After the Nuln Gunnery School cut funding to their blood bowl team, many players who were reliant on the sport to help pay their tuition dropped out and attempted to keep the team alive as a traveling blood bowl troupe.

After playing a few friendly matches with local teams and picking up their Ogre, Edd 'Steamtank' Kruk, they made a name for themselves and were invited to play some competitive matches against teams from outside the Wissenland province.

With the gold they made from their friendly matches, they were able to set up their very own stadium in the town of Kotzenheim near the Wissenland-Averland border. In the new Hellstorm Stadium, named after the famous Hellstorm Rocket Battery they were taught to fire in Gunnery School, they played their first match against the Spoon Lords of Forkia. This was an amazing 4-0 victory against their first non-human team, and they immediately won many old fans back from the school in Nuln, as well as new fans from the Averland area.

With a surge of confidence, they challenged a nearby traveling high elf team, the Cleaveland Crowns. This team had a bit of a reputation, and would prove to be a strong opponent. After a hard fought match which had their apothecary, Garson Barber, dragging player after player into the dugout to patch up, they were able to hold the prestigious high elf team at a tie. This match, despite being a tie, won the Sharpshooters more fans for facing a strong team without fear. Sadly, Dr. Barber was unable to save their team captain, Big Bernard Rottenburg, from a broken neck. Rottenburg thankfully still lives and serves the team as an assistant coach, but they had lost their team captain, and needed a new thrower.

They held a tryout session and called far and wide for anyone to come prove their worth. While many fell short, one individual arrived just at sundown when all hope seemed lost. A man by the name of Vlad Carstein came from the East, and even in the dark showed lightning speed, orc like strength, and threw the ball even more accurately than Big Bernard. The Sharpshooters knew they had found their new thrower.

With James Duncan taking the place of their new team captain, and Vlad Carstein as their new thrower, the Sharpshooters move on to challenge other teams far and wide, and look to join the great NCBBL in one of its tournaments to prove they are the best Wissenland, or even the Empire, has to offer to blood bowl.

When King Mazdamundi sent out the call for teams to come to Lustria to participate in his Hexoatl Open tournament, the Sharpshooters saw their chance at fame and glory. They used what cash they had left over and hired a wizard to teleport the team to the ancient Lizardman city. The Sharpshooters quickly impressed the crowd, going undefeated in the tournament and making it to the playoffs. They took a beating in their first round of the playoffs against the Beat'um Up Crew, but the team fought through injury and moved on the face the legendary LarZards on their home turf. Rallied by the cheers of their fans, they held the LarZards back in the first half, stopping them from scoring on their receive. Then the second half came and it was the Sharpshooter's turn to receive. They held back the LarZards long enough for their thrower to get around and get the ball to star player Puggy Baconbreath. Puggy deftly dodged his way up the field and was nearly able to run in for a score, but then Croc, the LarZards' kroxigor, broke away from the battle and charged Puggy. Puggy would have made it away, were it not for Croc's deadly tail which squished Puggy like jelly and left the ball wide open for the LarZard's skinks to take it. In final desperate efforts to get the ball back, the Sharpshooters took risks, risks that Captain Duncan wouldn't normally let them take, and they lost players because of it. Captain Duncan himself was the first to go, trying to hold of the massive beast, Beda II. Unable to escape his claws, Captain Duncan was torn in half by the brute, and the morale of the Sharpshooters began to fade.

It was then that Von Kessel, the founder of the team but one who never wanted the mantle of leadership, took the ceremonial Gunnery Sergeant badge from Duncan's corpse and rallied the team. Gore drenched, the Sharpshooters fought with a rage that would overpower that of a minotaur, but it was not enough. The sharp teeth and rending claws of the LarZards sent more players off the pitch, and ended the life of catcher Damion Früh. With hardly anyone left to oppose Mazdamundi's champions, the LarZards were able to score right before the end of the second half, and walk away with the Zenith Staff and a great win for Hexoatl.

Under the new leadership of Von Kessel, the Sharpshooters sailed back home, taking their fallen comrades back to Wissenland to bury them proper. Von Kessel, despite his dislike for leading, vowed to rebuild the Sharpshooters, and come back to get revenge on the LarZards. They had had their first taste of defeat, and it sat sour in their mouths. It was a taste they would be rid of, and restore their honorable name.

After months of training under the new leadership of Manfred von Kessel, the Sharpshooters were finally ready for another tournament. Perfect timing had them ready to play just before the Conorian Cup was to begin. This time they would come out on top, this one wouldn't end like Hexoatl did. The Sharpshooters waited anxiously for the first week of the Conorian Cup as they received the first bye, and they were energized for their first match during the second week. An old opponent, the Hell Horde was their first match up. They had played them in an off season exhibition match, and though it ended in a tie, they slew two beastmen, and came out feeling stronger than ever. Now they met them on the pitch again, and the Hell Horde was out for bloody revenge. With the Hell Horde's chosen warrior, Nabthatoron, calling for Team Captain Manfred Von Kessel's head, the team knew they needed to go for a swift and agile victory, and keep their players healthy for the rest of the tournament. The Hell Horde had other plans, and the match quickly turned into a brawl, and if it weren't for assistant coach Big Bernard calling in a few favors and getting the Mighty Zug to join them on the pitch, the Sharpshooters would have been outmatched. Tragedy still struck in the first half, when Nabthatoron carved his way through players to reach Von Kessel. In a mad scramble for the ball, Von Kessel came face to face with Nabthatoron, and in one swift blow, he impaled Von Kessel upon his spiked gauntlet, and kicked his lifeless body to the pitch.

Were it any other team, their morale would have been broken, but the Sharpshooters rallied over the corpse of Von Kessel and held off the Horde from scoring. When they received in the second half, they used the tactics Von Kessel had taught them, and faked the Hell Horde into committing to one side of the pitch, sending thrower Bigsby Morgan around the clear side for a touchdown. With only little precious time left on the clock, the Sharpshooters pressured the Horde into splitting up for a pass, and kicker Uriel Goldberg moved in for a game ending interception, while the rest of the team slew another beastman to avenge Captain Von Kessel.

Their first game of the tournament a victory, they move on with high hopes, but now under a new Team Captain. The Gunnery Sergeant Badge would now go to Corwyn Whitethrope. While not an original member of the team, he joined shortly after their first exhibition match, and has been with them since, further solidifying himself to be considered an honorary original member. It was a hard choice for the team, as the badge usually goes to the player who has been with the team the longest, but the only original players left alive were Edd Kruk, an ogre who doesn't quite have a mind for leadership, Uriel Goldburg, a man that sure can kick, but admits himself he's always been a follower, and lastly, lineman Alan Crane. Alan Crane seemed the proper choice, as he's a tactful player, but his recent sponsorship deal with Crimson Minotaur and strange mutation after drinking their energy potions has left the rest of the team questioning his loyalty. The Badge should have gone to him, but having a possible mutant, or even heretic leading the Sharpshooters isn't something the rest of the team wants. Crane's divide between his sponsorship and his team has been furthered by the decision to deny him leadership, but he still plays to prove he's the best on the team. Team Captain Corwyn now looks to the near future, and is solely focused on winning the Sharpshooters the Conorian Cup.
