running ubuntu 18.04

discord guys suggested oracle jre8

My quess is that your PC is trying to open the file with java, not the jawa web starter.

The log implies JRE 11.0.7 rather than Oracle JRE 8, which isn't a supported runtime (it lacks Java Webstart technology).

Install Oracle Java8 from java.com and use that.

Any chance It could run on Open JDK instead od Oracle's Java?

You should install OpenJdk-8 packages...and icedtea packages also (in linux)
