YESSS! with zero pundits for us (except Garc who hasn't posted his pick in the forum yet), Las Vegas claims the "no one believes in us" crown. Prediction: LV wins the super bowl and somehow the WIL premiership even though we don't play in it.

We shall rate each team, ordered as posted above based on racial TV.

Each team shall be rated on 2 categories: How the team compares to all other teams of that race for the start of season 28, and how the team compares with the rest of their division. How will we weight these things? Who knows!

Based on this, we should see:
Cleaved Land Bedlam, Green Baynana Grabbers, Atlatl Flechettes, Destroit Lynels, Bleaksburg Stranglers, Buffalo Chill, Carolina Pythoness, New York Kroaks, Woodington Barkskins in the playoffs, leaving 5 other spots for others to luck into and fight over. Of course, rosters can change over a season, and some of these teams are in the same division, so that may knock a few out as well..

Looking back on my original prediction we see that I got 6 of the base 9 correct. That means 3 teams with an A- rating or better did not make it to the playoffs. Bleaksburg had some bad scheduling issues, New York got annihilated, and Buffalo turned out to be in one of the most competitive divisions.
For the other 8 spots, from my original scorings, we see:
3 B+'s (the other 3 B+'s did not make it)
2 B's
3 B-'s

Does anyone have any comments? Are there trends with those teams who didn't make it, vs those who did, that I could mathematically add to my predictions? CAN I BECOME PERFECT? Hellll nah. Nuffle says no.

Ex-con's NBFL Season 28-ish Playoff Preview

Another playoff means another prediction! Literally no one that I have ever picked to win has done so in all the years that I've done this, so good luck to everyone else I guess. Here we go!

Note: two NFC Wildcard games took place during the writing of this article and naturally both teams that I picked to lose failed to do so. Classic!

NFC Playoffs

1. Green Baynana Grabbers
2. Woodington Barkskins
3. Atlatl Flechettes
4. Los Angeles Glams
5. Destroit Lynels
6. Dallas Crowbar
7. Carolina Pythoness

A lot of usual suspects in this side of the field, as all of these coaches have various levels of NBFL playoff experience. The top-seeded Grabbers look as vulnerable on paper as they have in some time, meaning that everyone should have a pretty good chance if they play their cards right!

Wildcard Round

(2) Woodington Barkskins vs (7) Carolina Pythoness

Vin Riddick [CLE] and the Pythoni-bois have their hands full with the best Wardancer duo in the league (yes, I typed it). Now blessed with two +Ag catchers to back them up, will the Barkskins take care of business against a team they just beat in a final week scrimmage?

Prediction: Woodington 2 - 1 Carolina

One does not best Garc in a battle of elf experience.

-----

(3) Atlatl Flechettes vs (6) Dallas Crowbar

The CAS-happy (both to and fro) lizards from Atlatl take on Dallas again in the playoffs, but they have changed a lot since that previous matchup! Having won both NBFL and NCBB playoff games now, the aura of 'Playoff Nelphine' is dead and gone!

Prediction: Atlatl 1 - 2 Dallas (OT)

But like a zombie passing its regen roll, it comes back to life! With his beloved 'All Menz LoS' strategy seemingly unplayable against dwarfs, Nelphine plays confused and dazed, unable to stop the bearded ones!

-----

(4) Los Angeles Glams vs (5) Destroit Lynels

A rematch of last season's wildcard game, the Glams and Lynels do battle once more! Will Stimme get the most out of his tools, or will Dash break them one by one until nothing is left?!

Prediction: Los Angeles 2 - 1 Destroit

When your best carrying option is a hobgoblin, you probably aren't beating Stimme.

Divisional Round

With the opening round over, lets predict the future.

(1) Green Baynana Grabbers vs (6) Dallas Crowbar

Another playoff rematch from the past, can Dallas take the lessons they learned and pull off the upset this time? Two rookie Gorillas sounds like a prime opportunity for the dwarfs...

Prediction: Green Baynana 1 - 2 Dallas (OT)

And OTS takes advantage of the relative weakness of the monkies! A closely contested game goes into overtime, as neither team can gain a true edge, but ultimately, Davante Adams can't be in two places at once to deal with the dual dwarf runners!

-----

(2) Woodington Barkskins vs (4) Los Angeles Glams

This matchup is no longer possible due to the first round result yesterday (at the time of writing), so I'm going to cheat and not give Stimme a chance to win this hypothetical match.

Prediction: Woodington 2 - 1 Los Angeles

Garc squeaks by in this imaginary match up!

NFC Championship Game

(2) Woodington Barkskins vs (6) Dallas Crowbar

"Dashergeaux — 03/22/2022
Through 5 rounds the NFC west has yet to win a game against the AFC East 😬 Buffalo is 3-0-2 and in 4th place the division! They would be first in the NFC East, NFC South, and NFC West."

Twas not long ago that people were talking shit about the NFC East and yet who is laughing now? Not one, but two teams from this maligned division make it to the conference title game! Only one can advance however, so which will it be?

Prediction: Woodington 2 - 1 Dallas (OT)

Diving Tackle matters less against Ag5, however, and now that he has two, Garc is certain to pull off some BS that helps him advance to the Super Bowl!

