Imagine using the custom homefields ZioCrock (with the client in mind) has made for all* the races in the new FFB client.
I think that would be magical, and suspect it wouldn't prove too difficult a coding slingshot.
Would be a shame to let all that artistic work go unused.
What am I talking about? Check them out in this thread.
Here's an example (Lizardmen, perfect BB weather):

I'd forgotten about these! Man, they would be so, so sweet to be able to finally use.

Yes these are great, though they would have to be edited slightly as the dugouts would need to be removed to make them compatible with the FFB client. |

Well it would certainly add to the atmosphere. would be cool if it was used somehow.
gameplay stuff: Should home/away be randomized between the two races playing?, since no one is creating the game anymore using the new client? |

would need to check that all pitches contrast sufficiently with all teams - don't want my players blending in to the background and being forgotten about |

As long as yo could turn them off and use the default I don't see an issue. I think some of them are awesome, but some would be just too hard to play on. |

I like those waaaaaay more than the one in the new client. A couple of problems though. First of all they still have the reserves, and CAS boxes on the pitch, which admittedly is an easy fix. The 2nd thing is that some of them have images on them that might be GW copyrighted... which might be an issue.
However I still vote YES since I really dislike the inclient pitch.
If nothing else I'd like to have my team logo be added just like in the Skiijunki client. |

What's wrong with the current pitch? It's not awesome enough anymore? |

I am very happy with the current pitch. While the Ziocrock pitches are quite nice, many aren't very functional imo. I think I'd tire of a number of them. |

I would always like to use my own custom pitch. Mine has marked squares so I know where to place the ball and where to place my players on offense without having to count squares. |

having the option of enabling race-specific custom playfields is one solution to this
this way you could chose the fields you want for each race in an .ini file, or leave the parameter open to use the default pitch
more options, more fun
but of course, this is something for down the road |

Of course, there's never going to be a .ini file for the new client.
But I see your point. |

It could work the same way that logos/icons work at the moment. That is to say you have 3 options. Your custom pitch, the site's custom pitches (i.e these ones) or the clients default pitches. |
