Blitz Pit 8 open qualification... It could be you!
Heya folks, in the spirit of widening contacts between the respective bloodbowl communities (lies, there only is one, and it's all bloodbowl), and with the possibility of filling some gaps in people's weekends with games or viewing, here's some news for Blitz Pit 8.

What is blitz pit?

BP is a double elimination tournament with a twist (2 losses and you are out)
Overtime format is used
Turn timer is set to 1 minute turns (bb2 timers on blocks etc can stretch this out)
The tournament is resurrection format with teambuilding rules
No inducements may be used apart from the one you have rostered
The grand final is a best of 1. There is no second chance for the finalist who comes through the winners bracket, however the winner of the upper bracket will decide whether to kick or receive in the first half of the grand final but will not decide the OT coin toss.

So what's this qualifier about then?

Well for BP9, our esteemed organiser GdayNick has decided to expand things a little bit. The above rules apply for the finals. Which will be 6 places filled by invite-only, and the remaining 10 spots filled via group stages (previous money winners invited, 14 spots open) and an open qualification system.

The prize pool for BP8 is $1000, split amongst top finishers in the final event.

Okay, I have BB2, how do i take part?
Well first of all, make sure you have september 19th and/or October the 3rd open for the open qualifiers (you can state availability for only one date here), and the weekend of october 24-25th free for the group stages. As well as the 7-8th November for the main event itself. Or you know, just enter a quali and see what happens.

Format

BP8 Open Qualifiers will be a single elimination format (1 loss and you are out)
Overtime format will be used (then go to kicks)
Turn timer will be set to 1 minute turns
The tournament is resurrection format with teambuilding rules (1.1M roster, 6 Normals, no tiering)
No inducements may be used apart from the ones you have rostered
The pool of participants will be split into single elimination tournaments based on the number of participants and number there will be 6 sections in the September Qualifier fighting for 6 invites. The details for the October Qualifier will be released closer to the date but will be a similar format with field split into sections to fight for an invite.
Seeding will occur
Each Section will be a single elimination tourney

Full details and more info on the qualifiers and group stage is available here.