AFC Playoffs

1. Cleaved Land Bedlam
2. Miami Coronablights
3. Las Vegas Evaders
4. Indiapolorks Dorks
5. New Ziggland Chariots
6. Denver Brontos
7. Tijuana Charros

On the other side of the bracket, we have a host of teams that actually believe that they have a shot due to two-time-defending-champ Houston somehow missing the playoffs with a whopping 59 pts! Who will emerge and take up the mantle for the conference?

Wildcard Round

(2) Miami Coronablights vs (7) Tijuana Charros

A rematch of last season's spectacular game in this same round, the rats and plague-bois do battle once again. Can the stars for Miami show out and get the W? Or will Tijuana lock them down and grind out the game?

Prediction: Miami 1 - 2 Tijuana

Though the teams are not yet readied (at time of writing), Miami will likely not get a wizard, and they seem less likely to have much of a bench. Thus the game swings in favor of the Nurgle, who have to avoid giving up the one back-breaking play.

-----

(3) Las Vegas Evaders vs (6) Denver Brontos

An AFC West battle is on in this wildcard game, as the beaten up Evaders take on the dinged up Brontos. Will the venerable lizards show the rookie elves what NBFL playoff blood bowl is really like? Or can Vegas continue to defy the odds in their inaugural season thanks to the hundreds of inducements that they will receive?

Prediction: Las Vegas 2 - 3 Denver

The skink bloat almost catches up to Denver this day, but eventually they wear down Vegas and win a shoot-out.

-----

(4) Indiapolorks Dorks vs (5) New Ziggland Chariots

The opening match that I am personally looking forward to the most (ironically, since I dislike bash), the first year Dorks have a tough task in front of them, as they attempt to thwart the dynamic Bull duo of the Chariots. The game might come down to what hurts more: the lack of mobile Tackle to deal with the super-Bulls, or the lack of depth (currently) for New Ziggy.

Prediction: Indiapolorks 2 - 1 New Ziggland (OT)

Forced to choose between depth and facing inducements, Wolvezzz elects to give Aste tools such as bribes, apos, and maybe even a wizard for this battle. This proves decisive in a long, grindy affair, and while the Orcs will be unable to stop the Bulls from scoring, it matters not if they are only able to touch the ball once.

Divisional Round

Upsets galore in the first round! Will the trend continue?

(1) Cleaved Land Bedlam vs (7) Tijuana Charros

The Bedlam are having their best season yet and must be absolutely thrilled to see all of the agility removed from the AFC field before they even have to take the field. But instead they are looking at a stinky, cheaper version of themselves! Will this bash battle be what they wanted, or will they yearn for softer targets in hindsight?

Prediction: Cleaved Land 1 - 2 Tijuana (OT)

The inducements make a difference when both teams are trying to simply remove the opposition, however, and the Nurgle foul their way through the Chaos Undivided hordes to victory!

-----

(4) Indiapolorks Dorks vs (6) Denver Brontos

Lean, mean Orcs against tough, bloaty Lizards should make for a hell of a Blood Bowl battle. The last time the Brontos faced an Orc team in the playoffs, however, Aste was out for blood and got his wish. Will the tables turn on him now that he's moved from the booth onto the sideline?

Prediction: Indiapolorks 2 - 1 Denver

Fortune smiles upon him this day, ultimately, as the lizards could not possibly break orcish armor at the rate they did previously...right?

AFC Championship Game

(4) Indiapolorks Dorks vs (7) Tijuana Charros

A truly shocking matchup after a multitude of upsets finds the Dorks and Charros meeting for the AFC crown! With both teams wanting to bash, boot, and lean on the opposition, will the lack of strategy beyond 'blitz with MB player' set Blood Bowl coaching back a decade?

Prediction: Indiapolorks 1 - 0 Tijuana

No longer being an Av7 glass cannon apparently makes the difference!

NBFL Super Bowl XXVIII

Woodington Barkskins vs Indiapolorks Dorks

Facing off against elves after back-to-back-to-back games against CDs, Lizards, and Nurgle must be a blessing for Aste!...perhaps? Will Garc push the wooden agenda for a third straight season, or did Aste get enough practice against Baz to be ready for this matchup?

Prediction: Woodington 1 - 2 Indiapolorks

"Tackle is overrated" - Baz, probably

Why do you need more than one tackle if your opponent is just going to give you one block a turn anyways? This game could be straight out of the Bash playbook, where the elves only have the ball for a few turns and never see it again whilst their team is slowly removed. Likely without a wizard and unlikely to be able to one-turn due to the Stand Firm wall, Garc's options dwindle down each passing turn until the sun sets on BB2016 in the NBFL.

And with the sweeping changes coming this fall, Ex-con reverts to his old ways and seeks blood for the Blood God.

...maybe?

Best of luck to everyone (still) in the playoffs!

There's a new group page for the conversion to 2020 rules.

https://fumbbl.com/p/group?op=view&group=15668

Rules are still up for debate, but this is out there to let everyone know the general plan. The rules tab and the draft and team management tabs have most of the meat.

The TV cap and agent fees are the things most likely to be debated. If there's something clearly missing that needs to be covered, mistakes, things you just hate send me a pm.[/url]

NBFL Season 29 Draft Preview

A new era is beginning in the NBFL, and the first part of the league that is affected is the draft! The trade rumors discord channel has been on fire recently as teams try to wheel and deal in what could be the most unpredictable draft in our history! Fortunately one man has taken it upon himself to preview the action in the only way he knows how: most likely incorrectly!

