Hey guys,
since I can't for my life get a tabletop 7s league going atm, I've been using my free time to work on the Special Play Cards. I've found they are amazingly fun and add a lot to the game. But I also wanted to build on them, trying to
1. eliminate any 'boring' cards (as basic inducements, or too static effects)
2. make them thematically more consistent, and
3. make them, to some extent, more consistent in gameplay character.
I'm close to finishing them one by one and posting them on TFF. Of course I want to give them to the community ready for printing at some point, and if some people like them it was worth it
Anyway, here is the first deck, the dirty tricks. I'm of course happy for any input/

Unfortunately, you have to be registered to view TFF topics - the same goes for images hosted there. Maybe you should host it on FUMBBL and / or paste and copy the topic here?
Cheers. |

The file is too large for FUMBBL, but I put into my Public Dropbox folder for anyone to see. (The first link in the initial post should now work.) |

I'm seriously thinking about making a few small changes to the cards, to build them so that:
1) they work nicely as the only allowed inducement type
2) also thinking about making a 100k 'secret weapon' deck, with all the secret weapons you know and love. The only question is: aren't most of the secret weapons way too bad for 100k? What if it would be another 50k deck and the chainsaw would be slightly nerfed? Hm... Devoted Fans coming up soon. |

100k is too much for the weapon if you latch it onto a rostered player, and you will lose that said player at the end of the drive.
A totally different idea. What if you could get a card, which has an effect, but gives inducement money to the opponent to balance its effect? There are sequences to work out, but I can see tremendous potential in them. (Similarly you could add creative drawbacks, like giving the card to the opponent after playing, or the opponent draws a card from a certain deck, or advantages that you can draw a card from a deck, etc. Those could be also combined if you wanted. Those open up lots of different costing, thus lots of new set of effects are possible from balancing point of view.) |

That is definitely true. I guess even the best secret weapons aren't too cheap for 50k, if you take the added cost of the player who wields it into account.
In addition, you can't simply choose which one you get if you draw the from deck.
Except the rules i would give Goblin Teams in this variant - instead of having the fixed secret weapon players i would grant them to select 2-3 of their choice from the deck on principle (beside any other inducements). That way it's not the same player all the time who comes with a 'secret weapon', which is not really logical anyway, and the goblin player can play them at an opportune moment on a player who maybe has some skills.
Oh and I love your idea of the 'bouncing card'... i'll try to think of something where it fits . |

Ok guys, there's a bit of a restructuring going on. Or a rule-set creation, something like that.
I am working, everything just might take a little bit more time
