Hi akaRenton, you can add me as "Spanish speaker friendly coach" for your newbies starter pack. Pretty good initiative.

Have added the link to the notes pages version of the welcome message in the opening post to make it easier for other FUMBBLers to link directly to it for new coaches they stumble across. |

I don't know if it's the end of summer, due to BB2 or just a random coincidence, but I have played a lot of very new coaches recently. All of them had in common that they did not know that you can label players in the client. I remember I did not either for my first few games, and it really annoyed me that I couldn't tell the players apart. Somebody eventually told me.
I think we shouldn't overload the welcome message, but it's such an important and non-intuitive feature. Any chance to include it somehow? Because I also couldn't find it quickly in any of the links within. |

I'll see if I can put something together on a notes page with a link to it that has screen shots etc to show how to do it. Might take a day or two as it's getting late, but will definitely add it Stimme. |

Is it though? I think one layer at a time. Even getting started on the site, without playing a game is close to overload.
I used to do a lot of the academy coaching on the site and you really need to take things slowly. Usually a few new points per game. So I think you probably introduced them to the player marking the correct way. You learn it after a few games, however we probably badly need a coaching system again here. |

I believe Koadah has been working on reintroducing the Academy idea, with coaches setting up league teams to help teach newcomers bits and pieces. Not sure how far along that's come, but it looked promising. |

Well the long term plan was to have that new style academy division, but it's a lot of work. I know one coach did a lot on it (sorry I can't remember who).
For me it's vital to get new coaches using the help section. You have to be cruel to be kind. You let them suckle and they'll keep suckling. You point them in the direction of the help section and they'll find out what they need to know and a lot more.
FUMBBL isn't an instant hobby, it's not for everybody. However, yes a lot could be done to make it a lot more noob friendly. |

This will be in my next intro video, definitely. And is done on any of the ones they can view. |

Hey, I somehow missed this thread.
I'd be happy to answer any questions the noob may have.
I don't have much time to play those days, but I am browsing FUMBBL every day at work, so I have quite a bit of time to answer / advise newcomers.
I speak French and English. I can understand Italian if noone is up to the task, though I write it quite badly :-/
I have most of my experience playing Undead, Amazons, Ogres, dwarves, chaos pact (the real one with all the renegades) and skavens. Doesn't mean I'm very good with them, but enough to help a noob :p |

Thanks the.tok, will add you to the french speaking section
edit: The coach notes page version has now replaced the PM as it is far easier to link to new coaches and tidier to edit. |
