So I am bored waiting for a poker tournament to start and I got to thinking about Bloodbowl. I thought about throwing out some questions and we'll all get to know (and I'm sure love) each other better.

What's your favourite part about the game? Strategy for in game, and the world/setting/fluff
What's your least favourite part? Horatio and 'seasons'

I love the interrelation between space and math, really tickles my synesthesia.
My least favorite part of the game is the fact that it's hard to get people involved.
My goal is to leave it all on the pitch every match. Oh, and to win more league trophies.
My best Blood Bowl memory is my NBFL Season 18 championship run: four awesome games.
My best win? I don't know. I went to my first (only, so far) TT tourney and went unbeaten. That was cool.
My worst defeat was a 4-1 thrashing on TT at the hands of a noob.
OMG, like 25% of my FB friends are from Blood Bowl.
Yes, I lost a good friend over ... many things, but BB was one.
I'm pretty solid, but not one of the very best of the very best.
I try to be a nice guy, except on the pitch, where I relish the role of "heel". Usually it works. Usually.
I get a lot of /shock and /cheer because I bring the /hurt with me. I also get some /crickets.
I'm a Human nut, but I also like Orcs, Undead, High Elves, and Underworld.
Undead or Chaos Renegades, those are my winningest races.

so:
1 I love turn based strategy games, I love the fabrication of chain pushes to allow for something that seemed impossible possible, like 4/5 square away surfs or 1ttd
2 I hate the snowball effect when it happens... there is not much one can do other than pray to Nuffle
3 I want to get involved with the Irish bloodbowl comunity and maybe play in their team
4 Being introduced to the game at a stag party and in the test game my saurus killing a vampire in the first block I ever threw.
5 I dont know... most likely a very tied game against a very tough opponent and then Nuffle decided to play with my team? I have had too many great games to think of one...

1. Generally speaking, the best parts are a mutually appreciated turn/move/play. Those turns where you just have nothing really to say except "very nice".
2. Slow turns, by rote play, boring ties.
3. To take something positive from every match.
4. Huff giving me a "mulligan" in game. Absolutely unnecessary, unexpected, and something I never expect to see anyone do again (unless I get the chance to return the favour). Utter class from a real gentleman.

6. Too many possibles to be honest - some huge dicings in tournaments, but plenty of horrible losses in the early times on FUMBBL. And well, plenty of tilted games over the years too.

The way the game changes with every turn and the required adaptability it takes in order go with it. A constant mental challenge
What's your least favourite part?
When you get diced so bad early in a game that having a chance to win is gone by T5. Just makes me want to restart but I haven't forfeited a match yet so won't start now.
What are your 'goals'?
My simple goal is to gain the experience to give every one a hard game.

Winning 3 games in the fumbbl cup and making a Bar Brawl final.
What is your best win?
Any win against Wood Elves or Skaven. They just have my number most games.

My last Fumbbl Cup loss, letting a natural one turner score without making them dodge or block. Inexperience played a part

1) Team fluff, builds, naming players, records, badges, sometimes I get a hankering for competitive play and uh... League!(CIBBL)
2) Auto-move turned OFF...for the love of
3) To make a tentacle themed Skaven team "work" among many other bad ideas
4) Built a dungeon for our TT Dungeonbowl - massive fun
5)Best win? I usually feel guilty about most of them, and occasionally alright if I feel I played well. Any time I can get past the 1st round in a tournament is a good win.
6)Worst defeat is any that I get tilted in or give up and flail about. I suppose my only concession qualifies (yep, I regret it)

What's your favourite part about the game?
The thrill of carefully building and growing affections for a team only to put it on the line of scrimmage on the arena of death (I’m a pixel hugger - sorry guys). Also Christer’s options for customized league rule sets(!!)
What's your least favourite part?
Advanced min/maxing and too serious approaches to competing in every aspect of the game. I respect it but it’s my least favourite part since Blood bowl to me more often is a source for laughter.
What are your 'goals'?
One day have the time to build a team bio that compete with the best there is on fumbbl.
What is your best Bloodbowl memory?
When I killed my first opponent player by a thrown snotling

Building the top throwgre ever of fumbbl (as well as the overall top passing/completing big guy) Unfortunately his career has been split between two teams due to the forced migration from normal to custom icons in our league.

0-7. The pro elves intercepted everything and a single blitzer took out every snotling by himself.

I believe so. Mainly through the league I am commissioning.

I believe we have played each other one time in ranked (in one of the few times I’ve actually played outside leagues) and I recall you were a nice guy - nicer than most of the other opponents (who kind of drove me back to my league safe zone). |

The strategy primarily but mixed in with that bit of luck needed. Means nothing is ever certain and keeps it interesting.
What's your least favourite part?
When the dice are overwhelming and the strategy is reduced to a bystander.
What are your 'goals'?
I like trying to win majors and haven't for a bit - I'm due!
What is your best Bloodbowl memory?
One of my best mates getting the board game when we were 14 and six of us having a mini league.
What is your best win?
I got creamed in the first qualifying round of the ulthuan and lost my best players but managed to go on and win the tournament with a comparatively average side.
What was your worst defeat?
I had a 3+ dodge with rr to win a major final with my orcs in turn 16 but I failed it and then promptly lost the coin toss too.
Have you gained friends/acquaintances from playing Bloodbowl?
Yes I have now been to York three times with a nice group of people from the site (Purplechest,Throweck, Mister Joshua, Pete W, Endzone and Jimmy Fantastic).

Happily no.

Pretty good - I don't lose many games where I feel I have been outplayed tactically.

Mixed - I have at least one person, or maybe a group (could even be a club) who seem to follow me round booing my every move (at which point the mute button comes in very handy), but in bigger games with larger crowds I also hear a few cheers.