1. Detroit TBD / HouseBlackfyre / Vampire

After a difficult season as a late replacement in Seattle, coach House left for a different city, with some NBFL experience under his belt. His new task will prove no easier, however, as a mysterious shadow has clouded the city upon his arrival, allowing the Vampire aristocracy free reign!

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29603 Stenburg Cantucky Wildcats CW Blitz/Str 0 Dodge,Mighty Blow,Pro, [Chosen Primary][Chosen Primary]

I know absolutely nothing about playing Vampires, and since there isn't a clear #1 player on the board, it might be best if Detroit could trade down a few spots. Regardless of when they ultimately pick, Pro is perhaps valuable enough on this particular team to warrant an early selection.

2. Indianapolis TBD / Xelron / Orcs

The pestilence never really set hold in Swampa Bay last season like coach Xelron wanted, so he is now taking up shop in Indy after a war band of Orcs migrated to the town (edit: or maybe he is just getting Aste's sloppy seconds). Will the increased armor allow him to get his footing in this competitive division early?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29708 Dean Colvard Charlotte's Forty Normers UNCC Blitzer 0 Guard,Mighty Blow,+AG,Tackle

Xelron's decision will likely be heavily influenced by what he takes in the Comp/Expan draft (ie: take a Big Un in one and a Blitzer in the other, possibly), but Mr Colvard could be a dual-purpose mobile hitter and carrier option for the team.

3. Baltimore TBD / KidCrestHill / Khorne

Coming in as a midseason replacement is never easy, and KidCrest took his lickings as Norse. But the Chaos Gods are ever-watchful, and Khorne smiled upon the brutality that they were inflicting (22 CAS caused in 7 games), granting them his blessing! Blood for the Blood God!!

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29308 Benjas Darrama UNAM Pumas Malditas UNAM Skilled 0 Mighty Blow,Block,Tackle,+AG,Dodge

As the first true Khorne experiment in the NBFL (Jeffro's and my attempts don't count), KidCrest can go with a Khorngor, Bloodseeker, or even the fearsome Bloodspawn for this pick. But a mobile hitter like Mr Darrama could be an enticing selection to start the team with.

4. Titannesse Kraken's / GotrekSlayer / Nurgle

The Kraken's continue their attempts to ascend in the difficult AFC South. Fortunately, the roster returns fairly complete and relatively healthy, so they can look to improve on any weakspots that they want to shore up.

Draft Needs: Replace one -MA Bloater

Possible Pick: 29706 Guy Dennis Florida [UF] Strength 10 Block, Guard, Mighty Blow, [Chosen Primary]

Why not take a former Bloater in college if you're looking for a new one in the pros? Mr Dennis would slot in seamlessly to the role and be ready to do his job starting game one.

5. Trans Fat Crisco Porky Miners / Cervus / Human

Coach Cervus takes his humans with him to a new location, finding himself on the West coast. He still has some pieces which to form the team around, but also has some clear needs to address as well.

Draft Needs: Three Blitzers

Possible Pick: 29602 Paris Ford Pitt [PITT] Strength/Blitz 13 Mighty Blow, Side Step, Guard, Juggernaut

There are several four-skill Blitzer options available, so it will likely come down to what skills Cervus prioritizes. Adding another GuardStep player, who also has Juggs (something he doesn't have, but could combo with the Grab player on the team), and could potentially add Frenzy down the road might be an intriguing option.

6. Kansas City TBD / HyperboLeMur / Humans

Stuck in a cycle of non-playoff years, management in KC decided to look for a successful college coach with a track record of developing players and making bowl games; enter: Hyperbolemur! What path will he choose in a division where all three other franchises made the playoffs last season?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29311 Richard Bong Air Force Warpstone Falcons AF Skilled 0 Block,+MA,+AG

While the core of Human teams is certainly the Blitzer corp, as a new team, KC can likely go with 'Best Player Available', and Mr Bong would be a true scoring threat early on as a Catcher.

7. Miami TBD / Miyuso / Norse

With their former coach taking an extended vacation, the rats of the town scurried away when a fleet of longboats were seen off of the coast. Swiftly taking over, the Norscan legion took little time looting, drinking, and finding a coach to lead their new Blood Bowl team!

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29604 Matthew Cindric California Golden Lizards CAL Blitz/str 0 Mighty Blow,Tackle,Block,Guard

Ignoring the fact that I almost suggested someone to be a Norse Runner (a position they no longer have after their update), Mr Cindric would be a solid Ulfensomething to build the franchise around.

8. Manglesota Lyc'ns / Lorebass / Necromantic

The Manglestota franchise is drafting at their lowest pick in years, thanks to finally switching to a competent race last offseason. Can they add more players and get out of the top 10 picks/bottom 10 teams after next season?

Draft Needs: One Golem, One Wraith, Two Ghouls, and maybe replace the permed Wraith and/or Wolf. Damn.

Possible Pick: 29708 Riel Rezeever Manitoba Bizons [MB] Strength 17 Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle, [Chosen Primary]

Coach Lorebass has lots of options, especially when he got lucky and won early comp picks in Pools 2 and 3. But getting a good Flesh Golem should be a priority, regardless of which part of the draft it comes from.

9. No-Skincinnati Bungles / Dutchlife / Tomb Kings

Stranded in the desert with no signs of life or hope, coach Dutchlife continues his search for the 'Playoff Oasis' that is rumored to exist.

