| <b> a.k.a. "the Cripple Brigade"</b> Arkham Avalanche is, obviously and like so many other teams, themed on the writings of <a href="http://www.hplovecraft.com/">H.P. Lovecraft</a>. A certain Herbert West functions as the team's apothecary, practicing his own particular kind of, er... medicine. Should you see a player on the pitch that you were certain you had previously disposed of permanently, rest assured that Dr. West has treated the subject with a dose of his special cocktail. After five matches and an initial record if 1/1/3, Arkham Avalanche decides to change tactics. Team Captain Abdul Alhazred comments: "Well, something clearly needs to be done. Sure, we've had some bad luck, but for the most part we've just been playing poorly. We've been practicing a new offense that will hopefully turn things around for us." Five matches later, things are even worse, with a record of 2/1/7. Even though the casualty record for the last five matches (5-19 against) has something to do with the poor performance, the Avalanche is obviously doing something wrong. The coach is very disappointed with the team, and rumours of retirement are circling the taverns of Arkham as well as the Avalanche's locker rooms. The move to Unranked Division turns out to be what the team needed. The Avalanche wins two of its first three games with no touchdowns conceded. Team Captain Alhazred is forced to retire after smashing his hand in <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=625570">this match</a> though. He comments: "The team is enjoying the less competitive environment of Unranked, and has adopted a pretty flashy playing style. We like it here and I will help coaching the team now that I can't play myself." |
