I'm sure there's a good reason not too but, why dont retired teams get deleted?

I'm not talking the High TR super teams with a history to them but the 'I got maimed first game and started over variety'

This would allow for re using names that you like and would save some space on the site (probably not much but every little helps)

I'm thinking either delete retired teams that have played less than X amount of games or just add an option to allow you to delete them if you want to. I'm sure everyone has a team name on a retired team they'd like to re-use.

A prime example, being new to bloodBowl I wanted to try all the teams out, I wouldn't be the least bit bothered if they all got removed (the retired ones that is)

Easy. Every team record is connected to each game that they play. If you started removing these teams, you would created either bad links or holes in the game records of those who had played them.

it also encourages people to keep playing their teams if they want to keep the team name

Ahh, makes sense, thought there must be a reason

Why not use a team ID# as the main reference variable. That way when you retire a team you could change its name (freeing up the one you like) and still keep all database links intact.

The same should be done for player records too...

Dunno if this can be done now but it would be nice if it could.

Disabling "view roster" for retired teams and deleting the roster file (not the team file) from the site should work... It'd mean there'd be no Team+Name+Here.html on the site any more meaning you can create a new team with that name.

You guys are aware that you can ask the admins to change the name of a team you have retired so you can use that name for another team?

Sure they probably would say no unless you had a really good reason but be inventive and im sure you can come up with a good reason.

And my translation of that is: "Come up with a really good lie, and they might belive you!" Wink

just add 'Avengers' to the old name, and hence instant fluff for the new team.

I just don't see why we need to ask admins to do it at all, should be able to just do it yourself..

You don't have to ask an admin to approve new player names so why shouldnt this apply to team names???

But you can delete retired teams...I've done so...after retiring in the team bios there's an option called delete team.

That option only appears if the team hasn't played any games, though, so it will rarely be any use.
