I still miss the old 3rd edition Injury rolls, before they brought in the Cas table. If I roll double 6 (or 11 with MB/DP), the guy should be dead... |

That's the worst idea I ever heard. All the best touchdowns since the birth of Blood Bowl cannot be compared to a legendary Wardancer killed by a Goblin gangfoul. |

There you go koadah, no orc required. |
heh heh heh.
Wached America's Game yesterday. 76 Raiders!
Aaah they had proper football in them days. The Saints woulda been heroes not villains.
I guess being in the school rugby team at the time the movie Rollerball was released is partly to blame for this attitude. |

If you could pick up swords from the field like on the old computer game Brutal Sports Football that would help the Elves match Dwarfs in the blocking battle. And scoring with players heads was fun. But that was very, very bloody. |

First of all, I don't think it's a thread about to changing the rules according to one's play style.
That said, I'd like to answer to the original post:
Retro21 wrote: | This is going to be controversial but just thinking aloud. What about Blood Bowl without the cas? So just stunned, and then if you do serious damage they can be down on the floor for an extra turn (and your guys still get spp).
This would keep 11 players on the pitch and games would become more tactical than a war of attrition that sometimes emerges.
I haven't thought this through, there's probably a lot of reasons this wouldn't work, but thought it was an intriguing idea? |
Yes, coachs would have to rely on different tactics. I guess Cpomb might fall flat.
harvestmouse wrote: | So how will Dwarfs ever beat elves? |
Most teams doesn't need the cas to win. However, they do help.
While this is always possible to get counter examples (and those are tied to particular circonstances), I'd like to point a Orc team that won 2 Major Qualifier in a row (Scroll down : Ulthuan 3 Obsidian Qualifier and Ulthuan 2 Obsidian Qualifier), with a good representation in the final play : Yo rc II
As most of us will probably notice, it doesn't have a single MB/DP/PO. and those qualifier were filled by team of the dark side. It faced the unnerfed DPs, Claws and RSC...
How did it won ? That's obviously luck, but that was also favored by positionning and constantly knocking down the opposition.
Retro21 wrote: | I know there are problems with the theory, but looking for solutions, a way to make it work, rather than just looking for holes |
I hope the history of that good team helps you weighting your judgement. There is already solutions, in the current LRB (as in the old) to win. Meta would shift from cpomb to agile/fast teams, but those old orcs wouldn't perform worse. |
