Well the pointy eared gits got off to a winning start against a bunch of lumbering undead. Despite losing 2 elves to long term injuries in the first couple of turns and suffering numerous knockouts during the rest of the game, Br'tanbel showed again just how annoying wardancers can be. Leaping over mummies and other graveyard rejects, snatching the ball from under their noses and then running circles around them to score under the posts he almost single handedly turned around a match that had started very unfortunately for the outnumbered elves with some disastrous early rolls.

League of Gentlemen draw with Southern Scumbags 1-1

Allan Quartemain hesitated as he approached the doors of the study. His own study. Gray had commandeered it the moment he performed his coup of the Gentlemen. Now he, Quartemain was forced to knock at his own door and beg entrance from the great Dorian Gray like some knock-kneed british schoolboy. Gritting his teeth, he strode into the room to face the face of the one that had taken so much away from him. The face belonging to the one he despised more than any other who graced the Empire's surface. The boyishly charming face of Dorian Gray.

That charm still lingered today, but it was marred by twitching lips and sulking eyes. Gray was clearly not pleased. As well he should not, Quartemain thought. If every victory that the Gentlemen won had wrested power to Gray and away from Quartemain, every failure might well bring it back to him.

"The team awaits your instructions, Mr. Gray." Quartemain tried to keep the sarcasm from creeping into his voice. He didn't try too hard.

"Shut up Allan. If they're going to mull around the pitch like the colonials of this godforsaken land there's little I can do for the wretched lot of them. Haven't you been training them in the off season? We're the champions god dammit!"

Allan smiled as he faced the floor. Just one draw and he was needed again. Gray's powerhold wasn't as strong as he had thought.

"I will do what I can to see they train this time. The dark elves arrive in four days time. That will give me ample time to remind Sawyer and Nemo what a ball feels like. In the meantime the Count asks-"

Gray swore viciously cutting Allan off. For a second something of the twisted evil of the man could be seen truly reflected in his features. In a flash, it was gone. A bag was tossed at Allan. It landed with the heavy clink of expensive coin.

"You will bring the Count the money he is owed. Tell him.. Tell him that that the league thanks him for his efforts and to bear my personal compliments to the Countess, the blind fool."

At least here, Allan was of a mind with Gray. Strutting around on the pitch for half the match like he owned the team and then tripping over his own cape and losing the game to an ignoble draw. If the vampire was to charge this much for his services it was clear he was not paying his way.

"Certainly Mr. Gray. And as for the late Madeline Usher..."

"She can be replaced, damn you!!! They all can be replaced, even you! Never forget that Quartemain! This is my team! My team! My chance!"

Gray literally hurled him out of the office, slamming the door. Picking himself up, Quartemain mildly walked down the hallway, prepared to mildly do the young lords bidding.

Allan Quartemain smiled. Prepared... for now.

Donut Boys Stake Claim For QPool Title!

After being 0-2 down at half time, Mr Whippy's Donut Boys rallied to score a 2-2 result on the bell against the Lord's of War.

This has ended the Donut Boys' 5 game section in the QPool in which they have finished on 59 out of a possible 60 points! This would require a serious effort from someone else to overhaul and many teams have already dropped points...

Team owner, Mr Whippy was very happy with his small Hobbit team and joined the team in celebrations after their thrilling last gasp draw. Cakes, donuts and ice cream were laid on in a fine spread and Mr Whippy toasted his sides success with lashings of Creaming Soda!

When asked if he was looking forward to the main draw next season, Mr Whippy indicated that his team would not be seeking selection in the main draw...

A Wildcard spot in the Southern Cross Cup though would be his strong preference...

Scorecard: Mr Whippy's Donut Boys 2 drew Lords of War 2

Carlton United defeat Corporate Fraud Chain Gang 3-1

Having finished last Season in 4th place, despite early hope that the Title might be coming to Carlton, United were eager to kick off the new Season and prove themselves the true Title contenders that they knew they were. League Newcomers, Corporate Fraud Chaingang, were undermanned and underskilled in this, their first Premiership game, and Mr. could not help but be confident...

Kicking off was exactly how their game started, the ball sailing square into Chaingang backfield. The Offseason has been too long for both teams it seemed, the lack of competition making the players soft, as the match began with a flurry of laden stretchers being taken from the field. Joe Hurler, Davros Hugz, and Kenneth Lay would take no further part in this game.

Despite their lack in numbers, the Chain Gang gave United and early scare, Scott Sullivan running the ball home with lightning speed and precision. 1-0 Chain Gang.

The early casualties to Carlton had taken their toll, but our boys were still able to field a full squad whereas the Elves had been reduced to only 9. Fired up by their early score, Corporate Fraud charged forward as they kicked the ball wide. Their numbers amassed on the right flank and things looked grim for Carlton. Alas for the Elves, the ball had been kicked too wide and the resulting Touchback enabled Gordon Lau to rumble up the now exposed left wing. With a good spread of players protecting him, he had no trouble equalising.

