I figured Xipe-Totec would be drafted by Tampon Bay, but we'll see how this goes. Buffalo is about the highest spot at which Coatlique made sense. I think a C- for Xipe-Totec is okay (Errict Rhett would have been safer), but Coatlique deserves a higher grade, like a B or B+ minimum. Unless you think Barry Leegle is better as a WE Catcher, which would make you what I call "wrong". There were no Throwers on board, remember.

CHEFCTER: Well, folks, after those long, arduous commercials, we're back. You're tuned in to the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show for Season 14. I'm your host, Stabbem Chefcter. Alongside me is former head coach, GM, and lead network analyst Kill Wiper Jr.

WIPER JR: We're getting some backlash on our last segment, Stabby.

CHEFCTER: Indeed we are. As always, we invite you, the hardcore fan of the NBFL to follow along and message us in real time by using the social media app Spitter. Here's some of the things we're hearing.... @Loadedburgun spits at us, "B- for Buffalo? Should be A+++! Drafted the best player out there at the time. That's Drafting 101, darn it." Killy, you wanna respond to some of these Spits?

WIPER JR: Sure thing, Stabby. Coatlique IS a very good selection. Nobody's going to argue with that. The need, however, is so much greater for the Defensive side of the ball. Buffalo has the tools already to nearly score at will, but in Blood Bowl, you have to be able to play both sides of the game. The Hillbillies needed to pick somebody up to help with protecting their end zone, and they didn't do that.

CHEFCTER: @UnbridledDonkey sends to us "I think Coatlique deserved a better grade than a B-. B or a B+ minimum.

WIPER JR: You're certainly entitled to think that, and we always encourage people to speak their mind and discuss these draft picks. We certainly wish him and Buffalo well as they begin growing together. BSDN just felt that addressing a Wardancer was a great deal more important that drafting a 3rd Catcher.

CHEFCTER: @NewTomb4eva Spits at us, "FINALLY! A Jets team that can win! Can they win the big game this year?"

WIPER JR: Jets fans have been suffering for a LONG time now. The previous ownership group just floundered well below mediocrity for their entire duration. These new, younger, more driven owners have finally turned this squad around, making Blood Bowl exciting again for the good folks of the Big Apple. Can they win the big game? It's a TALL task to defeat Green Ball, with all that big game experience on the other side of the pitch. I really want to see a great match. Can they win it? Yes, they certainly have a chance to win it. I'll be pulling for 'em!

CHEFCTER: We invite all our fans to continue following us on Spitter. @ChefStabby and @KillZoneBSDN.

WIPER JR: I for one love to be able to be in direct contact with the fans of this league. Keep it coming!

CHEFCTER: I'm with you, Killy. Let's start dissecting our next two draft picks, so we can get some more reaction. The next squad ran into some hard luck this past season. Someone neglected to remind these guys that most of them CAN Regenerate. Injuries and some bad luck came to roost this season for the boys from:

5. CINCINNATI

Race: Nurgle
Player Selected: Barry Leegle (Wisconsin)
Skills: Block, Dodge, Guard, (+ST) - 52 points
Position: Pestigor

Grade of Position: A+

CHEFCTER: The Bludgeoners are a proud, well-established Nurgle squad with an excellent foundation to build on. It's unfortunate that injuries really got the better of the boys last season, with only 7 players returning for the upcoming campaign. There's not too much to dissect here. The Beast of Nurgle is a two-skilled player who performs exactly how you'd want him, having Guard and Stand Firm. The Nurgle Warrior crew is only 3, but they're quite good. There are two remaining Pestigors on the club, and they're above average. There is only one returning Rotter from last season.

So, where would we look to improve first and foremost? It would be in the Pestigor ranks. They're the most agile and offer the highest utility in the long run to a Nurgle club. Looking at the draft, there's quite a bevy of players in the Skilled and Blitzer sections this draft (the sections which Pestigors qualify under), so it seems that this is a match made in heaven for Cincinnati.

The two Pestigors that are already employed, Dre Kirkpatrick and Marshall In The House, are both solid hitters, with Mighty Blow and Block already learned. There's two ways that the Bludgeoners can go here.

