The Numb Brains are the neighborhood watch of blood bowl organizations. Spurred by The Prophet to start a local chapter in Numas, Jasper the Wise began recruiting from the local and recently-deceased. However, he was not only limited to those who had recently died, he was limited to those who had recently died without previous commitments. As such, several founding players had never even picked up a ball before (we're talking about you Richard). Nonetheless, Jasper hoped the team would one day reach enough success that they could install a local field. That way they wouldn't have to meet for practice in players' backyards.
