In my new job I have been working 60+ hours a week. I dont mind, but still this has got me thinking.
Live to work, or, work to live.
Sounds like a Hamlet ripoff, but still:
Is your work only a means to an end, or is it an end in itself?
What kind of person are you?
For some reason I think that Blood Bowlers often are in the "Work to live" bracket |

A categorical work to live, unlike 99.99% of males living in your town. |

Yes, that high. 60 hours a week trying to work out how to use that trainline would make me a sad mouse. |

Work to live definitely. It's great to have an enjoyable job but I think most people really want the money to relax or travel etc. 60 hour week sounds a bit heavy! |

20 hours of that won't be paid either. 'You can go home if you like, but everybody else is staying until midnight, what I mean is you won't be letting the team down, but you will'.
Totally sucks working out there. |

If you don't stay the extra 20 hours, will you be the first to be downsized? |

People at my work just got off their schedule of 140 hour work weeks (20 hours/day).
Suck it up and enjoy the OT. |

Japanese salaries are heavily based around a quarterly bonus, suffice to say who will and won't be getting the bonus, which really is regarded as part of the salary. |

It's a fantastic place to visit. Doesn't sound like a good place to work, well unless you are lucky. Perhaps if you work for a non-Japanese company who have a small office there it could work out very well. |

Not sure where this fall:
I don't need work to live (I could just give up and receive social security due to severe health issues (note: I wouldn't call it living, just existing)), however work makes me feel alive. I currently don't have energy to work fulltime, but even working a few hours each day makes me feel more of a person and less of a burden on society. However if I spent all my energy working, I would neglect my health (part of the treatment is to work out regularly), and probably be worse off. So it's a balance. I feel more alive when I work, but all work and no play makes Shraaaag an invalid. |

Well yes, certainly better to work for a foreign company. However they have to work by Japanese laws and in general it is better off for them to use some Japanese working ethics. |

If you hate your work then you work to live. If you love what you do for work then it tends to blend in with your life in general, because people only love things that they can deeply associate with on a personal level.
So the poll can boil down to "Do you enjoy what you do? Yes, no, or cake." |

Yeah, I mean honestly, that's just a rookie mistake. |