(A) They could pick up a ball-handling Pestigor. Looking at the TD distribution on the club with the players on this roster, 68% of the TDs scored are by the Pestigor position. If there were a ball handler available, that certainly would firm up the scoring potential.

(B) They could draft a support player. There are only two players with Guard currently employed on the roster. The Guard skill certainly improves a team's defensive capabilities, as well as protects the health of those assisting.

Cincinnati elects to "go with Plan B", which we here at BSDN HIGHLY favored. Coach Sutherlands is nearly overjoyed to see Leegle still sitting in the draft room at 5. He is, far and away, the best player available for exactly what the staff is looking for; a stronger player with Blodge AND Guard to assist the two hitting Pestigors already on the squad. This really is a great fit for the Bludgeoners. The right player at the right position.

WIPER JR: You're right on, Stabby. Not much to say about their pick except, "good job, you got that one right on the money". Here's hoping he's a solid player for a long period of time for Cincinnati. It's time for the 6th pick of this year's draft, which is also a team from the AFC North. These boys are under some brand new ownership this season. The Orcs that were here have since disbanded, and made way for some new mighty mini-men.

6. BEARDYMORE

Race: Dwarf
Player Selected: Buck Friday (Wisconsin)
Skills: Dodge, (+AG), Side Step, Sure Hands - 63 points
Position: Blitzer

Grade of Pick: A
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPANSION PICKS:

(1st overall) Sidney Rice (Seattle)
Runner - +AG, +MA, Block, Sure Feet, Sprint - 102 points

(2nd pick - #6) Ex-Conscript (San Francisco)
Blitzer - Dodge, Tackle, Mighty Blow, Sprint, Sure Feet - 115 points
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WIPER JR: Let me be the first to welcome the new ownership for the Shavens to our beloved league. In reality, the ownership just bought into a new franchise, as they were formerly in south Florida, but we wish them all the best for their new endeavor.

Beardymore is building from the ground up. They began the process by drafting a PROLIFIC ball-carrier, ensuring that they'll be able to score.
Their front office then goes out and picks up a STUD Blitzer to be the leader of the squad. We really like the way the front office is going so far, so let's see if this pick holds up to their standards.

We now know they've started with Blitzer and Runner. Because they're still forming, they should honestly be looking for the best player available. Looking quickly through the options, there's just no game-changing players in the Strength section to serve for a star Troll Slayer. With this high of a pick, it almost seems like it wouldn't be an efficient choice to choose a Longbeard unless he's a bona-fide can't-miss player.

So, that leaves the two positions they've already chosen from: Blitzer and Runner.
Most would agree that the greatest impact for immediate success on both sides of the ball would be a Blitzer that can chase down a ball, or smack folks in the face.

Looking through the available Blitzers, we come across a number of defensive specialists, but one who stands out as being a two-way player in the person of Buck Friday. He has 2 doubles in the arsenal, as well as some extra agility, and can handle a ball with the grace of a (dirty) Elf. Imagine how annoying it's going to be for opponents to deal with a 3/4 Blodge, Sure Hands, Side Step Dwarven Blitzer. He may turn out to be one of the more annoying players in all of the AFC North.

You also get the added benefit of an emergency ball-handler with Friday, should something unforeseen occur with the Runner core for the squad. This pick just seems to be more useful in the overall scheme, rather than just drafting a pure hitter. We here at BSDN really like this pick for the fledgling Shavers. Great choice. They got what should turn out to be the best player that was available at the time.

CHEFCTER: Folks, we're through the first 6 picks of this season's NBFL draft. Hang in there. folks. Our next two teams are on the way. The next two picks were made by two new teams forming, so it will be interesting to dissect how their building processes are going. Don't touch that dial, folks!

CHEFCTER: We're back, folks. Thank you for staying with us through the commercial break. You're watching the Season 14 NBFL Draft Review/Analysis Show. He's Kill Wiper Jr. I'm Stabbem Checter. We've already talked about the first 6 picks this season, so let's keep that ball a rollin', right Killy?

WIPER JR: You got that right, Stabby. I've got an interview coming aboard!

