chase down their victims, except when their victims hug them. B+

And that wraps it up. This was crazy. The NBFL has crazy teams, and there are some incredible combinations this season. Let's watch legends be born, and die, on the pitch as they should be!

Based on this, we should see:
Cleaved Land Bedlam, Green Baynana Grabbers, Atlatl Flechettes, Destroit Lynels, Bleaksburg Stranglers, Buffalo Chill, Carolina Pythoness, New York Kroaks, Woodington Barkskins in the playoffs, leaving 7 other spots for others to luck into and fight over. Of course, rosters can change over a season, and some of these teams are in the same division, so that may knock a few out as well..

Whiskey Polls (marginally unofficial and very scientific)

NFC
EAST: Philly (didn't wanna pick em but the rest are wildcards at best, even my Dallas brethren.
NORTH: GB (lorebass may someday make Manglesota not suck but this is not the year, Cervus needs Season 2 to build humies?)

*passed out at this point, woke up to find I had spelt EAST wrong and played a game of fumbbl last night

SOUTH: Carolina will give the division away to Atlatl in the last 2 games of the season (Swampa Bay may be a force to recon with in the future, but this is a building season)
WEST: Arizona barely steals the west this season

WILDCARDS: LA Glams, Destroit, Dallas (while the Kroaks barely miss out on tiebreakers)

AFC
EAST: Miami (last season was a fluke folks)
NORTH: Cleaved Land (dominates the north this season)
SOUTH: The Jortles look posed to steal this division until the 2nd half of the season when it all falls apart and Houston continues to dominate
WEST: Las Vegas dominates the 1st half until some compromising scrolls are discovered, the chaos created allows Denver to steal the division by tiebreaker over Tijuana

WILDCARDS: New Ziggy, Bleaksburg, Tijuana (Buffalo could easily sneak in if any of those teams stumble, but Brew More will likely have fouled all their players to death)

Picking divisional placements too! Brought to you by Michter's Rye
NFC
EAST:Philly > NewYork >Dallas > Woodington (Likely the best division overall to watch this year)
NORTH: GB > Destroit > Mangle > She-Call-Go-Go (the division will be won with 3 games left to play)
SOUTH: Atlatl > Carolina > Nawlins > Swampa (the end of season collapse and brasky games should be viewed)
WEST: Arizona > LA > San Fran > Seattle (Seattle and SF make this division closer than it was last year)

AFC
EAST: Miami > New Ziggy > Buffalo > DrinkMore (Miami focuses on the wins and gets it done)
NORTH: Cleaved > Bleaksburg > No-skin > Charm (No-skin improves from last in their division?)
SOUTH: Houston, Indy > Jakesonville > Titansee (threats emerge, each team takes some blood from the champs)
WEST: Denver > Tijuana > Vegas > Khornsas (a wild finish to a division race, watch some games here!)

NBFL Season 28 Preview

Yes sir! We are about to begin another adventure in the NBFL, with a new season starting in just a few days. Will we see Houston v Green Baynana III in the Super Bowl? Can someone from either conference knock off these stalwarts? How will the new franchises do amidst all the chaos? Let's predict how the entire damn thing will go!

AFC Conference

Yes, we begin, for probably the first time ever, with the AFC! Perhaps paying homage to doing the draft grades in reverse-alphabetical order, perhaps putting respect on the conference that has won four straight Super Bowls. Either way, all eyes will be on whether anyone can prevent Baz from being king of the conference yet again!

AFC East

The East should be one of the most entertaining divisions in the entire league, with budding rivalries between Miami and New Ziggland over scoreboard dominance, as well as between ryanfitz and all of your players that are on the ground. No less than three of these squads made the playoffs last season; can we expect more of the same?

Opponents (1st/2nd): N-West/A-South

1. Miami Coronablights - Relezite (7-3-4 prior)
2. New Zigguratland Chariots - Wolvezzz (7-5-2)
3. Brew More Gents - ryanfitz (5-6-3)
4. Buffalo Chill - Jeffro (5-3-6)

Miami will be on a mission to rectify last season's disappointment, where they stumbled down the stretch and lost the division lead, then got bounced in the first round in a fantastic overtime game. New Ziggland and Brew More could both feasibly finish second, but the chaos dwarf variants simply have better scoring potential and thereby a better chance to gain points via victories. Finally Buffalo has a very solid team but has tough matchups against all of their division rivals, and will have to prove that they can beat them on the field.

AFC North

The North has essentially been run by Cleaved Land since they joined four seasons ago, but two recently added franchises have drafted extremely well and will look to challenge their supremacy. Also, there's some Tomb Kings.