1.) What's your favourite part about the game?
* The background fluff and teams with effort put into presentation (bonus points for history).
* The way a good strategic match can pull you in, staring hawkeyed at every square the opponent walks, bouncing ideas as to what you should be doing next and hoping that lino doesn't die yet because you need them to stand next to a krox for one more turn. Even a loss can be a great game if it's a great game.
* Players who make games great.
2.) What's your least favourite part?
* Bland instruments. Imagine a dwarf team, where every player has only Guard, MB and Stand firm (plus Tackle on the Blitzers). No stats. No fluff or logo. Names in the vein of "durk stonefist" through to "durk rockfist". No conversation. It might be a very efficient machine, but considering the game could be entertainment for two people, it has a certain air of public self-satisfaction about it.
* Poor sportsmanship. The difference between winning and getting one over on someone is attitude. I think the community has become a lot better in this regard over the past decade. Perhaps I was just (more) terrible at the game back then.
3.) What are your 'goals'?
* I'd like to fluff and level up a set of "core" teams so they're nice to look at and playing with them feels like more of an event - especially if I ever have the time and inclination to try out a big tourney.
* Practice good sportsmanship. When my player kicks a wardancer in the grapes so hard its neck snaps, there tends to be an urge to rub it in over chat. Objectively that might be cruel and unnecessary. On the flipside, when a dicing is inbound, keep lamentation to the absolute minimum.
4.) What is your best Bloodbowl memory?
One turn touchdown (through a screen) with a 8339 Orc blitzer. Thanks to Grab, I could leave the blitz for the run-in. I still lost the game, but it was fun.
5.) What is your best win?

6.) What was your worst defeat?
It will have been a game where the dice were so loaded it became pointless to plan ahead. Those are all terrible.

9.) How do you rate yourself as a player?
I'm okay.

I try not to be an arse. See above regarding sportsmanship.

Haven't the faintest. Personally, I root for teams rather than coaches. Usually the underdog.
12.) What is your favourite race to play as?
Orcs. I don't know how or why, but they speak to me. Really Stupid on the Troll is just marvellous, also.
Delfs are a close second, Prelfs and Necros tied for third.
13.) What is your most successful race to play as?
If one was to believe the Fumbbl All Division Rankings I'm the fourth best Orc coach on the site (lol, don't). I'm also apparently undefeated with Necros. This should teach you that statistics are mostly meaningless.

I've lost to him twice and seem to remember deserving at least one of those. Always great to spec and play against good coaches.
15.) May I add a question? What's your favourite team and why?
Steilfais en Frons because they're all fluffed up and ready to go to a Major if I ever feel like dropping out in round 1. |

What's your favourite part about the game?
The fluff and the diveristy of all the races which means that it never gets stale.
What's your least favourite part?
Coaches who complain about the bad dice, and specially when it is statisticly normal.
What are your 'goals?
Trying to get myself into the tabletop-scene. In fumbbl I have three goals! First is to get better and take a team to win every tournament once (which will never happend but....), Try to get a khermiteam on the same journey (which is even more unlikely) and the most important and funniest is to guide my orchteam through Löbbl.
What is your best Bloodbowl memory?
Im quite bad at remembering things(not by choise, im afraid) from the past, good and bad, and I am more focused into the "now and future" moment and Im sure I had plenty but it may involve my fluff with my orchteam in Löbble, where all my players run away with my treasure so I had to play with 11 loner lineorchs, or that I got all the way to being one of the 8 finalist in the recent GLT. Think it was my second or third major, so it is possibly I may never be able to repeat that.
What is your best win?
It is the same here, Im so bad at remembering those, so it is actually every time the last win I be able to pull of, cause I can hang on to that memory for maybe a minute or so.
What was your worst defeat?
It is almost the same answer as the precious. I just cant remember, but..... I hate to lose when im in total control of the game and my opponent is able to avoid a sure loss by a million to one scenario. It happends maybe 1 in every 100 games or so, and the sad part of it is that I just remembers one. It was in our local league a few years back when I was wiping the floor with my opponent slowly grinding him down and after what seames like 1000 succesfull 1db vs my orcs and a epic finish he won. He has (sadly)become the face of those horrible matchendings when they happend. And no, I will not say his name and yes, I still love the guy . I have no problem losing a close game and/or to a better coach. Othervise I would just be mad forever!

I think so. I mean, I have made lots of friends online and if things go as planned, I just might meet them in preson and play some of them in the winter/spring.

After some serious playtesting and complicated statistics a few months back, I am very very mediocre!

I like to think Im more in the nice guy area but, thats also what every bully would say :/

I dont know. I mostly dont have specs lol(im just dont good/famous enough), and in our league we mostly rooting for the underdog!

Khemri. Love them! They just cant do anything without having problem.
What is your most successful race to play as?
Lizards! Im currently having a 30 wins, 16 loses run with lizards overall. Which feels strange when I look at it, and I mostly blame the race for being to good.

He is such a nice player and coach that he didnt wanna let me feel bad when I was playing him so he decided to give our game a draw. The fact that he did play elves and I played dwarfs may have something to do with it also but.... (no need to tell him that, is there?) |

Hardly my best necro team, in fact, it's my worst that's survived the first 5-10 games without being retired. But it was my first, and it's been used in a few majors purely because of that. It's also my most fluffed, and the theme (imo) is great for a necro team. The record would probably be a lot, lot better now if I were to start over, but part of the charm is being able to see personal growth.
Was a bit of a toss-up between this and my high elves who are tribute to 2 dodges 1 blitz and the Finnish community on FUMBBL in general. |