CHEFCTER: So I hear. I'm anxious to talk with him, also. But first, let's talk about this season's 7th overall draft pick. This team is under brand new ownership this season. The franchise was purchased by the former owners of the Baltimorc Waaaghvens, who have decided to rebuild with a new franchise in:

7. TAMPON BAY

Race: Amazon
Player Selected: Kerri Gonzales (Oregon)
Skills: Mighty Blow, Frenzy, Tackle, Side Step - 75 points
Position: Blitzer

Grade of Selection: A+

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPANSION PICKS:

1st pick - (3rd) Yamon Figurdsson (Baltimorc)
Thrower - Block, (+ST), (+AG), Nerves of Steel, Dump-Off - 84 points

2nd pick - (4th) Terrell Suggs (Baltimorc)
Blitzer - Mighty Blow, Tackle, Guard, Grab - 63 points
------------------------------------------------

CHEFCTER: We'd first like to take the time to wish Coach Miyuso and the new ownership in Tampon Bay all the best for many years of success in the NFC South. Your road won't be easy to start with, but you'll grow to be a power house soon.

There really isn't much that needs to be said about this pick. These ladies are a new franchise. They've started going about it in a very positive way by drafting to needs: a prolific ball-handler and two road-clearing Blitzers.

BSDN had slotted the Corsairs to draft a Catcher in this slot, as there were 2 VERY good possibilities for these ladies. With BOTH of them having been drafted already, Tampon Bay reassesses its needs, and looks for the best, most impactful player it can pick up. They find a gem in Gonzales. Her skillset out of the NCBB is tailor-made for the type of game that coach Miyuso looks to play. This is, quite simply, the perfect example of drafting the right player for the right needs of a squad. Easy as that.

WIPER JR: I have to agree, Stabby. It might not be a dramatic, long-winded dissection of a pick. It's only because the Coaching staff struck gold with that selection. Not really much else to say when you hit it right on the head.

The next team we're talking about is our last of the true Expansion squads going into this season. This ownership group has been around the NBFL since its inception. We're proud to have them back.

8. JACKSONVILLE

Race: Chaos Pact
Player Selected: Chris Killer (Air Force)
Skills: Block, Guard, Piling On - 31 (51) points
Position: Chaos Troll

NOTE: This player also had the Mighty Blow skill out of college, but his position already has the skill on board, lowering his starting SPP to 31.

Grade of Pick: A
-----------------------------------------------------
EXPANSION PICKS:

1st pick (2nd) - Foster (Cleveland)
Marauder - Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle - 42 points

2nd pick (5th) - Tim Fugger (Arizona)
Chaos Ogre - Block, Tackle, Grab - 35 points
-----------------------------------------------------

WIPER JR: We'd like to welcome coach Apojar back to the fold in the NBFL. Nice to see him get another chance in the league.

Chaos Pact are very difficult to develop. They need SO much, similar to straight-up Chaos, but they get to add the services of 3 Big Guys, as well as some Renegades from a few other races. They get some extra Strength to employ, but at the cost of being a tad unreliable.

The Pactuars, however, have done what they could to attempt to "sure up" as much of that uncertainly as possible. They choose to draft Killer, one of the three Big Guys available. By the looks of availability, this seems to be the best pick they can make here.

There really isn't anyone terribly flashy on the board for the beginning squad in Jacksonville. What I mean by that is that there isn't anyone on the board that is so head-over-heels above what anyone else can do for a Pact squad. The skills that Killer brings are exactly what the Pactuars are looking for. The ownership got this pick right, which is odd for them. History would illustrate that Apojar hasn't been the best when it comes to draft picks. Regardless, we congratulate him on his new player.

In fact, we'd like to offer him some congratulations face to face, so without further ado, we welcome Apojar to the program once again. How've you been, Apo?

APOJAR: Good, Killy. Good to talk with you guys, again. Nice to be back. Hope you and Stabby are doing well.

WIPER JR: We are, thank you. How do you feel your draft went so far this season? You still have a late pick to go.

APOJAR: We've been pretty fortunate to have these 3 players find their ways to our squad. We think they have a chance to make some noise quickly in the highly competitive AFC South.

WIPER JR: What is it about these players that struck your fancy?

APOJAR: With the Big Guys, having both Block is enormous, as it makes them that much harder to push around. Having some extra Tackle sure won't hurt. We're also always looking to add some Guard to our squad, as we feel it gives our boys a better chance to stay healthy if they're all out there looking out for each other. As for Mr. Foster, we hope he'll be someone that can exert some force on the pitch, allowing those in the backfield to make their way forward quickly.