Opponents (1st/2nd): N-South/A-West

1. Bleaksburg Stranglers - Kzarik (6-5-3 prior)
2. Cleaved Land Bedlam - captainmalkor (6-6-2)
3. Charm City Treachery - Arcayn (new)
4. No-Skincinnati Bungles - Dutchlife (3-3-8.)

Perhaps the changing of the guard already occurred in last season's wildcard game, where Bleaksburg topped their rivals. But malkor and the goats are looking thick and problematic, and very few teams are able to beat them each season. Coaches Arcayn and Dutch will likely have to beat up the opposition to give themselves a chance, but who's to say they can't do it?

AFC South

A division with three coaches who know how to at least get to the Super Bowl, the South is never easy to get through. Will Aste's switch to Orcs make it even tougher than before?

Opponents (1st/2nd): N-North/A-East

1. Houston Treants - Bazakastine (9-4-1 prior)
2. Indiapolorks Dorks - Asteflix (new)
3. Jakesonville Jortles - mrt1212 (4-4-6)
4. Titannesse Kraken's - GotrekSlayer (3-5-6)

Houston will finish first and Titannesse will sadly finish last, until proven otherwise. It was very, very tough to decide who would finish second, however, as both teams are very representative of their coach's individual philosophies.

AFC West

The West saw a new winner last season, as the Charros won both the group and a playoff game. Can they take the next step and compete for the conference? Will veteran jmon stop him? Or will the first and/or second year franchises have something to say about it?

Opponents (1st/2nd): N-East/A-North

1. Tijuana Charros - Amon242 (7-2-5 prior)
2. Las Vegas Evaders - wintergreen13 (new)
3. Denver Brontos - jmonforton (4-2-8.)
4. Khornsas City Khows - Garnak (4-1-9)

The Charros are favorites to repeat, though, as their roster is well rounded and has tools to deal with just about anything. Las Vegas looks like it could win quite a few games if they can stay healthy, especially with some inducements. The Brontos will attempt to rebound back to their usual standards, while the Khows can likely aim for a .500 record.

NFC Conference

While they have struggled to win the big game recently, the NFC consistently has several powerhouse franchises at the top, backed by a solid group in the next tier. Will one of them finally break the AFC's collective grip on the trophy?

NFC East

The East went from being solid, if unspectacular last season (three teams ranging from 43-54 pts) to perhaps the most competitive division in the league this year. With the return and relocation of the infamous Wrecks to Philly, the group is deep, varied, and ready to kick each other's asses.

Opponents (1st/2nd): A-West/N-South

1. Dallas Crowbar - OTS (6-4-4 prior)
2. Woodington Barkskins - Garcangel (6-3-5)
3. Philadelphia Wrecks - robocoyote (returnee)
4. New York Kroaks - ex-convict (4-5-5)

The other pundits who are underestimating and flat-out disrespecting Dallas clearly haven't been watching the last two seasons; no one enjoys playing against these well-built dwarfs, and it is very tough to stop their tag-team at the Runner position. Meanwhile, coach Garc finally has an Ag5 piece on his roster to make critical plays with, while the Wrecks will try to bully foes in their new home. And the frogs will probably kroak.

NFC North

Home to not one, but two NFC powers (and not coincidentally, the losers of the last three Super Bowls), the North will likely send two teams to the playoffs again, while the two newcomers build up their young squads.

Opponents (1st/2nd): A-South/N-West

1. Green Baynana Grabbers - happygrue (8-4-2 prior)
2. Destroit Lynels - dashergeaux (6-5-3)
3. Manglesota Lyc'ns - Lorebass (new)
4. She-Call-Girls Bared - Cervus (new)

Challenging coaches Grue and Dash with veteran rosters is tough enough, but rookie rosters for Lorebass and Cervus probably won't have the tools yet.

NFC South

Not a one-team division anymore, the Flechettes were pushed by a rising Carolina team last season. Both teams even won their respective Wildcard games, and hope for an even deeper run this time.

Opponents (1st/2nd): A-North/N-East

1. Atlatl Flechettes - Nelphine (7-4-3 prior)
2. Carolina Pythoness - Waagh (7-3-4)
3. Nawlins Lost Saints - BillBrasky (2-3-9)
4. Swampa Bay Bogganeers - Xelron (new)

The Atl will likely bully their division (and everyone else) with their imposing saurii group again, while the Pythoness will try to prove that they weren't a one-year-wonder. Nawlins and Swampa Bay could aim for .500 records with some breaks as well.

NFC West

With perennial pain-in-the-ass (literally) C'attle now gone, surely there is no one to challenge the mighty Glams? Ah, but maybe you haven't been paying attention to a rising power in the desert...

