Roger said he didn't want me in the scrip club. I was like, well, you know, I don't think there's nothing wrong with going to the scrip club. It ain't no sin to go to the scrip club, you know, I was just being rebellion. This team has pretty much driven the coach nuts. The first five matches left the team with a 3/1/1 record, but the tides turned after that. A steady stream of injuries has followed the team (with the crowds being particularly cruel), seeing the Rebels often fielding a shorthanded team. A run of unfun matches ended with a terrifically horrid match against <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=521034">Fair and Funny</a>, a typical khemri team. Not surprisingly, elf killer felt the need to keep fouling through T16 in an effort to clear the pitch and kill as many of the Rebels as possible and ended up with a cas statline of 2/4/3 (apo failed on our niggled troll). Luckily, the two stars of the team, <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=6147705">G. V. Kromah</a> and <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=6117661">John Devoy</a> suffered only mng injuries during the match. The match saw the ratings of the Rebels go from 176/184 to 152 / 99 with 6 players available for the next match and a 6ff. Sacking the niggled troll after the match and buying a replacement player brought our stats to a 141/111 TR/TS. Determined not to let the team drift into the ether, Nuffle rewarded the Rebels with a <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=2514301">match</a> against a halfling squad. No injuries were taken, and we earned a much needed +ff. Thus, the rebuilding began. The matches that followed have seen good times and bad, but the Rebels are again back to 11 players (even though one needs to be replaced), and have finally reached a double digit fan factor after 28 matches. Nuffle has even been good enough to bestow more +stats and some doubles on the team as well. Things are going fairly well, and the team is looking forward to competing for a long time to come. With some luck, we shall even up our win/loss record, and erase that -13 cas differential. As much as I enjoy rebuilding a team, I pray I don't have to do such a long job of it again with these players. |