CHEFCTER: Apo, Stabbem Chefcter here. Will you be employing a Minotaur this season also?

APOJAR: We're not entirely certain yet, but our original blueprint had us employing one, yes.

WIPER JR: Care to offer us a prediction this season?

APOJAR: It's just way too early to say, guys. We're just beginning to open training camp, so we don't have any ideas as of yet as to what we're all about until they all get out on the pitch and show us what they're made of. We're hoping that we can have some form of success similar to the impact Miami has had in the AFC East. We'll have to wait and see.

CHEFCTER: Apo, thanks for stopping by once again. You want to make this a tradition? Be our first interview each Season?

APOJAR: I'd rather not, Stabby. That means my team is under-performing, and I'm drafting early on. Nobody wants that!

CHEFCTER: Fair enough, thanks for stopping in.

Stay tuned, folks. We're through the first 8 picks. Next segment, we delve into a former champion of the NFC East.

WIPER JR: And I get to tackle a perennial power house of the AFC who was down on their luck last season due to some serious injuries.

CHEFCTER: You won't want to miss it, folks. Stick around, but first, some commercials.

CHEFCTER: Welcome back, NBFL fans! You're still watching the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. Stabbem Chefcter here. As always, I'm joined by my fellow commentator and former GM/Head Coach in the League, Mr. Kill Wiper Jr.

WIPER JR: As always, thrilled to be doing this, Stabby. There are some things in life we feel like we're just born to do, and this is it!

CHEFCTER: Hey, if it's got something to do with the NBFL, I want to have a hand in it. I love this league. Ready to discuss a few more picks?

WIPER JR: I thought you'd never ask! Let's go

CHEFCTER: Allrighty, my friend. Our next squad was ravaged with injuries last season. They are now a season or so removed from being the NFC East Champions. Don't let their lighter armor fool you. These girls can hit. HARD. They're coached well, and you're guaranteed to get the absolute best they have to offer game in game out...

9. FLASHINGTON

Race: Amazon
Player Selected: M. Darkley (Texas S&M)
Skills: Block, (+ST) - 16 (34) points
Position: Linewoman

Grade of Pick: A

NOTE: This player also came with Dodge in her skill set. Her position already has the skill on board, which is why her points have been reduced from 34 to 16.

CHEFCTER: The Redheads mean business. They are the former NFC East Champions from Season 12. Their salary structure allows them to field a deep squad and bench without worrying as much about the Salary Cap. They are instructed very well by Coach JackassRampant. In short, these ladies are a force to be reckoned with.

As we had teased earlier, however, the squad was riddled with injuries last season, dropping them into the basement of the division. As they begin their off-season training camp, let's dissect the roster to see where the needs are.

BLITZER: Not needed. Flashington already has their allowed 4. The ladies they have in place are excellent for the job, and for the most part, are still healthy. There's no need to consider replacing one.

THROWER: If there's a very good one available, it could be considered. The Redheads currently employ R. Griffin, who is more than capable of doing the tasks the Coaching staff require. This wouldn't be the first place I'd look to upgrade.

CATCHER: This is a good possibility. The Redheads have never really found a good fit for the position since the untimely death of their former star Catcher K. Kahaku-Enhada, arguably one of the best draft picks to come out of Navy. They've hired a few here and there, but nobody has really fit the bill. If there's someone decent, it's worth considering.

LINEWOMAN: Sure, you could look here. Depth is the bread and butter for a good Amazon squad. It would not be bad to pick up a good, solid Linewoman for added security. This could be a good place to look.

So, it appears that we would be looking for either a game-changing Skilled section player, or added depth in the Linewoman core. Let's see what's out there.

Looking first through the Skilled section, with the departure of Coatlique (4th overall to Buffalo) and Barry Leegle (5th overall to Cincinnati) from the Draft Pool, there are really only 2 potential candidates that could fit the mold that Flashington uses for Catchers. They're decent, but are they players that can make a solid impact right away? Not terribly likely.