Draft Needs: Two Blitzers, maybe replace the permed Mummy and/or upgrade another Mummy

Possible Pick: 299.203 Halldora "Karen" Storolfrdottir Drexel Draugrs [DD] Big Guy 0 Block, Dodge, Mighty Blow, Guard, Stand Firm

I know that Dutch needs two Blitzers but it could be very difficult to pass up the infamous Karen as a Mummy!

10. New Orleans TBD / BillBrasky / Pro Elves

One of the surprise moves of the offseason, Brasky gave up his long-time Pact team and moved to Pro Elves of all things! Apparently he has extensive elf experience elsewhere, though I won't believe it until I see it!

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29310 "Fearless" Jim Franks NotreShameFightin'Elvish NSFE Skilled 0 +MA,Dodge,Block,Side Step

Coach Brasky would have a lot of options at his disposal here, but getting a scoring threat like Mr Franks could be something that intrigues him.

11. Philadelphia Wrecks / robocoyote / Chaos

It wasn't quite the glorious return that the Wrecks had in mind when they rejoined the league last offseason, and they will have a drastically different roster after a huge makeover of the team. How will coach Robo decide to build the Wrecks moving forward?

Draft Needs: Two Warriors, more quality Beastmen

Possible Pick: 29703 Art Sen Normandale [NCC] Strength 0 Block, Dodge, Guard, Stand Firm

While there are more intriguing players on the board (and historically in the draft Robo has focused on finding unique players that he couldn't easily build), a clear need meets a solid selection as Mr Sen can be a support-roadblock from day one.

12. Atlatl 'n' Fukiya / Arcayn / Lizardmen

The lizard tradition continues in the ATL, as coach Arcayn takes over and looks to keep the formula the same. How quickly can he build up the team to competitive levels?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29008 Johnson Mississippi State Bull Dawg [MzSU] Lineman 1 Block, Sure Hands, +AG

A new lizard team will likely look to get one +AG skink somewhere in the draft and focus on the saurii otherwise; whether the ATL does so in the main draft or expan draft remains to be seen.

13. Buffalo Chill / Jeffro / Dark Elves

A solid team stuck in arguably the deepest division the past two seasons, coach Jeffro still aims to give the intense Buffalo fan base a winner like he did way back in season two.

Draft Needs: One Blitzer, One Witch Elf, support Linos

Possible Pick: 29307 Reggie "The Edgy" Williams U-Dub Elfskies UDUB Skilled 0 +ST,Wrestle,Juggernaut,+MA,Frenzy

While an expensive player in the new ruleset (not that they would have been cheap previously), the synergy of Williams as a Witch Elf could appeal to Jeffro, and, in particular, would be very useful against certain Bull Centaurs in the division...

14. New York Kroaks / ex-convict / Slann

The frogs got beat up last season, but remained competent enough to avoid getting a high draft pick (again). Will they look to trade down (again) to try and fill all of their needs?

Draft Needs: Three Blitzers, maybe a Krox, maybe a Catcher or two

Possible Pick: 29301 Bora Bradidottir Drexel Draugrs [DD] Skilled 0 Dodge, Side Step, Leap, +AG, +AG

Lacking a true game-winner during the frog era, New York (N) is ecstatic to land Bradidottir as a Blitzer (despite not having Block) who can potentially go get the ball once it inevitably gets sacked.

15. Brew More Gents / ryanfitz / Dwarfs

The Gents have fouled their way into our hearts and look to continue to do so moving forward. God help us if Gerry Phoulbin #81 (DE) somehow gets Sneaky Git, though...

Draft Needs: One Blitzer, replace permed Blitzer and Runner

Possible Pick: 293.201 Kriss Proctor IV Navy Midskeletonmen NAVY Skilled/Thrower 0 +MA,Block,Tackle,+MA

[Scene]: Proctor IV, the newly minted Dwarf Runner, scores a touchdown from nine squares out.
[Ryanfitz]: "That boy is fast!"

16. Jakesonville TBD / mrt1212 / Skaven

Jacksonville is High Elves no longer, distancing themselves from their almost-glorious past selves and embracing the schemes of the rat-men, yes-yes. Surely the mad scientist known as mrt won't fit in well with the technicians of Clan Skyre, right?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29401 Terry Cummings DePaul Blue Demons [DPU] Blitzer/Skilled 0 Dodge, Sprint, Side Step, Sure Feet, +AG

Mrt seems the kind of coach who wouldn't mind the lack of block on this draftee, because it probably won't take very long for him to score enough to get it as a Gutter Runner!

17. Arizona Redbulls / Klazam / Chaos Dwarfs

The Redbulls have been close to the playoffs for the last two seasons (finishing in 8th, recently), and are looking to round out the team in order to take that next step.

Draft Needs: Upgrade one rookie Blocker, replace a permed Blocker

Possible Pick: 299.101 Pierce Banbury Navy [NAVY] Strength/Big 5 Mighty Blow, Guard, Grab

An unexciting, reasonable pick that will excite the coach more than the fans.

18. Houston Treants / Bazakastine / Wood Elves

The Treants were unable to go for the three-peat due to a historically strong AFC conference keeping them out of the playoffs, but the team is still well positioned to make another run at a title.

