END REGULAR SEASON So, there's two ways of approaching this season. Either, our brave lads gloriously avoided defeat all season ~ An accomplishment surely worthy of praise. OR, our super highly over levelled bunch of underperforming green muppets managed to draw 5 times out of 7 and barely scrape to the playoffs in 3rd place! It's hard to argue against the latter. With Nuffle very much ambivalent regarding our fortunes this year, it is hard to push blame anywhere other than oft-maligned on field coach, Generul Bombad. In a rare, actually attended post-season interview, he had this to say: "Da Oldz Cruel? 'M I still manager dere? I 'anded my notiss in to dem uselss gitz arfway fru last seezon. Ave made lots 'f coin bettin gainst em all year. Ha ha. When dey looz da playoffz I'll ave enouff to retire. Screw Da Oldz Cruel. I 'ope dey looz." Which frankly, is the nicest thing anyone's said about the team in a long time. With the weight of literally no-one behind them, who is to come in this teams second semi-final appearance? Could it possibly be worse then the vampiric blight of the night? Oh, it's a team of anthropomorphic dinosaurs on steroids, led by a literal statistics professor with a 90% success record. Fantastic... SEASON 2 PRE-SEASON Forget the downplaying and self-depreciation of last season. After 2 runners up medals in a row, the hype and expectation is real this time around. Could this be our time? Most Valuable Team (MVT) of big, hulking lunatics? - Check. Scores of expectant fans? - Check. A competent coach to lead them all to victory? - Errr... We'll put a pin in that one for now. Some reasonable dice luck along the way? - OK, you know what? Forget it? #Notlast will suffice. So season 2 begins. More of the same or back to reality? Let's find out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEASON 1 PRE-SEASON Managed by the scintillating Genurul Bombad, Da Oldz Cruel ironically have not been around very long. They have literally one, single, solitary goal this season. DO NOT COME LAST! Seriously, it is just getting embarrassing now… END REGULAR SEASON Well... I think it's fair to say no-one saw that coming... 2nd Place in the regular season? Flippin 'eck. AND, if not for an ill-fated BBQ incident there may have been enough blood - sorry, red wine - flowing for a pinch shot at the belt! Unfortunately the Vamps had sobered up by the time they faced our brave boys, and were annoyingly quelled of thirst throughout. But still, playoffs is a fair effort for this plucky team of rascals. And our Semi-Final opponents are... oh... Vamps. Yay... POST PLAYOFFS We lost. Vampires are stupid. |