That leaves us to look through the Linewoman section. With the way the roster is currently composed, the front office assesses that their best choice should be M. Darkley. It's a very good choice. She will prove to have more of an influence on a match than either of the Catcher candidates.

Darkley becomes the 3rd player in the Linewoman core that features some extra Strength. Opposing teams can deal with one player, maybe two that has some extra Strength, but 3 becomes a problem. All 3 of them have Blodge. The Redheads now have 4/3 Blodgers on the squad. You can't help but draw a comparison between these ladies and the Giant Leeches. They may not be as agile, but the idea of a number of st4 bodies being on the line makes things very difficult for other teams to play against.

In reality, Darkley makes more of an impact by imposing that reluctance on opponents than any of the available Skilled players would. It may not be very sexy or flashy, but this is the right pick to make.

But, thankfully, you don't have to take my word for it. Let's hear it straight from the mouth of someone in the Front Office for the Redheads. We'd happy to welcome to the Show for the first time Coach JackassRampant. Welcome to the program, sir.

JACKASSRAMPANT: Howdy!

CHEFCTER: Stabbem Chefcter here, sir. We've been speculating about how you arrived at choosing M. Darkley. What was it that ultimately led you to picking the strong Linewoman?

JACKASSRAMPANT: It was down to three players for me, and I was really agnostic about all three. There was a catcher with +AG and another with Piling On and Mighty Blow, and I was tempted by both. I ended up taking Darkley because she has the highest ceiling of the three, and because she best fits our ground-pounding model.

CHEFCTER: Do you prefer to utilize a "ground and pound" strategy of moving the ball, or are you a fan of the vertical passing game?

JACKASSRAMPANT: Some people can make vertical work with Amazons. We tried that briefly, but we had a run of casualties that made it unsustainable. We came to the realization that we're at our best when we do one thing and do it well. We're +60 net Casualties over our last 30 games (2 seasons plus playoffs), and we intend to keep pounding turf 'cause it's our bread and butter.

WIPER JR: JR, it's Kill Wiper Jr. here. What kind of value do you put on the Catcher position? We've been talking about how the Redheads haven't had someone steady at the position since Kahaku-Enhada. What are you searching for when it comes to the position, without giving away too much?

JACKASSRAMPANT: I can tell you, we miss Kahaku-Enhada's skill set, with Guard and Side Step, but to be frank we've found that we don't have room for Catchers on defense, so all we really care about is having a Block, Dodge, Catch player we can get the ball to if the kick doesn't go our way. This team is about ST4 blockers and Mighty Blow/Piling On Blitzers, primarily. Oh, and Dirty Players and universal Blodge: anything else, except Griffin to handle the ball, is either a wrinkle or a distraction.

CHEFCTER: What's your outlook like for this coming season? Care to throw us out a prediction?

JACKASSRAMPANT: I don't like predictions. We're aiming for our first double-digit win season, but we got our work cut out for us to get there. Last season we played badly in some key games, and we can't let that happen again: this season our schedule is pretty tough.

WIPER JR: Is there a team out there, JR, that gives you a few more fits than most others do? Someone that has your number?

JACKASSRAMPANT: Philhala. It comes down to the AV dice. Usually by halftime, one team has had enough, and which one it is, that's anybody's guess. They got us last season. We got them the one before. It's always a challenge playing the New York Giant Leeches also, and we hope for a better outcome this time around.

CHEFCTER: Coach JackassRampant, thank you so very much for spending some time with us this year. We greatly appreciate it.

He's a good interview, Killy.

WIPER JR: He's completely in tune with the pulse of his squad, Stabby. You have to admire coaches like that. Let's delve into the next team who has a Coach with a similar reputation throughout the league.

This next squad is a perennial power house in the NBFL. They're the longest tenured squad in the AFC East. When in comes to well-coached punishment, these guys are the premiere club to watch.

10. NEW ANGRYLAND

Race: Chaos Dwarf
Player Selected: Brandon "Jarod Bryant" Lafell (Arizona)
Skills: Block, Tackle, (+AG) - 42 points
Position: Hobgoblin

Grade of Pick: A

WIPER JR: These guys are, bar none, my favorite team to watch. They've been doing it for so many years now, and to so many people. You have to have a lot of respect for a team that, love them or hate them, just wins. These guys were decimated by injuries last season, dropping them down to a 3rd place finish in the highly competitive AFC East.

