A red herring this time. Just so you beware your wishes, dear Sir: telling that the site is not a democracy has very little to do with "reminding of how the site works." It also works by negation, with all the limitations your critical thinking classes should have teached you. None of my speech acts require to be performed in a political setting where the notion of democracy applies. Everything I say can be felicitous in a private space.

Having a clear, bright line rule might be worthwhile; while it does mean people would skate around it, which can be avoided with a judgment based rule, it also means it's a lot clearer when people violate it, which is helpful both for social stability and for people to know how to follow it. |