Again on the attack, Chain Gang once more looked to their Blitzer to make the play. Crashing through the lines, he sprinted for the zone with a number of comrades. Turning in mid stride to receive the pass, his heart sank. Duke Snakefield, with equal grace and power, has forged his way to the thrower and sacked him hard. Fraud were left horribly weakened by the distance between their players as Carlton swarmed around the ball. With superior numbers and strength, there was no stopping the inevitable as, in spite of a fierce defensive effort, Snakefield walked Carlton's second overthe line. 2-1 Carlton at Half time.

A riot broker out during the break as Duke Snakefield made a wry comment to the Boundary Reporter about his suspected reasons for the Elves' starring "Shemale", Christopher Skase's, absense from the field.
The second term was half over by the time play resumed...

Fearful of the Elves' agility, and beginning to suffer from casualties themselves, Carlton would attempt a structured attack in the second half, forced as they were to field all four of their catchers. With too many attacking options and too many players generally, it was no big surprise for anyone when Bazman received a pass deep in the enemy half and ran the ball, once more, over that line.

Carlton's lead seemed unassailable as the second half drew to a close, and indeed it was. The match would end, 3-1 to Carlton. A great start to the Title campaign for United.

***********************************
Great effort Bornsey. You went in completely outclassed and made a real show of it. Good luck with the rest of the season! Smile

Zen Adepts 1 - 1 Maniac Mammalians II

In what was probably the most cosmically corrupt SWL game ever played, the momentous meting between CD and WE ended in a much deserved draw. Unknown forces of nature and evil gods from far off realms conspired to warp reality and prevent these two teams from ending thier momentoues battle. But common sense prevailed and a conclusion was reached, albeit a premature one, it was an ending nontheless.

What kind of cosmis mayhem will ensue during the next Adepts game! Will the field explode? The refs eat the crowd? Will Buddah make a triumphant return to the BB pitch? Surprised

Only time will tell.

Corporate Fraud Chain Gang 2 - 1 League of Exhumed Gentlemen

Well, well, well, how the mighty have fallen. Many expected the Fraudsters to lose this game against the hard-hitting Gentlemen, but it was not the case, their cunning and skill won the day.

The match began with a show of intent from the Gentlemen with 2 KOs in the first 3 blocks leaving the Gangsters vulnerable and outnumbered. However, Christopher Skase saw his team were flagging and put in a heavy hit to badly hurt one of the Gentlemen’s key players, Allan Quartermain, who regerated and waited his chance to get back on the pitch and brutally mutilate one of the Gangsters. The Gentlemen made a run down the pitch and the first touchdown seemed iminent. However, the teams were evened up when Nick Leeson saw an opportunity to push the hapless Dorian Gray into the crowd for a KO.

Tom Sawyer had made a solo run for the line, but the strength and skill of the Gangsters proved vital as they broke away from their men and made a spectacular blitz to knock him to the ground and then follow up to collect the ball. The infuriated Gentlemen stormed the small pocket of Frausters who were protecting the ball carrier, but in his haste Mina Harker tripped over her own feet and the Gangsters were able to move the ball out of reach of the Gentlemen. Or so they thought.

The prospect of scoring a touchdown proved too exciting for Alan Bond who threw a block at an unsuspecting, skillless zombie, but his sloppy technique left the door open for the Gentlemen to wreak some havoc and get the ball back. Nick Leeson was knocked to the ground and the ball spilt free, however, quick thinking from Christopher Skase and Scott Sullivan opened the way for Mr Leeson to again collect the ball and stroll over for a touchdown. 1-0 to the Fraudsters.

The second half started well for the Gentlemen with the brilliance of their away supporters shocking the fraudsters into a stunned silence allowing the Gentlemen to quickly rearrange their defence. However, the heavy hitting defence from the Gentlemen was of little use as the slippery elves slipped between the fingers of their opponents and made off down field in an array of elvish skill rarely seen. The arrogance of the gangsters knew no limits as they dodged and weaved with gay abandon. Christopher Skase ran the ball down the wing as Tom Sawyer made one last ditch effort to bring him to ground, he tripped up and the ball was quickly handed off to Nick Leeson who went in for his second touchdown. 2-0 Gangsters.

The final drive for the Gentlemen was going well, a solid cage and some very touch players in the surrounding areas. There was a good spread a seemingly inpentrable defensive line. However, the skill and experience of veteran Fraudster Kenneth Lay became obvious as he saw a small jink in his opponents defence and exploited it, attacking from behind enemy liens and bringing the ball carrier to the ground. Hopeful for a third fraudster touchdown the crowd waited with baited breath as the ball sailed towards the lumbering Gentlemen mummy. Success!!! He takes the ball and as nothing had happened, the Gentlemens drive continues down the field. Some more successful blocking lead to Tom Sawyer making easy ground and scoring the corner, 2-1 Gangsters.

Overall a very promising game for the Gangsters, their first win in the Premier and a good result to keep their win/draw/loss looking as healthy as ever. The bitter taste of defeat last match has inspired a few of the players to better performances this week. It has also had some other effects with young Nick Leeson clearly hitting the roids recently and Daniel Bayly’s mean streak becoming even more evident of late. Great game gentlemen, I look forward to our next encounter.