Let's drop through their roster in its current form, and see where, if any, the holes are to fill.

CHAOS DWARF BLOCKER: Probably not, no. 5 of the 6 men employed here have 2 skills already. The 6th man has the all-important Guard on board. They're more than functional for what Coach licker needs to get done. I wouldn't think this would be the best place to look for improvement.

BULL CENTAUR: No. The two that are currently employed are pretty darn good. Tom Bulldry, though slightly nicked up, is an excellent addition to the boys of the northeast. If you look through this season's Strength section, there is a fairly nice candidate available in the person of Maurice Bennett. He, however, doesn't offer anything additional that New Angryland doesn't already have. It would be most wise to pass.

HOBGOBLIN: This would be a place where upgrading would surely be possible. With 7 of them on the squad, and 3 of them Rookies, this would be an easy place to improve the roster, given the depth of both the Linemen and Skilled sections.

MINOTAUR: In all likelihood, no, but this is based on history. We'll still look to see if there's a good one available, but New Angryland has now played, both regulation and pre-season, a total of 131 games. Out of those, there has been a Minotaur on the squad for only 29 of those 131 games. Chances are high that this won't be where the front office will want to draft from.

So, the most likely impact can be made by drafting to the Hobgoblin core. Scanning through both of the permitted sections for the position, the Bulltrots select Bryant. He comes with some extra Agility, as well as being able to play both sides of the ball with Block and Tackle. He's a rather versatile player, which will play well with New Angryland. There really isn't anything that he can't do for the club; he can handle the ball if he has to. He can free himself up to blitz an Elf or a Blodger. He is an excellent compliment to the skill set that Stephen GhostCowSki features. The two of them in the backfield makes this team that much more difficult to deal with. The only thing you could say that is lacking from the squad is any kind of a Dirty Player, but is it a necessity? No.

We have all watched this team experience success year after year. Much of the credit for that should be given to coach licker, and we'd like to welcome him to this year's program. Coach, it's Stabbem Chefcter and Kill Wiper Jr. Pleasure to talk to you, sir.

LICKER: Hello, I've got a few spare minutes between squiq snorting so I'll try to answer your questions.

WIPER JR: Sir, your franchise has experienced a lot of success over the past few years. What can you attribute your success to? What's your secret to long-termed, sustained success, without giving too much away?

LICKER: Oh, well the success of the Bulltrots revolves around our policy of never discussing our methods for maintaining our successes. Success is after all only successful when you can successfully find ways to succeed in succeeding.

WIPER JR: Talk to us a bit about how you and the Staff came to select Mr."Jerod Bryant" Lafell. What were you specifically looking to address?

LICKER: Ah, well Mr. Lafell, Lafell to us. Yes, we were certainly looking for a fall guy after the tribulations of the last season where the players took half the year off to film squig porn.

CHEFCTER: Coach, Stabbem Chefcter here. We're receiving reports that your Super Bowl IX appearance is in question due to your Equipment Managers using deflated balls, causing the spikes to be far more effective against the opponents trying to field and throw the ball. Care to comment on this situation?

LICKER: We use only NBFL approved balls. And squigs. Sometimes we use their balls too.

WIPER JR: Come on, Stabby, Really?

CHEFCTER: Hey, inquiring minds want to know!

WIPER JR; Last question, Coach. You've always been seen as a low-key, no-nonsense, results kind of guy. Have you ever given any thought to what you'd like to do after your Coaching career?

LICKER: I'm already doing what I like to do, *while* I'm coaching. Now... if you'll excuse me I have a casting call with some squigs.

WIPER JR: Coach, thank you so much for stopping by to this season's show. Pleasure to talk with you.

CHEFCTER: Well, you heard it here first, folks. We break news here on BSDN's NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. Don't change that channel! Coming up in our next segment, I delve into the 11th pick, made by another power house of the AFC East.

WIPER JR: And I'll be dissecting pick 12, made by a constant threat in the AFC West, which happens to be our only Human team in the NBFL.

CHEFCTER: Stick around folks. More commercials, but more interviews to come, and we also answer some more of the audience response on Spitter. Stay tuned!