Draft Needs: Replace some injured players and/or look for the best available draftee that drops

Possible Pick: 29709 Midnight Dancer U Pike Pain Bearers UPIKE Blitzer 0 +AG,Strip Ball,Leap

In a shocking development, Houston replaces the legendary Stan Jones {MD} with a lesser, albeit cheaper version of him in Mr Dancer! Citing health issues with Stan and the newly implemented salary cap forcing them to make a tough call, management is booed off the stage as fans are outraged!

19. Bleaksburg Stranglers / Kzarik / Dark Elves

The Stranglers have been playoff contenders in the AFC since they arrived, and are looking for a few upgrades to make up ground with a particular division rival...

Draft Needs: Replace permed players if the opportunity is there, or add depth

Possible Pick: 28305 Rash Roy Karak University KAMU Skilled 4 Block,Fend,Tackle,Dauntless

There are several lino options, but getting a Witch Elf who can help deal with the abundant St4 and St5 players in the division (Chaos, Khemri, AND Khorne) could be useful.

20. Carolina TBD / Waagh / Nurgle

No longer satisfied with the style of play of Dark Elves, coach Waagh kicked all of his players out and embraced the hug of Papa Nurgle, for better or for worse.

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 298.101 Khill Kickya Manitoba Bizons [MB] Ln/Sk/Bl 0 Block, Sure Hands, [Chosen Primary], [Chosen Primary], +MA

A relatively fast ball-carrying Pestigor is likely a must, and having two open skills gives Carolina options to craft this player; Two Heads for sure, but what else?

21. Szeattle Scimitars / Nelphine / Dark Elves

After years of trying to get over the hump with lizards, Nelphine decided that it was time to switch things up when the league announced its rule changes. Now running those dastardly Dark Elves, how will his style adapt to the new environment?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29703 Lauret Magveil UC San Dogo Krytens [UCSD] Blitzer 0 Tackle, Mighty Blow, Dodge, Guard, Side Step

Szeattle would be ecstatic for a Blitzer like Magveil to fall this far, as it is everything you could want in a key player.

22. Green Bay TBD / happygrue / High Elves

Grue switching off of Apes was no shocker, but choosing Elves was a bit of a surprise! How will he fair with this new challenge in front of him?

Draft Needs: All (new franchise)

Possible Pick: 29501 Cherry Waz RMC She-Devils [RMC] Blitzer 16 Tackle, Mighty Blow, Side Step, Guard

Although Waz has yet to learn how to Dodge efficiently, they would be a very solid Blitzer right out of the gate for Green Bay.

23. Dallas Crowbar / OTS / Dwarfs

Making the playoffs has become the expectation in Dallas, yet the fans yearn for something more. What do the Dwarfs need to take the next step?

Draft Needs: One Slayer, moar Diving Tackle

Possible Pick: 278.102 Barthélémy "Alien" Darrigo Poli Puerkos POLI Line/Blitz 0 Guard,Mighty Blow

There doesn't appear to be a top of options (not that Dallas has real dire needs) so grabbing a useful Blocker could be the play.

24. Los Angeles Glams / Stimme / High Elves

Stimme turns out a playoff campaign every season, retooling on the fly despite whatever happens to the team.

Draft Needs: One Blitzer, one Catcher, possibly a Thrower

Possible Pick: 28510 David Wells Slam Diego State University SDSU Blitzer 14 Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle

A hitter-style Blitzer is something that Stimme seems to regularly have, and getting another one here would be a good play.

25. Tijuana Charros / Amon242 / Nurgle

The Charros are starting to churn out playoff appearances as often as they do plagues (which is quite often); will they find a way to wrap their tentacles around the entire conference in the near future?

Draft Needs: One Bloater, maybe upgrade one Pestigor

Possible Pick: 29701 Slater Zellers California [CAL] Strength 11 Block, Guard, Stand Firm

Nothing wrong with a three-skill roadblock Bloater who already has some Spps towards the next skill.

26. ChicagOrkz Borkz / asteflix / Orcs

Much Bork.

Draft Needs: Hmmm...none?

Possible Pick: 299.206 Norm the Miner Charlotte's Forty Normers UNCC Big Guy 0 Guard,Stand Firm,Block

Literally have no idea what Aste will pick since he has all his players and wants to keep TV low. Probably a Block/Guard lino, but let's pencil in a Troll that keeps Block but adds Guard and Standfirm.

27. Las Vegas Evaders / wintergreen13 / Pro Elves

Decimated by injury but sustained by coaching and inducements, the Evaders made the playoffs last season and look to rebuild the team to likely repeat the process all over again.

Draft Needs: One Blitzer, one Catcher

Possible Pick: 29201 Cornelio Chit Poli Puerkos [POLI] Line/Blitz 0 Guard, Mighty Blow, Dodge

Looks like a solid pickup to me.

28. Cleaved Land Bedlam / captainmalkor / Chaos

Given that their TV is already 2860 before the draft, there is a 95% chance that malkor is already working the phones trying to trade up, since he would have to cut players to add any draftee(s) anyways.

Draft Needs: One Blocker, a higher TV cap

Possible Pick: 29702 Orin Patu California [CAL] Strength 3 Block, Guard, Stand Firm

Cleaved Land has a history of taking Cal players in the past at the Warrior spot.

29. Woodington Barkskins / Garcangel / Wood Elves

The Barkskins continue to get closer and closer to their ultimate goal: can they stay healthy long enough to get there?

