Honest Joe's Skiff Emporium

It may surprise readers to learn that the humble skiff is the most prized sea going vessel in Sartosa. While almost any boat has greater cargo capacity, none are better at evading scrutiny and capture by the coastguard, maritime police, customs, inland revenue, courts, appeal court, supreme court, bailiffs, sheriffs, financial services authority and other well paid guardians of island civilisation.

Honest Joe's Skiff Emporium (or, to give it it's full name, Honest Joe's Exclusive New, Good As New, Used and Second Hand Sartosan Skiff Emporium) has for long been the largest skiff dealership on the island. Honest Joe, being such a pillar of Sartosan society, is naturally asked to adjudicate or otherwise assist in the many commercial disputes that arise in such a fractious and clannish place. He will of course usually oblige (for a small fee). The settlement of larger disputes often results in the ownership of a skiff or two mysteriously "transferring" into the hands of none other then Honest Joe himself.

Bouncer and Minder (Ogres) are responsible for basic enforcement and protection. Their hulking size and brutish appearance are normally enough to ensure instant compliance.

Anyone foolish enough to contemplate late payment or other forms of "disloyalty" is likely to receive a visit from Whacko and Thwacko, well known Blood Bowlers of the "unhinged" variety.

Nearly all of the commission is earned by Dodgy and Shifty, unparallelled salesmen of Corsair origin. For who can fail to be won over by their honesty and charm?

Most Sartosan men spend their time away from home raiding and feuding. Honest Joe is only too happy to provide steady employment for their poor neglected womenfolk. In such a way has the Emporium now become the largest private sector employer on the island.
