While that's an interesting idea academically, I don't think anyone would want to play in a non-progressive league.

It is not really a 'league' in the usual sense. It is not about progressing your team. It is more like a challenge between coaches.

If it works your way then do it. If it doesn't it might be worth having a word with the admins.

Non-prog gets around the 'I don't have a team' problem.

I guess I'm just more into team building.

I'd never play in a non-progressive league.

I could be interested in signing up, depending on how often games have to be played - I'm already in 2 leagues so a game-a-week would probably be too much for me, less frequent I could probably do.

Rules-wise, some thoughts:

If you're going with stables of 4 coaches, and splitting teams into tiers, then I'd suggest 4 tiers of teams, and make it that for each tournament/round/whatever, each stable has to have one team from each tier. The tiers wouldn't even necessarily have to be split into best/good/ok/stunty, but could be split by play-style instead, to stop a single stable spamming lots of bashy teams.

I'd also suggest that progressive play is most fun, would add an extra element of fun if newer stablse were created trying to bring down the bigger ones.

Also think the suggestion of having more people per stable, with "reserves" could add an extra fun element (and cover people being away/busy for a time).

I like both of your ideas James.

4 tiers could be:

Mutants - Chaos, Pact, CDorfs, Skaven, Nurgle, Underworld
Heroes - Amazon, Human, Norse, Halflings, Lizardmen, Dwarf
Villians - Orc, Ogre, Goblins, Undead, Necromantic, Khemri, Vampire
Sylvan - Elf, High Elf, Wood Elf, Dark Elves, Slaan

And the reserve coaches help the problem of when people are not available during a given week.