Draft Needs: One Catcher

Possible Pick: 29314 One for the Ages Fresno State Raiders FSR Skilled 0 Block,Guard,Side Step

Well this just makes too much sense to allow it to happen.

30. New Ziggland Chariots / Wolvezzz / Chaos Dwarfs

Proving the haters wrong two seasons in a row, New Ziggy has picked up a few injuries along the way but looks to be in a good position with the roster overall.

Draft Needs: Dare I say...look for a possible replacement for the dinged up Travis Lewis?

Possible Pick: 29707 Assiniboine Assisinator Manitoba Bizons [MB] Strength 16 Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle, +AG

While not in the same mold as Travis, "Ass-Ass" would serve a complementary roll to the high scoring Andre Tippit.

31. Denver Brontos / jmonforton / Lizardmen

Denver broke through to the Super Bowl after several seasons of deep playoff runs previously, though they ultimately came up short in the big game. What do they need to do in the draft to get back?

Draft Needs: Replace permed Saurii if possible

Possible Pick: 29702 Atamu Kufer UC San Dogo Krytens [UCSD] Blitzer 0 Tackle, Dodge, Side Step, +MA

Jmon usually goes with a player that has upside since his team can generally carry one project player, but could that strategy change without the league having D3 MVP?

32. Tampa Neigh Bucks n Beards / dashergeaux / Chaos Dwarfs

I love the new logo but hate the new name. Also, they're the champs.

Draft Needs: One Bull

Possible Pick: 29707 Maverick Ohtran BYU [BYU] Blitzer 5 Guard, Dodge

Not a lot here, so look for the traditional Dash trade up, but if forced to stay, at least Maverick is partway to Block.

NBFL Season 29 Preview

A new era is about to begin! The NBFL has adopted the BB2020 ruleset and is ready to embark on a high TV journey that the world may have literally not seen yet. What stratagems will coaches devise? Which tactics will prove to be difference makers? Will we even remember that Dash won the Super Bowl because the team changed locals/names? Let's break it all down:

NFC

Home to several Super Bowl champs (Dash, Grue, Stimme) and several knocking on the door (Nelph, Garc), the NFC hierarchy is a tough one to break into. Will a new meta allow other coaches to shine as well?

NFC East

1. Woodington Barkskins / Garcangel / Wood Elves : currently with a high TV and double random Lino skills, but clearly the favorite due to the excellent positionals
2. New York Kroaks / ex-convict / Slann : mid TV but will attempt to force foes to deal with a sack, a blitz, and a foul option each turn
3. Dallas Crowbar / OTS / Dwarfs : low TV but only three RR feels like a dangerous gambit
4. Philadelphia Wrecks / robocoyote / Chaos : a solid core of eight players, but not a lot of support behind them

NFC North

1. ChicagOrkz Borkz / Asteflix / Orcs : low TV, lean, and complete roster will compete immediately in its new home
2. Mean Fae Quackers / happygrue / High Elves : low TV with lots of growth potential, but may not be as dominant early if the wizards aren't perfect
3. Detroit Daywalkers / HouseBlackfyre / Vampires : low TV, lots of variance from game to game and even turn to turn will be fun to watch
4. Manglesota Lyc'ns / Lorebass / Necro : low TV with potential for a .500 season but traditionally stuck in the cellar

NFC South

1. Tampa Neigh Buck'n Beards / dashergeaux / Chaos Dwarfs : low TV champs with a better roster now than they finished last season with...and also have three rookie division opponents
2. Atlatl 'n' Fukiya / Arcayn / Lizards : Agility skink duo will have their work cut out for them while the Saurii develop on this low TV team
3. NOLA Powers From Above / BillBrasky / Pro Elves: low TV, new-look Nawlins will try to fill up the scoreboards instead of the casualty reports
4. Carolina Pinkeye / Waagh / Nurgle : super-low TV squad will rely on Hak and all the other tricks they can muster

NFC West

1. Los Angeles Glams / Stimme / High Elves : mid-TV team that is always in contention for top 4 in the NFC
2. Arizona Redbulls / Klazam / Chaos Dwarfs : high-TV meanies who suddenly look around to a much less bashy division than before (ie: there are a lot more ballers)
3. Szeattle Scimitars / Nelphine / Dark Elves : mid-TV rookie team led by Seth B [BALL] and a whole lot of weird Nelphine-ness on the rest of the team
4. Trans Fat Crisco Porky Miners / Cervus / Humans : some interesting pieces but unless the three one-skill Blitzers grow up fast, it could be a tough season

AFC

A historically brilliant regular season for the conference saw two teams tie for the 8th seed with fifty nine points...and still miss the playoffs (for comparison, the 8th seed in the NFC had 48 pts). However, with both Aste (moved) and Rel (hiatus) leaving the conference, will it be as dominant this time around?

AFC East

1. New Zigguratland Chariots / Wolvezzz / Chaos Dwarfs : high TV division favorite until someone(s) can start to chip away at the bloaty roster
2. Brew More Gents / ryanfitz / Dwarfs : this low TV team is starting to resemble a hybrid of dwarf meta (Guard/SF) and fitz meta (DP/SG deathroller), which is absolutely terrifying
3. Buffalo Chill / Jeffro / Dark Elves : mid TV team that has the pieces in place to finish a lot higher in the division, or even the conference
4. Floridaman Drunkfinns / Miyuso / Norse : low TV rookie Norse have had success in the league (once), but how will the roster changes impact how it plays on the field?

