Hey all,
Mashie Niblick is starting to move up in terms of team value currently sitting at 1550TV. We have a roster of 12 and 3RR and I am at a bit of a loss as to where I should go from here.
I am sure that 12 is a little light for a roster, especially as we are facing bigger and badder teams now but I am wondering how many is a good number for CD? 13 or 14 seems to feel right but I am really just starting out with them so would like some advice from those that know them a bit better.
Interestingly, around the traps there doesn't seem to be much in the way of chatter or threads about how to develop a CD roster as they move towards the upper middle range in TV towards the big units that will surely be faced down the line. Any suggestions on any element of the roster would be appreciated be it how many players to have, future skills that should or could be chosen etc.
Thanks in advance,
DrPoods

Get claw
Get piling on
Roll over people
Also if you don't foul that much I'd think having 12 players is okay until TV gets higher. |

True, but I love golf and I still didn't know what a Mashie Niblick was until I went and looked it up |

Heh heh. Yup.
Funny how many people have looked that up!
And tmoila, I usually like fouling but I hardly ever do it with this team given I only have 12. Was considering the next hobgob to skill gets DP and then get another...
Keep it coming fellas. |

A few comments in general.
1) Ranked and Blackbox development is different. So, people who use their B teams or experience with CDs in the box as examples may not fit here.
2) How you approach Ranked makes a difference. Are you just going to search gamefinder for all your games - or are you going to be entering smacks/minors/majors?
That being said there are essentially 2 approaches:
Kill Them All Team: This team focuses on getting the killer players - at least 2 clawpombers and lots of DP. Very little utility skills and aims to just remove all your opposing players.
- Ways to find games: Hunt new players or enter smacks/tournaments (since no one else will really want to play your team willingly).
Balanced Team: Here it is fine to take 1 claw, maybe 2 later - but doubles should be spent on Dodge or DT (I prefer DT). You want to prioritize guard and stand firm on your blockers - take less PO. Your bull want to prioritize Block --> Break Tackle -- they take tackle/guard -- hope for doubles for dodge and sidestep. Your bulls become the key mobility element of your team.
- Ways to find games: Gamefinder against folks that are not jaded due to the Kill All CD teams or enter smacks/tournaments (many people will be willing to play your team as long as they actually look at it).
Personally I prefer the balanced team and would skill as follows:
Bulls: Block --> Break Tackle --> Guard --> Tackle --> Mighty Blow (normal skills)
Dodge --> Sidestep (double skills)
Blockers (x2): Guard --> MB --> Jug --> Fend --> PO (earlier if no claw) (normal skills)
Claw --> Horns (double skills)
Blockers (x4): Guard --> MB --> SF --> whatever is needed
Diving Tackle --> Tentacles (double skills)
Hobgoblins (x1): Sure hands --> ballcarrier stuff (hope for +stats)
Hobgoblins (the rest): DP or Block |

Good advise from Azure. I'd consider prehensile tail as a doubles skill on blockers. I dream of a team with 6 tails in it. |

I think this would be cool too. I've also wondered if getting Foul Appearance on 3-4 CDs would be worth the hassle? |

Yeah, but... "Happy Gilmore"?
You're missing so many of the truly greats - the master Ty Webb, Al Czervik (amateur), Roger Dorn (amateur), Roy McAvoy and Romeo Posar - Carl Spackler, THE original "Cinderella Kid" - the list goes on and on... |

Whats wrong with Happy Gilmore? He's the only one I know on that list. But then again I think that golf is the most mind-numbingly awful 'sport' in the history of sport. |

You've obviously forgotten about cricket. |
