I was just spec'ing a game... Here's what happened;
- Kickoff, and the ball lands right next to the sideline.
- The kickoff result is a high kick, so the receiving team positions a player for the catch.
- The player attempting the catch fail to do so, and the ball scatters into the crowd.
- The receiving team is awarded a touchback...
Is this really how this should work?
(Couldn't really find it in the rulebook.. Checked the Bouncing ball-, throw-in-, and High kick sections. Admittedly I didn't look it all through to find this specific example. Lazy me) |

yes its how it should work and i also think its stupid, Its just like when it lands on some one on LOS they fail to catch and it goes into the other half. |

The turn doesn't start until the ball has landed, and if it doesn't land within your half, then it's a touchback. It's not magic or strange, it's a bad kick. |

I hate this rule. If the ball leaves the receiving half due to a fumble it should be considered live. Add it to the LRB7 list. |

And this is why we shouldn't have an LRB FUMBBL. |

But it's not a fumble. If a ball scatters through several squares and each player fails to pick it up, they haven't fumbled it, they have just failed to collect a loose ball. That's no different to a ball randomly coming down in their direction from the kick off. |

No it's a dropped catch by the opposition in their half. |

So u do your best to aim your kick every time for a clumsy Mino or Troll in the hope it hits them and bounces back to your side. Sounds a bit silly to me. |

sure, if yr opponent sets up a troll and mino next the to side line.....
but how does getting the ball onto yr side - ie a touchback - help you?

It's on page 6 of the CRP. Look under "the kick-off". Can't decide whether it makes sense or not but it's in the rules all the same :> |