AFC North

1. Cleaved Land Bedlam / captainmalkor / Chaos : mega-chonker TV squad with championship aspirations
2. Bleaksburg Stranglers / Kzarik / Dark Elves : also mega-chonker TV team that will have unfinished business after missing out on the playoffs last season despite the aforementioned 59 pts
3. No-Skincinnati Bungles / Dutchlife / Khemri : mid-TV boni bois...that's all I got, really
4. Baltimore Nevermore / KidCrestHill / Khorne : very low TV rookie roster who seek Blood for the Blood God but may not find many victories yet

AFC South

1. Houston Treants / Bazakastine / Wood Elves : a high TV, clear division favorite and title contender, who's path got easier with both Aste and Rel no longer directly in his way
2. Titannesse Kraken's / GotrekSlayer / Nurgle : will Aste's exodus likewise help the high TV Krakens' ascend in the division?
3. Jakesonville Jortles / mrt1212 / Skaven : the mad scientist has the perfect race to play around with in low TV Skaven
4. Orkapolis Wargs / Xelron / Orcs : a low TV Orc squad that will look to develop its young positionals over the season

AFC West

Nice, I will throw up a preseason divisional breakdown and what will seem like a late match preview for the entire round (no way of knowing who would be cheduled with whom until now) Alright off to the races, got to finalize those preview graphics and away I go.

Whiskey Polls (marginally unofficial and very scientific)

NFC
EAST: NY Kroaks (the new logo inspires the frogs to a reckless surge to steal the division in the last couple of games)
NORTH: Mean Fae Quackers (age of the birds baby!)
SOUTH: Tampa (knew the commish or something and cheated to get preferential placement)
WEST: Glams (a good divisional rivalry with AZ til then end)

WILDCARDS: Chicago Borkz, Woodington, Dallas (with AZ missing out by less than 3 points - a good race for a change this year)

AFC
EAST: New Ziggy (pulls away from a tight division as Buffalo falls apart to end the season)
NORTH: Cleaved Land (comes down to the last couple games with Bleaks, THIS IS A TIGHT DIVISION)
SOUTH: The Jortles should have taken the division this season, but Houston falls away with it
WEST: KC Geese (BIRDS BABY! BIRDS!)

WILDCARDS: Denver, Houston, Brew More (bubble teams all within 7 points: Buffalo, Bleaksburg, Vegas)

Picking divisional placements too! Brought to you by Michter's Rye
NFC
EAST: NewYork > Woodington > Dallas > Philly (Still odds on as one of the tightest overall divisions)
NORTH: Mean Fae> ChicagOrkz > Mangle > Detroit (division won by a couple of points or even on tiebreakers)
SOUTH: Tampa > NOLA > Atlatl > Carolina (one team with a chance to steal games and two teams building)
WEST: LA > Arizona > Szeattle > TF (This is a two team divisional race)

AFC
EAST: New Ziggy > BrewMore > Buffalo > Miami (Not the powerhouse it once was with Relezite moving on but still some good games to watch)
NORTH: Cleaved > Bleaksburg > No-skin > Balt (No-skin improves and scares .500 this season!)
SOUTH: [s]Jakesonville[/s] > Houston > Jakesonville > Titannnesse > Orkapolis ([s]IT'S JORTLE TIME![/s] Maybe someday but, they aren't our favorite as ratz. The final 3 spots of this division will be CLOSE this season)
WEST: KC > Denver > Vegas > Tijuana (You don't want to face this division this year, likely one of the best out of division records as a whole)

Damn! I HAD JORTLES MAKING THE TURN THIS YEAR AND TAKING THE DIVISION, then I go look and see they are rats now?!?!?!?!!!?? Bah
Our original prediction for the AFC South
SOUTH: The Jortles finally come through and take down the divisional title!
SOUTH: Jakesonville > Houston > Titannnesse > Orkapolis (IT'S JORTLE TIME!)
but nooooo, you had to go change your race!

NBFL Players of the week Season 29
Week 1

Kicking things off with kicks to downed players

Honorable Mentions

Dash's Equipment Manager Detroit Daywalkers

The former equipment manager lays a boot to get the first RIP of the young season, ending the career of what was a promising Valkyrie.

Mephisto Warzeka [WWAF] Orkapolis Wargs

Two casualties for the Big Un to get his team a debut win and their coach in the NBFL win column for the first time

Offensive Player of the Week

Kryten is to Blame! Mean Fae Quackers

6 completions in the first half…all backwards… amazing! Kryten starts his quest to lead the league in passing yards and no one cares that it’ll be in the wrong direction.

Defensive Player of the Week

LaMont Jordon [MA] Tijuana Charros

2 Casualties for Jordon in the absolute destruction and shutout of the AFC champs.

Rookie of the Week

Assiniboine Assisinator [MB]

The bull brought in to hit things, gets a game saving TD for the defending champs in their new home.

Big Guy of the Week

D.J. Davidson New York Kroaks

Just a solid big guy. No stats here, but Davidson tied up enough dwarfs to get the Frogs a win.

Coach of the Week

Lorebass

Lots of coaches had a great first week, but a big division win for Manglesota

Most Valuable Player

Andre Tippett New Ziggland Chariots

I don’t like that the MVP for the week didn’t win the game… But 3 TDs including the 1 turn is an impressive start to the season 29 campaign.