Opponents (1st/2nd): A-East/N-North

1. Los Angeles Glams - Stimme (7-5-2 prior)
2. Arizona Redbulls - Klazam (7-2-5)
3. San Foulcisco 69'ers - Nicodemus1 (6-1-7)
4. Seattle Waaagh!Hawks - HouseBlackfyre (new)

Arizona will directly challenge LA for the division, as they have been creeping closer and closer to the playoffs over the past few seasons. Coach Nico finally has a pretty solid and mostly injury-free roster again, and could make some noise. And I already hate this guy before he's even played a game!

AFC Playoff Picture

1. Bleaksburg Stranglers - North Winner
2. Houston Treants - South Winner
3. Miami Coronablights - East Winner
4. Tijuana Charros - West Winner
5. Cleaved Land Bedlam - North
6. New Ziggland Chariots - East
7. Indiapolorks Dorks - South

First out: Las Vegas Evaders - West

The schedule sets up nicely for Bleaksburg, who uses their talented roster to surge into the top spot in the conference. Meanwhile, the wildcard bids are evenly spread out among the four divisions, with the conference as a whole being deeper than it has been in some time.

AFC Championship Game: (1) Bleaksburg Stranglers vs (3) Miami Coronablights

So deep, in fact, that mighty Houston doesn't make it to the third round (and thus switches races heading into our first BB2020 ruleset season)! Bleaksburg rides a strong season into the conference title game, while Miami is refocused after last season's disappointing finish.

NFC Playoff Picture

1. Green Baynana Grabbers - North Winner
2. Atlatl Flechettes - South Winner
3. Dallas Crowbar - East Winner
4. Los Angeles Glams - West Winner
5. Woodington Barkskins - East
6. Destroit Lynels - North
7. Arizona Redbulls - West

First Out: Philadelphia Wrecks - East

The race for the top seed looks very similar to last season, with GB and the ATL jockeying for position all year. Very few surprises, if any, in this group, with no division finding a way to send three teams either.

NFC Championship Game: (5) Woodington Barkskins vs (6) Destroit Lynels

Whoa! Now here is a shocker, with two wildcard teams fighting their way to the title game! Woodington abuses their lone Ag5 player (in a good way) to pull some upsets, while Destroit just boots everything that their Claw players leave on the ground.

NBFL Super Bowl 28: Bleaksburg Stranglers vs Destroit Lynels

Now this is unexpected! These two gents have denied us the climatic trilogy movie between Grue and Baz (for better or for worse), but it should be no less entertaining! Will the Dark Elves have enough Guard left by this point to engage when necessary? Can the Chaos Dwarfs replicate their Divisional round removal rate from when they played Garc a few seasons ago? Who will our new champion be?

Super Bowl Champion: Destroit Lynels

Congrats to Dash for finishing what he started three seasons ago!

With the trophy finally in one hand after a series of climatic battles, he snaps his finger in the other hand and forces Grue to change races!

The beleaguered monkies can finally rest, as they slowly disappear and fade away. In their place, a group of dastardly Black Orcs show up, possibly in a division with Khemri, no-Bull Centaur min-maxing Chaos Dwarfs, and 2020 rules Khorne?!

What the hell is going on?

Best of luck to everyone this season!

As ever, the Nelphine rantings continue on. We have applied much math and algorithms to the following prediction, and then on the final step, used bb block dice to determine how glorious the teams would actually be.

With this tried and true perfect unfallible method, we see:

AFC
Bleaksburg wins North (bye, and noticeably ahead of every other team in the league)
Buffalo wins East
Houston wins South
Tijuana wins West
Cleaved Land had higher points than every other AFC team except Bleaksburg and Buffalo
Miami was solidly in the playoff points
Indiapolorks barely scrapes in on tiebreakers

Wildcard round
Houston beats Miami
Cleaved Land beats Tijuana
Indiapolorks have a huge upset, and beat Buffalo

Bleaksburg destroys Indiapolorks 3-0
Houston beats Cleaved Land

AFC Championship
Houston beats Bleaksburg despite kzarik's basically picture perfect season up to here.

NFC
Woodington wins East (bye, and is miles ahead of the other NFC teams)
Destroit wins North on tiebreakers
Carolina is actually tied for 7th place wildcard, but due to the magic of tiebreakers, still gets in.
Los Angeles is ALSO tied with 7th place wildcard
Green Baynana was never in doubt about their playoff spot
Atlatl one of the five teams tied for 7th place wildcard
Seattle beats out Philadelphia to claim the 7th place wildcard

Wildcard round
Destroit beats Seattle
Green Baynana beats Los Angeles
Atlatl beats Carolina

Woodington beats Atlatl very late in overtime
Green Baynana gets revenge for their loss in the season and beats Destroit

NFC Championship
Woodington continues their streak and beats Green Baynana

Superbowl
Wood elf mirror
Woodington vs Houston
And...
Houston wins!