Disagree? I’m recruiting Volunteers to do this each week. If you’re interested in taking a week, let me know in discord.

NBFL Week 1

Taking over for Nelphine, but doing it in a way more befitting of my style: lazier. I shan't be covering MNGs and niggling injuries, and will only cover injuries that seem important (I see you over there, all non-thrower players racking up -PA, and I just. don't. care.). Also, if the injured player is your Arm Bar zombie they don't count either (sorry Clayton Runnerbar). I'll highlight a Death of the Week, but I'm not doing all the SPP conversion so I guess we'll never know how much SPP we've lost each week. You'll just have to mourn the players for their on-field antics and ignore their value Wink. At any rate, without further ado, I present:

Dead of the Week

Franklynn: homegrown saurus; +ST, Block, Guard, Tackle, Mighty Blow
Brenden Dozier (UNCC): draft pick line-elf; Block, Guard

Bender Mandowescence (UMGO)
: draft pick valkyrie; +AG, Cannoneer, Accurate, Safe Pass, On the Ball
Rash Roy (KAMU): draft pick witch elf; Block, Fend, Tackle, Dauntless

Death of the Week: Any time a lizard team loses a 5 skill saurus in week one it is going to hurt a LOT, and Franklynn is no exception. While Super Bowl runner-up Denver is at the high end of TV and Franklynn was slowing in his old age, I'm sure this wasn't the way coach jmonfornton envisioned doing the cutting.

Injured of the Week

Garrett Hughesss [CAL]: draft pick Chosen blocker (-AV); Dodge, Block, Mighty Blow, Guard, Claws, Stand Firm
Terminator Tim [NE]: dark elf blitzer (-AV); Dodge, Tackle, Mighty Blow, Guard, Grab
D'Elric Carr: homegrown elven union thrower (-ST); Cannoneer, Accurate

Interestingly enough, all three of these mangled players remained on their respective rosters and returned to play on Week 3.

Total MNG: 25
Total NI: 19

NBFL Week 2

Back in the saddle for a rather uneventful week of dead and maimed NBFL players!

Dead of the Week

Draxx: elven union line-elf; Block
Devin Singletary: dark elf line-elf; Frenzy, Kick
Garc: high elf line-elf; no skills
Lenwë Falassion: wood elf line-elf; Frenzy, Shadowing
Chatarius Hitwell: high elf thrower; Block

Death of the Week: Every killed player... an elf? And NOT A SINGLE DEAD DRAFT PICK??? What league even is this? Since no one of any importance died, I'm nominating a third party for kill of the week: Lord Borak the Despoiler, who was killed by Cleavedland while playing for the Baltimore Nevermore.

Maimings of the Week

Otaro Alaka #5 [EnM]: draft pick dwarf blitzer (-ST); +MA, +MA, Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle
Fang Ragnow: homegrown vampire (-AV); Pro
Lute Baker [O]: draft pick slann catcher (-AG); Wrestle, Dodge, Strip Ball, Jump Up, Dauntless
Justin Reid: homegrown wood elf line-elf (-AV); Block, Dodge, Guard
Raymond BAMMMM Lewis: homegrown khorngor (-MA); Mighty Blow

Total MNG: 19
Total NI: 12

NBFL Week 3

Now THAT’s the NBFL I remember! The dead piling up like snowdrifts. While a variety of teams contributed their players to the charnel-house, New Zigland was the clear leader with three deposits.

Dead of the Week

Andre Tippett: New Zig superstar bull and (former) TD league leader; +MA, +MA, +AG, +AG, Block
Gloria VanderPunch [NOVA]: New Zig draftee hobgob; Frenzy, Wrestle
Surfer Dude: New Zig minotaur; Guard, Brawler
Dave “Billy” Groat: Las Vegas line-elf; Sneaky Git
Wolff: Denver saurus; Block, Tackle, Mighty Blow, Guard
Awful Yuuukcler: Tijuana rotter; Dirty Player
Jake Fromm (State Farm): Buffalo runner; Pass, Leader
Reggie Blight: Philadelphia beastman; no skills
Mason Cold: Bleaksburg line-elf; Dodge
R. Lunate: No-Skincinnati skeleton; Wrestle, Fend
Jort Thompson: Jakesonville linerat; Foul Appearance

Death of the Week: in a league absolutely stacked with talented stat-freaks, no one can deny that the bulls of New Zigland stood hooves and shoulders above the competition. For two seasons they carried New Zig to numerous victories and deep into the playoffs, pulling off ridiculous stunts like grabbing their way past Indiapolorks in last season’s playoffs or setting up to one-turn on turn 16 while kicking the ball... and then having the nerve to pull it off (I can't remember which opponent this was against or I'd have posted that link, too). They don't build 'em like Andre Tippett very often, probably because whoever did so was arrested and summarily executed by everyone who had to play New Zig after his arrival.

Honorable mention: not, no... it can't be. Jake Fromm (State Farm) is DEAD???? *immediately drops flag to half-mast*

Other honorable mention: Denver loses yet another saurus, this time a 4-skill one, in a season that has started hard and only gotten worse.

Maimed of the Week

James Cook: Buffalo line-elf (-AV); Strip Ball, Block
Justin'The Boot" Tucker: Baltimore marauder lineman (-AV); Foul Appearance

Total MNG: 12
Total NI: 15
